"Oh, come now, Rodimus, do give me a bit of credit. I am neither so crass or bumbling to choose such a location, nor quite so arrogant as to expect anything of you."
"Besides, you have enough people expecting things of you. You deserve more consideration than you receive."
Mirage sips his drink. He looks out over the room.
"You could have said no."

"I could have," Rodimus answers, taking another long sip, and taking the moment to quietly study the room. Things are rather... restrained so far, over all, aren't they?
Even adding a bit of gilding to the cage doesn't change the fact that they are all trapped together on a ship, Rodimus supposes. They need a break. If they don't make planetfall soon, he'll have to oranize something to keep their minds off the situation in the training room.
"I could have," he repeats, returning his mind to the discussion at hand, "but I admit that I'm curious enough to let you make you case."

Mirage's pleasant expression doesn't change but he is inwardly pleased. "A bit interested" and "curious" are not bad beginnings. True, nothing may come of this, and the spy never really expected it to. But he has ever been one to follow his whims.
"I appreciate that. But I'll not press you over it. When you are ready for such a conversation, let me know," Mirage smirks up at Rodimus, "In the meantime, I shall treat you as I do any other."
In other words, Roddy, expect the same casual and subtle (or not-so-subtle) flirting that Mirage bestows upon all those that catch his interest.
"My, but this is quite dull, lovely company aside," Mirage says, once more watching the crowd. "No music, no dancing, not even a hint of raucous behavior- oh dear...," Mirage frowns.
"Kup looks quite out of sorts."

"Yeah, he's been grumpy ever since the dead him arrived," Rodimus answers, looking over at Kup with a worried frown. "I've tried to talk to him, but I haven't been able to get what's wrong out of him." He pauses. "Well, apart from the obvious."
Then he looks around the room in general. "And yeah, I was just thinking that things have been pretty tame so far."

Mirage sighs, "I'd offer to talk to him, but I doubt my type of comfort is what Kup needs at the moment. Still, it is worrisome. He has been dwelling on this for awhile."
He sips his drink, then eyes the mix critically, "You know, this blend has a bitter afterfinish that gets worse the more you drink. Though it might be a reaction with the one I had before. I should have snagged a palate cleanser first."
He smirks, but doesn't look up, "That is what I get for letting a pretty face distract me from proper tasting etiquette."

Rodimus stares blankly at Mirage as he refers to his 'type of comfort' and Kup in the same sentence. He adds up what that means, then immediately his processors conclude that he must have come to an incorrect conclusion, because this is Kup they're talking about, and instead he tries to figure out just what Mirage really is talking about. The young Prime then decides that he has no idea.
Maybe he was going to offer to take Kup hunting in the hard-light sim room or something.
"Mention it to Perceptor?" Rodimus asks after Mirage's commentary on the energon, choosing not to remark on the comfort thing because oh god Mirage might answer. "I mean, he is doing this as a test run, I'm sure he'd appreciate the feedback."

Grimlock has been keeping to himself most of this trip, and keeping Slag from breaking things and/or other occupants.
For now, though, he has found his way to the party, found himself a drink at Perceptor's suggestion that is...very pink, and has an umbrella in it.
Pity the fool that points out how unmanly it is.
"Rodimus! You make it to party!" Grimlock would grin if he could! "Me no see you since we take off!"

What? Mirage meant that he doubted rough-and-tumble Kup would appreciate someone trying to coddle and comfort him. Really, Rodimus, Mirage isn't always thinking about sex.
"Mmm, yes, I'll mention it later," Mirage muses, again critically eying the mixture. "So, what do you think-"
Gah! Dinobot invasion! Mirage actually frowns for for the briefest moment before adopting an almost coldly neutral expression. How is he supposed to teasingly flirt with his mark with a bumbling oaf in the way?
"Greetings, Grimlock." Mirage's tone and manner is possibly much more like what Rodimus might expect from a Mirage, now. Grimlock is almost as bad as Nightbeat, in the spy's opinion.

Rodimus is a robot who thinks that magenta and yellow are a fine color combination. He's got strange ideas of 'manly' anyway.
Rodimus grins at Grimlock. He's been in this strange world for the friendlier (at least to him), more childlike Grimlock to not seem so strange, after all.
"Oh, I've been around, Grimlock. But it's a big ship - pretty easy for people to just not run into each other, at least in the short term."

Behold, Grimlock! Mighty warrior, slayer of Decepticons, bringer of comedy, and cock-blocker of flirty aristocrats.
The Dinobot gives Mirage a glance, then turns to Rodimus, not returning the greeting. Why, yes, he's still bitter about that training incident. Why do you ask?
"Me know you been around. Me saw you get on ship with White Prime," he answers. Grimlock still has trouble believing that Ultra Magnus actually looks like that, so he defaults to what he knows. He gives his drink a funny look, and takes a sip of it. "Plus, me been busy making Slag not smash ship."

So he is to be snubbed, is he? Good thing this Grimlock rates about as high on Mirage's social meter as that vulgar toy truck, else the spy might take offense. As it is he merely sniffs and turns his optics toward the more pleasant view of Rodimus's profile.
"You might avoid referring to Ultra Magnus in that manner, should you run into him Grimlock. I don't think he'd appreciate the comparison."
Mirage sips his drink. "I was started to ask Rodimus, if you'd managed to find any time for actual recreation since we set out. I must admit, I'm going a bit stir crazy myself. I'm unused to such travel."
Of course, that wasn't exactly what Mirage was going to ask. But...Dinobot interruption.

"Yeah, Grimlcok. Strange as it seems, that guy really is an Ultra Magnus. Not my Ultra Magnus, of course." He takes another sip from his drink, then swirls the contents of his cube. "But an Ultra Magnus."
"By the way, I think we all appreciate Slag not smashing the ship. Or other Autobots. Good job, there."
Then Mirage asks his question, and Rodimus turns towards him, confused. "What? Space is great!" He did spend a fair amount of time scouting the stars with Blurr on behalf of Fortress Maximus. That's how he met Kup, after all. "Besides, this place has plenty of entertainment options. There's the Biosphere, the video games, I'm betting several people have movies along, and I'm sure the hard-light sim can be used for things besides training!"

Grimlock's snubbery stops when Mirage points out that Ultra Magnus might not like Grimlock's little nickname. The spy is given a glance, then the Dinobot grumbles a bit, rustling slightly.
He might not like Mirage, but it is possible the spy has a point. Like it or not, Mirage did outclass him in the training, so he might be worth listening to.
Might.
However, Grimlock's mental dilemma is interrupted as Rodimus praises his efforts on keeping Slag in line, and this causes Grimlock to beam a bit, straightening up slightly. "Me do what me can!"
Then Rodimus points out other uses for the simulator, and Grimlock has an idea. "Maybe we program football into sim. Little squishy-thing named Spike teach Dinobots to play. Dinobots had fun with that!"

Mirage waves his free hand negligently, "Yes, yes, those are all possibilities, and I've already been making use of the sim room for non-training purposes. It's quite the excellent place to take a date, actually."
He sips his drink one last time, grimaces, then sets the cube down. A bit of searching and he finds the palate cleanser he was wishing for earlier.
"But we are still confined in close company, for all that the ship is so large, and imaginary escapes become tiresome after awhile."
Mirage casts a sidelong glance at Grimlock, then coevrs a small yawn. "There are a few stealth missions programmed into the sim room, as well. But I've beaten them all. You get a rather impressive paint job app when you do so on the hardest level, however. "
Someone needs to introduce Mirage to Metal Gear Solid.

"Football!" Rodimus answers Grimlock, grinning. "Great idea, Grimlock!"
Then he gives Mirage a thoughtful look. "Hnh. I guess I'm just used to it. I've spent a few decades on and off Cybertron, mostly off, on scouting missions for Fort Max, Blurr my only partner." He looks at Mirage and shrugs. "You do get used to it, believe it or not. But if it helps, before long we'll probably have to stop for power or supplies, anyway."
