Optimus kind of frowns at Xaaron's new game acquisition. Romanticizing traits that the Decepticons embrace so tightly isn't such a good move. Plus, RTS games are always a pain on consoles.
Optimus finds a different cartridge game. "Unless you also know a planet full of strange-looking blue hedgehogs that wear sneakers, I somehow doubt they are basing themselves on any real circumstance."
Optimus examines the cartridge with greater detail. "...Huh. Two players can play this game."

Emirate Xaaron doesn't romanticise those traits, but he does love strategy and tactics, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to win.
He replies neutrally, "I do not know of such a planet, but then, I was always rather a homebody, I must admit."
Emirate Xaaron peers over at the cartridge, and he comments, "That is rather subversive, is it not? The villain does evil by turning organics into robots?"

"Well, if it was done so involuntarily, there are definitely ethical ramifications of that procedure." He turns the box over. Huh, another game that doesn't have blood. Though the resolution is a lot more... vintage, than what he's used to seeing Bumblebee play anyway.
It's a very odd game, but it's got Optimus' attention. "Well, as a homebody, perhaps you could stand a little off-world culture. Just once in a while." He turns the cover to Xaaron and offers a curious look. "Want to try this one?"

"That thought has occurred to me. I do watch tee-vee with Pee-Dee to try to fill in some of the gaps," Emirate Xaaron explains. Junkions are very educational! "Some of the Terran police procedurals are quite interesting."
"Ethical ramifications aside, I am noticing a distinct tendency of these games to cast robots in a negative light, even the games dated to before our struggle touched Earth in the various timelines. Perhaps this explains the evident fear and loathing behind RAAT, if humans have an engrained cultural hatred of robots."
After that heavy bit of musing, Emirate Xaaron agrees, "Certainly."

It takes some time to find the appropriate console that will accept the game, and a little longer to find a pair of working controllers.1
Optimus talks whilst he searches. "This game's antagonist, however, appears to be fully organic. Perhaps the robots are little more than automatons. Where I come from, the human populace has no problem with automatons, and they happily accepted us Autobots as, uh, I believe the term they used was 'superheroes'." Optimus is a little embarrassed at that.
After some time, Optimus has managed to set up the system and insert the cartridge. He passes the second controller over to Xaaron as he turns the game on.
"2 Player versus... I guess that's what we want." Optimus fumbles with the controllers until he gets it to start.
"I guess this is competitive instead of co-operative. Sorry. Anyway, uh, good luck."
1Obviously these are homemade controllers designed to accommodate giant TF mitts.

Emirate Xaaron comments absently, "I have heard of superheroes, in reports back from Earth. A human with the powers of a spider aided us once. However, some of these other super-powered humans have hunted us."
He looks over the controller and is about to reach for the manual, you know, to read it and actually figure out how to play when the game starts.
In a panic, he does the only logical thing and mashes buttons randomly until something happens.

Powers of a spider. Snap.
Emirate Xaaron unwittingly introduces mind games when he makes mention of spiders. Optimus enters a mild case of shellshock as he remembers what happened on that organic planet all those stellar cycles ago. This results in the blocky pixellated fox with two tails moving about erratically whilst the blue hedgehog stands around, even turning to the screen to make a gesture for the player to hurry up.

Emirate Xaaron loves playing mind games, but he tends to use them as a surgeon uses a fine scalpel, not drop them in the indiscriminate way of a mad bomber. Frowning slightly, he turns to Optimus Prime and tries to tap him lightly - and he notices that the orange thing stops moving. Oh hey, so he's the orange thing? He can remember that; orange is close to gold.
He inquires softly, voice soothing, "Did I say something wrong?"

Optimus shakes it off. "No, sorry. I'm fine." He's obviously not, but he's clearly not wanting to talk about it right now.
"So let's see, Bumblebee usually presses this, and.." Hey, he got the little blue guy to move! The top half screen starts shifting to accommodate the hedgehog where as the blue sprite simply walks off the side of the lower screen. "I think this is some kind of race game!" Why does the fungi and the dinosaur race on karts, but the hedgehog and the mutant fox just go by sneakers?

Rodimus Prime walks into the lounge. He's done with his bridge rotation (since there are limited numbers of qualified pilots, even he has to spend some time up there), and has decided to come down here to unwind.
The sight that greets him is rather a shock.
Emirate Xaaron and Optimus Prime are playing video games.
They're playing... Sonic the Hedgehog?
Then he shakes it off and shrugs. "I didn't know you two played! I forget, is this one co-operative or head to head? If it's head to head, I got winner."

Emirate Xaaron lets a concerned look linger on Optimus Prime for a moment, but he doesn't press. He can tell that now is really not the time. However, he'll keep it in mind, and he mulls over what he said and what they were doing at the time - what could be the matter?
But he has a video game to play. Right.
Emirate Xaaron understands now that he can move left or right with the four-way button thing, and pressing one of the other buttons on the other side makes him jump. However, sometimes, instead of just jumping, the orange thingie hangs in the air and even seems to fly for a bit. Emirate Xaaron's not quite sure what triggers that, though, and flight is rather counter-intuitive to the tank Autobot.
He starts to ask, "So, why do these golden rings just float in the - ah! Rodimus Prime! Hello. I believe this game is head-to-head. It's my first time."
Jumping up and grabbing the rings seems to increment a little box in the corner. Walking into the robots makes the rings go away and the number go down, though, and the orange thingie doesn't look too happy. Perhaps he should stop having the orange thingie walk into robots, then?

"Hello Rodimus, sir." Optimus says, distractedly. It turns out the the hedgehog can defy gravity by running through a loop-the-loop that appears in the otherwise two-dimensional road these two are competing on. "We're just learning this game. It's not what I'm used to seeing as a video game where I come from." Roughly a century of technological advancement will do that to a guy!
When Xaaron starts jumping and flying, Optimus does his best to reproduce the results with his screen. He easily attains success by jumping. "Hmm. How do you do the hovering thing again...?"
He decides that when the rings make a sound when you collect them, they must be a good thing. Optimus goes back to the left to collect some of the ones he missed before. This now puts the orange fox in the lead.

Rodimus, of course, is from the year 2015. Video were advanced past Sonic 2 by the time he was babysitting Daniel, but there were a few 'retro' gaming machines about. Still, it's not like he played the old ones often.
"First time? Then maybe I shouldn't play you. Wouldn't be very fair." Rodimus may not be a top-notch Sonic player, but any experience is better than no experience!
"Sonic can't fly, Optimus," Rodimus explains. That much he remembers. "He's faster than Tails, though. Especially if Tails is flying. That's his big advantage. He's also got a spin-dash. Try hitting down and jump together, then let go." Rodimus shrugs. "At least, I think that's how it went. It's been awhile, and I didn't play that often."
The larger Prime flops rather informally into a seat and leans back, sprawling in a rather undignified way. "Daniel usually preferred Tails, anyway. The flying is a neat gimmick."

Emirate Xaaron grouses in a good-natured way, "Oh sure, tell him how to play the game."
So, he's stuck with a slow flier that seems to make use of rotational motion to develop lift. He observes, "So these characters are sort of Transformers? Mine does robot, buzzsaw, and helicopter?"
Yeah, he's counting 'two-tailed cartoon fox' as 'robot'.
Emirate Xaaron continues forward, gathering rings and avoiding the robots, as he hasn't the hang of jumping on them to kill them. He also doesn't make much use of Tails's ability to fly, as he hasn't quite figured it out yet. Optimus Prime should be able to catch up, with Sonic's better speed, as Emirate Xaaron isn't taking the short cuts that flying could grant him.

Why not? We have kitty robots and bat robots, after all.
"So what, I'm not supposed to get the rotating gold circles?" This game is confusing on so many levels!
Optimus tries the down-plus-button technique, causing him to hurtle ahead. The blue ball whizzes past 'Tails' easily. "Hey, that's pretty effective." he says, pleased with his execution of such a complex maneuver....
...right up until the ball hurtles so far forward that it hits an enemy, causing the many rings previously collected to go spilling onto the ground. "Blast!"
