Botanica nods and murmurs agreement here and there as Skyfire and Kup talk. She rubs her temples. Blast. She's the start of a headache.
Come to think of it, she can't remember the last time she had a proper sleep. Seemed there was always something needing her attention.
"Claw Jaw should be here in just a bit. But I am afraid I must beg off for the time being. My body is reminding me that I need more sleep than I once did."
She rises, and then moves to try and rest a hand on Skyfire's shoulder. "Feel free to search me out later, if you'd like, should you decide to plan sapient green-world scenario." She smiles, nods at Kup, then moves to leave.
Out of thread unless stopped/needed for something else.

Kup covers his face with his hand. "Skyfire, expecting it to go wrong is one thing, getting specific, though, is just inviting trouble." He lowers his hand and shakes his head. "Just ask Emirate Xaaron about Holi and the sky bull."
He looks up at Botanica and nods faintly. "All right, Vines. See you 'round."
As she leaves he looks up towards Skyfire. "Now, Sky, I think we already got down the generals of what we're doing, mostly, and the specifics are going to take time. So is there something you particularly want to accomplish on the general basis that we've missed?"
OOC: I'd really just as soon fade out on the nitty gritty details of scenario and training session planning.

"Of course. Thank you very much for your time, Botanica," Skyfire smiles. Even if he's off-balance enough to turn into a pedantic jerk, he can at least remember to show appreciation for other people's efforts and contributions. He hopes he never gets so bad that he takes everyone else for granted.
"Kup, envisioning a specific scenario does not increase the probability of it happening!" Skyfire says. "That's just superstition. People mention things that they feel are strong possibilties, so it's not surprising that they then happen." Scientist is a scientist, dammit!
"No, I think we've covered the general issues. Now comes the hard work part..." Skyfire looks a bit wistfully at Kup. "Though there is one thing..."
He cradles his head in his hands. "How do I get my 'edge' back? I've been off-balance ever since I came here."
--- Beyond getting personal advice from Kup, I agree we can fade off-screen for the detail work.

"Ghosts are just superstitions, too, but I've run into them," Kup snorts as his comments are brushed off.
He frowns, though, and then kicks his feet off the tabletop when Skyfire suddenly shifts tracks to the personal and awkward. He considers for a moment, then says, "Well... let me ask you this. How often you think about that ex-partner of yours?"

Skyfire sighs. "Far too much. I thought that after he tried to kill me, I could just forget him, and move on with my life... "
Skyfire sits bolt upright from his slump. "Blue stars! I sound like a complete mooncalf. I am an explorer and a senior researcher--he was my assistant and expedition partner, nothing more."
Skyfire looks chagrined again. "He was just so damn good at it. I got used to having him backstop me, catch my mistakes, make sure I had everything solid before I let it past the two of us. I couldn't get away with half-cocked assumptions and sloppy reasoning--he'd poke holes in anything less than perfection, and he could be pretty vicious about it."
"I feel like I'm trying to fly down two engines and half a wing; I can manage it, but it's not my best."

"Right," Kup states flatly. "So if you ain't over him, that's why you're off balance."
He leans forward, absently drumming on the tabletop with his fingertips.
"It's like this. Either find a new wing man, learn to fly solo, or stay off balance. Me, I suggest one of the first two, because keeping wrapped up in the likes of him ain't gonna lead anyone anywhere but trouble, got it?"

"Oh, I 'get it', all right," Skyfire says grimly. "I've been trying option number two; I just thought I was more successful than I apparently am. I think option one will work better, if I can manage it."
He spreads his hands on the table. "How did you... fit back in, when you came back to Cybertron?"

Kup shrugs. "See, by the time I got back to Cybertron, it desperately needed what I had: experience not just in fightin' wars, but in organizing defenses and, well, sometimes offenses, too." He leans back, hand still resting, tapping on the table. "Sure, there was some suspicion at first, some uncertainty - 'Can we trust this guy? Ain't never heard of 'im,' sorta stuff. Wasn't much left in the way of records from my first time on Cybertron, and what was there had me as a bit of a subversive!
"However, and this is where it's important to have a reputation for keepin' your contracts and what-have-you, but see, I had a reputation as a reliable merc- er, security consultant that I could point to among my off-world contacts."
He pauses.
"Erm, punching the occasional mouthy potential-client aside, but then, I hadn't been hired on yet, neither."

"A shame, that," Skyfire says, the ghost of smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "We might have worked well together. I hope we will in the future."
"Kup, any time you want to share a cube and talk about the 'good old days', or the 'bad old days', please come rattle my audials. They're still 'just yesterdays' to me, and it's good to have someone else who knows what it was like around." Skyfire looks a bit wistful for a brief moment.
The moment passes. "Who else is fitted for space operations? Synapse and Skyblast that I know of, who else? Who can be refitted easily? I will... want a teammate for scouting flights, when the time comes, and it would be good to, ah, refresh all our space training a bit."
--- fade out on planning and stuff after responses?

"Well, yer forgettin' about Omega Supreme, for one," Kup points out, because it's too early to mention Whirligig. Big Jetfire is right out. "And, well, for all. We don't have too many of the spacers," Kup grudgingly notes. "And I wasn't even aware that Skyblast was a proper spacer. The pickings are slim, there."
Kup shakes his head. "Maybe some of our fliers can be refitted, but I'm not the one to judge in this case. 'Course, the easiest ones will be folks from Skyblast's reality, since the can scan, but we still need something for them to scan."
He gives Skyfire a quick grin. "And, well, I'll take you up on your offer, but for now, we'd best get to work instead."
OOC: Sure.

Skyfire looks chagrined. 'I'm not sure how I forgot Omega Supreme. Well, shall we get to work?"
...and he settles in to work on the stuff they discussed and watching them work is so very dull that we all leave the thread...
