Because there have been some questions lately about all the Private and Semi-private threads, we thought we’d take a moment to clarify why we allow that option.
While Deadzone is driven by an overall metaplot, and we do have some contained storyline arcs in the works, we also want to give you guys as much room for character growth as possible. This means we are very open to players creating/submitting their own mini-plots for their characters or a group of characters. Playing out upgrades, social interactions, intrigue within a faction- all those are plot ideas that we love to see players getting excited about.
For example, the Pz-Zazz segment is very heavy on those player-driven mini-plots. Some of those plots are easily made open to at least the same faction. Some, not so much. So players have the option of making their threads semi-private or private, depending on the location or what is to be accomplished.
It is very, very important that players check the timestamp and the status of a thread before posting in. Even if a thread is in a more public area, what needs to be accomplished may not be suited to an open thread, and the participants may request that players ask before joining. That said, a thread marked Semi-Private is not a Private thread. Semi-Private just means you need to ask first.
Open threads are just that. No need to ask before posting in. Just go for it! Have fun! Just makes sure it’s not just open to one faction or the other. Posting an Autobot into a ‘Con specific thread could get hairy!
To that end, please try and remember to tag your threads with both a timestamp and status. We’re hoping to get the timeline back up to date, so that you can keep what happens when sorted out.
Lastly, if you have an idea for a subplot involving your character, please let us know! If you want to run something for a few characters yourself, that’s great too! Just run it past us to make sure it fits with the setting and such. Thanks and have fun!
