Day 26, open thread -------------------------------------
Preferring a lounge for the large windows looking out into space, Skid-Z has decided to spend some hours of his free time around one on the ship. Didn't do that much, mainly because the things aren't called 'lounges' for nothing....
But sometimes, on rare occassions, even Skid-Z likes to quiet the usual pulsation rate of his spark and to just slow down his thoughts.
'A flipchanger walks into a bar.....' Wait, wrong joke.

Accompanied by the sound of a repetitive jingle not unlike that of an ice cream truck, a small sphere rolls into the lounge, powered by rapidly churning legs of its even smaller occupant. Spy Shot has explored this lounge before, but he's not here for the room, he's here for the windows! He insists on regularly looking outside the ship from various locations to see if anything particularly interesting is happening in space.
Rolling along the edge of the room, Spy Shot comes to a stop below one of the windows. Putting on the brakes and shutting off the pod's warning jingle, the camera-bot opens up the hatch and steps out. Peering over at Skid-Z, he says, "Hello." Then he directs his attention to climbing up to the window ledge.

Ice cream truck? Ice cream! Oh wait. Spy Shot... Still, Skid-Z excited expression dims only so much. "Hey Spy Shot!" He greets, fetching an energon snack before walking over to peer outside. More specifically, the incredible colored cloud of a distant nebula consumes his attention.
Smiling, Skid-Z comments, "Still love space travel; the outside brings something new every hour"

Managing to heave himself up onto the window ledge, Spy Shot settles down as a camera to watch just that nebula. So pretty! Such fantastic spectral emission!
"I enjoy it very much, too," he says. "There are so many new things to see! And some of them are very pretty. Space is very big and full of things."

Skid-Z smiles at Spy Shot's enthusiasm. It reminds him of the first times he himself had gone off on spaceflights. Though, those were far to few for his liking, so this is once more a thrill.
No. It will always be a thrill. Skid-Z dashes off, coming back pushing a couch, which he positions in front of the window, then promptly flops down with his legs crossed underneath him. "On earth, have you seen the Aurora Borealis perhaps? It's the arctic atmosphere lights and very very pretty." Almost like the nebula, which is passing by them slowly.
A bright, happy smile appears on his face as he watches other aspects of space come by, "I do hope we’ll find a planet with other species of life, intelligent or not!”

Spy Shot doesn't look away from the nebula as Skid-Z moves things around, preferring to remain transfixed on the nebula. He's still paying attention though!
"I have seen a picture of the Aurora Borealis," he says. "It was in a magazine that I found. It was pretty. But pictures are not the same as the real thing."
Which isn't to say that he doesn't love pictures, too, he just likes to see things in person and make his own pictures.
His head tilts in curiosity at Skid-Z's statement, even as he continues to stare out the window, and he asks, "Why?"

“Because… that other one was ghostly; It had all signs of civilization…. Yet no inhabitants. It sort of scared me” An asteroid belt appears, Skid-Z quickly retrieves his data pad and begins to sketch the formation along with date and time.
“Are you not interested in other worlds? Even if we’re often forbidden to interact with them, I find it learnfull and interesting to hide amongst them, observing and taking in.... though that of course may just be related to work”

"Oh," Spy Shot says, not quite understanding what's scary about an abandoned civilization. "I thought it was interesting."
Continuing his contemplation of the view, he continues to answer. "I am interested in other worlds. I am interested in seeing everything." He actually turns his head for a moment to stare curiously at Skid-Z before looking back to the window. When the large Autobot says things like that, they sound a lot alike. "I like to hide and observe, too."
He's left with a question, though, and decides to ask, "Why are we often forbidden to interact with them?" The little camera-bot is assuming himself to be encompassed in that general we.

"Er, for multiple reasons, actually.... not sure if it's the rule for every environment, ehm, reality, of course" Skid-Z presses the tip of the stylus to his lower lip, thinking, "One has, of course, lesser technological advanced races who have not acquired spaceflight, or, have not met any other-worldly races while having that ability, and are therefore unfamiliar with the concept of alien races. Interacting with those - intelligent - races has consequences; it chances their lives, and you can't tell the effects in both short and long term. Even if the Predacons and Decepticons hardly keep themselves busy with those realisations...."
"And of course, the effects that interaction can have on you...." He trails away, thinking, then shakes his head, "Like, humans, for example! Some would be very welcoming and open to aliens, while others would be flat out hostile to your existance.... and it's not even slightly funny having to smoke out Predacon activity along with being hunted down by the local population"
He pauses to check Spy Shot's reaction.

Spy Shot doesn't really see the problem with life-changing effects on people and races. Is change bad then? He's always liked things that change. They're far more interesting than things that don't.
Being hunted down by humans, though, that's something he can understand.
"I avoided humans because they would kill me," he says. "If other people like humans want to kill you, too, it makes sense that you would hide from them and not interact."

Skid-Z eyes Spy Shot for a moment as he speaks about getting killed by humans, face serious, "For you it opens up a whole different side of them, doesn't it?" He bows his head, pondering, "I take it it was a pretty dominant view on humans in your case?"

Spy Shot gives a small shrug of his shoulders, looking back at Skid-Z. "Humans kill those who are like me. If you don't escape the box, they kill you. If you don't hide, they kill you. That's just the way that it is."
He says this all very calmly, as though it's just a fact of life, like 'if you go out in the rain, you get wet'. As far as he's concerned, it is. That's just what humans do when it comes to their technology-turned-robot.

Skid-Z leans back, "Hmm, not all humans" He tries cautiously, "Just like there are Predacons and Autobots...." His lips curl into a faint smile, "But you're here now, no humans to threaten you"
Gazing outside, Skid-Z frowns, tapping his fingers restlessly and fidgeting, before beginning to hum somekind of song picked up on earth.
It's not long before he breaks the silence."Ah... I could show you Earth if you wanna?!". Sitting quiet for long? Impossible with this guy.

Not all humans? Well, he supposes that could be true. He never met every human.
"Perhaps it is just Sector 7 humans who do that," he admits. Still, if he ever sees another human, he's going running and hiding like usual. Better not to risk it.
Having glanced back out the window, Spy Shot's head immediately swivels back around at the words 'show you'. Getting up quickly, he approaches the edge of the windowsill, staring curiously at Skid-Z. "Show me? How?"

"With that!" Skid-Z twists and points at the television screen set in the lounge, "And with this!" He next points at his own head, "I'm an HS scout after all, so I have boatloads of material. I can show you Asia, Europe and Africa, that's three of the planet's six continents!" With that, he jumps up, hurrying over to the media center to activate it.
As it starts up, he races back, holding out his hands to Spy Shot, "Allow me?"
