A video file automatically entered into the database on day 30.
The video file starts with a young Autobot peering into the screen, obviously trying to determine if it’s working correctly. He looks freshly washed and waxed, as if he’d come strait from a once over in the med bay. However, scorch marks still hug the corners and grooves of his white and bronze plating and suggest he was in a fire of some sort not too long ago.
He begins to speak, but there’s no sound. As he realizes that his recording lacks an audio component he begins to press a few buttons before him. Each time he takes a great deal of care, as if he might break one of the buttons by accident. Finally the sound is patched in and Slide begins speaking again.
“Sorry about that. I’m still getting used to the systems here. This is my first database entry after all, so I apologize beforehand if I make any mistakes. Anyway, it was suggested after my interview that I create an entry about my home reality.
In my reality the war was just starting when I was first brought online. Our leader, Zeta Prime, needed soldiers to combat the growing threat of the Decepticons. It was a stalemate for a long time until their leader, Megatron, discovered a substance called dark energon. I’m not sure if if Autobot scientists found or created it, but it changed the very nature of the war.
Megatron fought his way into space station Trypticon, the place where they stored the last sample of it, and merged with it. Now the reason it was stored away from Cybertron, at least the reason I was told, was that dark energon corrupts and destroys everything it comes into contact with. Somehow, Megatron managed to master it and in return it empowered him. He then empowered his soldiers in the same manner and weaponized it in the form of bombs and dispensers.”
An image file superimposes itself on the screen. In it a group of Autobots that look surprisingly similar to Slider look on in horror as a bomb drops in front of them. The purplish energy outright destroys most of them, but those that survived aren’t spared for more than a few seconds. Nearly black energon crystals erupt from everything the purple energy touched and shred the survivors, leaving their pieces scattered across the ground.
“He bombed Iacon. I was there when our army was broken and the survivors, like me, were captured and detained in Kaon. What I’d heard later was that Megatron managed to storm the Decagon and captured Zeta Prime. After that the details are a little sketchy, but apparently Megatron was really out to corrupt the core of the planet with dark energon and had to defeat the core’s guardian, Omega Supreme, in order to reach it. He succeeded.
Later a soldier named Optimus managed to take back Iacon, storm Kaon, release the prisoners, and rescue Zeta Prime. Zeta didn’t make it though... Afterwards Optimus was named the last of the Primes by the High Council and took off to cleanse the core of it’s taint. Once again I wasn’t there, but I heard that he revived Omega and freed the core. However, the corruption was too widespread and the core informed him that it would take millions of years of shutdown for complete purification. He also received something called the Matrix, but I don’t know much about that.
Optimus ordered a planetary evacuation and we boarded as many transports as we could find. Unfortunately, Megatron wasn’t done with us and started shooting down our transports as we left the atmosphere. Using Trypticon station as an orbital cannon, he started shooting us out of the sky. My ship, the Tallien, was hit and the last thing I saw before I arrived in the rock room was fire.
I guess I’m pretty lucky considering...”
A violent shudder rocks the view of Slider as he leans forward towards the camera. He looks around, alarmed, before running off screen. The video feed, in the meantime, continues to run until a second shudder terminates the interface.
