Skyfire has heard the cries for help, and the cries of pain over the radio for some time now. His anger grew as one thing after another stopped him from coming to his fellow Autobot's aid--first, the necessary but terribly delaying battle with his evil alter-ego, then the equally necessary delay to refuel... Was he too late?
First the good Fleetwind, and now Perceptor? No! He's watched part of that encounter as he came down from the edge of space, but all his fears cannot change the laws of physics. Skyfire can only dive so fast without incinerating his damaged wings. As it is, the ragged trailing edges of his wings are not so ragged anymore; the sharp edges have melted smooth.
Shockwave or Starscream? He committed early, when the pack of Decepticons threatened to overwhelm the embattled Grimlock--now they're fleeing in all directions, Autobots and Decepticons. Perhaps it was a ghost of the old friendship, or just that he's an Autobot by nature, but Skyfire felt compelled to give Starscream one last warning:
// Starscream, this is your only warning: Call retreat for your forces NOW. //
Only two remain, and one of them is Starscream, who replies defiantly, //You cannot tell me what to do, Skyfire. Or are you confused about which side you're on again?//
No further warnings. Old friendship (or basic decency) may have compelled the warning, but more recent betrayal (or righteous anger) biased Skyfire's choice of target. His proton cannon have been targetted on Starscream since Skyfire decided on his target high above---
He fires both cannon at the red, gray and blue Seeker.
----
Skyfire is making a high-speed pass; he can't stop and pass the time with Screamer as much as he'd like to. Out-of-thread after Starscream's turn, depending on response.
