OOC: Covers Mirage and Botanica
The door to medical opens and a rather upset-looking blue and white racer stalks through them.
"Where is- Bambi!" Mirage rushes over to where the others are congregated. He stops short as he notices the smoked curling off the little Dinobot.
"Bambi? Dear, are you all right? I heard that you'd been hurt." He looks sidelong at Rodimus kneeling next to the table. Mirage knows Rodimus was hurt, because Mirage saw Rodimus yesterday right after. But Rodimus is not nearly so fragile-seeming as Bambi.
Mirage, himself, looks harried and worn, visibly tired and obviously worried over the little Dinobot. He has yet to have his mental breakdown in the fan room, however, which may be why he looks so... not Mirage-like.
Botanica hands Perceptor whatever he requires, commenting, "We should have it ready in a moment or two, Rodimus."

Bambi gives Perceptor a 'what' look, staring at him. The same about what? The same about not wanting to follow orders that aren't explained very well? The same about not wanting to be religious fanatics? The same about wanting to go home? All of that? None of that?
She grunts at Rodimus, "Not really." No one has explicitly told her that they're not used to civilians, though she's kind of picked up on it. Sure, they have regular training, but talking to Mirage, the Transformers of his reality seem to be built as functional members of society. Only in Sentinel Prime's notes on his own reality - her own reality, she supposes - has she found suggestions of Transformers who need schooling even to just be civilians.
Bambi looks rather distraught as she realises, "If me Bambi go to Earth, if them cons follow me Bambi, them cons ruin this Earth, too. Me Bambi have no home now."
She blinks and looks over at Mirage, and she states, "You Mirage no well." She's touched that Mirage gives a damn, she really is, but Dinobot stoicism means she must comment on his own worn appearance and brush off comments about her own sickness.

Rodimus looks up as Mirage enters and gives him a quick smile of greeting, then he turns to glance back at Botanica and nods. "All right, Botanica. Thanks."
At Bambi's fretting, the young Prime slumps again. "The war... does tend to follow us when we try to quit it, I'm afraid. I know it did when I attempted it. And... that's another problem I don't really know how to solve, either."
Lovely, Rodimus must be the bearer of yet more great news. But at least the young Dinobot seems to have been, well, defused for want of a better term.

Mirage shrugs off Bambi's concern, much as the Dinobot did his own. "I'm fine. The upgrade is still interrupting me sleep, is all. But I heard you were in serious danger!"
He isn't quite sure when Bambi moved from "annoying Dinobot" to "Little Sister to be worried over." Perhaps it has something to do with her innate naivete about the entire conflict they are embroiled in.
Her comments about Earth, and those of Rodimus cause the spy to wilt visibly. Mirage had said as much in their previous talks, yes. But to hear her- to hear them both- sound so lost....
And he can't comfort either of them.

All of the above, Bambi. Mainly the part about wanting to go home, though.
Precise amounts of each fluid are carefully measured into a third container, which Perceptor then energizes with a tiny amount of specially distilled energon. From this new fluid, he then withdraws a tiny sample, transforms, and studies it under visual enhancement. With a small noise of satisfaction - and an image transfer to Botanica of what he is seeing, if she wants to accept it, he returns to his base mode and removes a dosing syringe from subspace.
"It is complete." His attention is fully consumed by the syringe as he fills it with the newly compounded liquid that glows in an almost living electric blue. Needle prepared, he turns toward where Bambi is waiting. "As Botanica began to explain, utilizing the nanite treatment that was provided for Blurr--"
Wait. He risks a glance at everyone, and decides that no one really has the patience for a real explanation. "Ah, we modified them to do the exact opposite function, and slow their target down, and then created an antigen response which will target only the foreign bodies invading your systems," he explains as briefly as he can. Let Botanica make any further explanation. If anyone asks. She can do it without.... getting too in depth.
Once at Bambi's side, he meets the little dinobot's optics again, making certain that he has her permission, and, provided that she does not prevent him, injects the solution into the primary fuel line along her neck.

Bambi moans softly to herself, "Doomed. Me Bambi am doomed," when Rodimus talks about his inability to escape the war, and she rocks back and forth a bit.
She's at least calmer now that Mirage is here. It's nice that he's concerned. She suggests, making a weak joke, "Me Bambi have DVDs on diatoms. Them put you Mirage to sleep, me Bambi pretty sure."
Bambi lets Perceptor give her the... "...vaccine? That vaccine you Perceptor give me Bambi?"

Rodimus winces and covers his face with the palm of his right hand, then he peeks out at Bambi from between his fingers. "Er, sorry, Bambi. I know that wasn't particularly encouraging," he sighs. However, he lowers his hand and looks interested as the 'cure' is injected. He glances back at Botanica then up at Perceptor. "When will you know if it's working?" Then he looks over at Bambi. "You feel any better?"

Once Perceptor is out of the way, Mirage reaches out to try and stroke Bambi's crested head, a gesture meant to be soothing. "You're only doomed if you let yourself be, love. That's why I'm here, so that I'm not doomed, remember?"
Mirage glances at Rodimus. The spy wants to ask what happened down there, but... now is not the time. He has a feeling the answer would only be upsetting, and Mirage has had enough of arguments for the time being.

"Mmm, not by strictest definition, but it will work similarly," Botanica answers Bambi, now back to giving the Dinobot her full attention, "Vaccines are usually used as a preventative measure, and in this case the injection will seek out, bond with, and essentially prevent the maturation of the virus with which you were injected, thus rendering it a non-threat."
"Effect should take but a few minutes, given your metabolism. Perceptor should be able to when the bond is complete."

"It is more like a targeted virus, itself, Bambi," Perceptor elaborates. "The nanites in this injection have been re-engineered with target receptors specifically programmed for the virus which you have been infected with, as well as replication coding. The nanites will self-replicate until there is one for every copy of the virus within you. The virus will seek out those receptor sites, and bind themselves to the nanites in order to replicate themselves and continue their life cycles. The nanites, however, have been engineered so that once they become infected, it triggers a slowing of their functions to near stasis of both nanite and virus."
"Nothing we can do will destroy the virus, and, given how entrenched the virus has become into your very life functions, such destruction would have dire consequences for your own life processes. However, the nanites can essentially place the living, activated virus in a sort of suspended animation, slowing their functions to such a rate that, by current calculations, the universe will have burned itself out long before the virus is able to mature to such a level that would prove fatal to you. Additionally, by slowing the virus functions, we have also slowed any chance it may have had to mutate, thereby circumventing the virus' primary evolutionary advantage," he finishes, and, no, he will not be hushed or hurried through this explanation. He is speaking to Bambi, a fellow scientist, and feels that she deserves a more complete explanation as to what they have done to her - especially in light of her previous concerns - than Rodimus or the others are normally wont to put up with from him.

Rodimus Prime is sorry a lot!
Bambi, if she realised how ridiculous Mirage petting her looks would probably be offended, but thankfully, she doesn't. She confesses to Mirage, "No, it not like that! Me Bambi doomed to have them enemies follow me Bambi. Never have time for research. No can go back to home without putting home in danger."
Bambi grunts over Botanica and Perceptor's explanations and asks, "Me Bambi have immune system - it immune system do frustrated phagocytosis on them foreign particles, get inflamed? Me Bambi be cranky?" Because clearly, what Bambi is expressing right now is not cranky!

Rodimus Prime is sorry a lot, this is true.
Rodimus neither hushes nor hurries Perceptor, but he does start to look a touch fidgety before the scientist is through. He has rather little to say about Perceptor's explanations, either, beyond, "Uhm. Right. Could you just... let me know once you're sure it's working?" That's really about all he needs, anyway.
He then looks at Bambi. There's... really little he can say in the way of comfort. He himself has such a very bad experience in trying to leave the war behind. However, he does observe, "At home... your home... you haven't yet drawn the attention of the Decepticons there, right? Because of that... we may not know how to send you back yet, but it's a whole other reality."

"We'll all get to go home one day Bambi, and as Rodimus suggests, if you're unknown to them in you reality, you need not change that fact."
"But even here, it is not so fatalistic! We are not always fighting. We have time- we need time to pursue our own interests. You can still do research on whatever you like."
Poor Mirage doesn't understand really what Bambi considers research.

Botanica quirks a small smile at Bambi's question, "You might notice some faint crankiness for a few days yes, until your immune system adjusts to the new default. The nanties contain coding which will adapt to your own; after a short while, they won't even register as foreign matter."
She looks at Rodimus. "It should be working now, according to our readings. If Bambi will allow, we can do another diagnostic scan to confirm."

It will probably be much to Rodimus' relief that, for once, Perceptor actually has nothing to add to the explanation. He merely nods, and clamps his mouth shut, as if intentionally attempting to keep quiet and not attract attention as he steps away to replace the syringe with the other tools.
