"That may be. I, after all, have only your say-so to go on," Emirate Xaaron replies carefully, "but I do believe you claimed to want study Ultra Magnus's art of turning an enemy's own attacks against him, did you not? You seemed rather more interested in sharpening stakes and driving them into his spark chamber than in twisting his own words against him and turning them back at him to make him see the folly of his actions, you seemed to prefer escalation, an arms race, not deflection and de-escalation."
He releases Mirage and takes a step back, folding his arms behind his back. "I have to wonder if you really did just want a test dummy, like Ultra Magnus accused. Get your rest, Mirage."

Mirage stares at Xaaron for several seconds before turning sharply away with a half-strangled sound that might be a growl of anger but could just as easily be a whimper of pain. He wipes the back of his hand across his optics before walking slowly toward the door.
Why does he even bother trying?
"Good day Xaaron," he says as he exits the training room.

That went better than Emirate Xaaron expected, he reflects. He really was expecting someone to perform some serious violence upon his person.
He wonders if he would have fought back, with words or with blows. Emirate Xaaron thinks, and he comes to an answer. He doesn't like it, but it's him, all of him.
