"I think you got it right," Long Haul answers Elita, rubbing the back of his head. "But I really don't get how that all works."
He looks around. "So should we pair off or something?" Then at Emirate Xaaron. "Or maybe practice shootin'? I'm better at brawling, but I'm betting if the guys don't get close, they're gonna do you less harm."

"As far as I know, though I have not trained with another mech," Prowl frowned lightly. "There has been no interest. This is why I have been training early and alone."
"Whoever wants to train with me, if you have a preference, let me know. If you don't, I can decide who wants to pair up with who for practice," he says, the tone in his voice indicating a readiness to begin training.

Emirate Xaaron smirks and asks, "Can you borrow abilities from Decepticons? Perhaps null ray Starscream with his own null ray? Oh, I'd dearly love to see such a thing." He steeples his hands under his chin, looking at Elita-1 the way a child beholds chocolate behind glass, a promise nearly too good to be true.
He is curious to see Prowl matched against Oracle, he has to admit.
Emirate Xaaron suggests, "Do direct us, Prowl." Emirate Xaaron may be a leader of men, but he isn't one to divvy out who trains with whom.

Elita laces her hands behind her back and rocks back on to her heels, pitching her body forward slightly.
"Well, I imagine I could, sir, if opportunity presented. But I have to get in close enough to touch, so that would be the tricky part, I'd think."
She shrugs "It's why I've always been trained in a team-up, and why I concentrate on agility. And, um, I don't have a gun to practice with, if we go that route, Long Haul. I got trained in the basics, and my aim isn't abysmal, but um...," she looks a bit embarrassed, "We just...well, the Autobots at least in my reality don't often have that type of weaponry. It's specialized attack and defense abilities. Or what Prowl does."
Yes, she's blanketing.
"Though I... really can't say what our Decepticons might have. You'd have to ask Optimus or Sentinel, maybe."
Elita looks at Prowl then, expectant. As far as she's concerned, the Emirate just issued an order. Say what you will about her youth, she still knows how to respect command.

Long Haul rubs the back of his head. "No guns? Now, see, my aim is pretty bad... only reason I even got a gun is 'cos I was built not long after the end of the war, and really, this thing's a welder with a pistol mode rather than a pistol." Long Haul's thumb nudges a switch, and then he activates the 'pistol', the bright flame demonstrating that it is, indeed, a welding tool.
"I'd kinda like to learn how to aim, though, 'cos if, say, I'm protecting something, I'd rather not have to wait for whatever's dangerous to come right up next to me to take it out, y'know?" This may be why his future, villainous self gets a rocket launcher, though truthfully, he probably just does that because rocket launchers are cool.
Long Haul puts his gun away and adds, "But I guess any trainin's good." He turns towards Prowl, peering expectantly at him.

"Hmm, Elita-1, since you work with abilities, work with me for a moment. Long Haul, Emirate Xaaron, if you could work with each other. I'm not quite sure how well you each know self defense but from practice comes the knowledge of how to do so. If Oracles wishes, she can provide instructions for their practice." He gestures lightly over at the seeker and then turns and looks back at the group. "After a few cycles have passed we can rotate partners, if that is acceptable."
(ooc: I'm hoping that Oracle's role is ok, as she's mostly on skippable. If ya have a complaint, lemmie know, please.)

Emirate Xaaron grins at Prowl and says, "Well done!"
The more advanced student with the better combatant, and the two miserable non-combatants together. Splendid!
He tilts his head to one side, and he reaches down, closes his hand as if he's grabbed something off the floor. Then, whatever it was, he throws it at Long Haul, and he turns and runs.
It was nothing, actually.
This is Emirate Xaaron's idea of self-defense. Why stand and fight when misdirection and running will save his skin just as well if not better?
Self-offense would be different.

Elita-1 quirks a browridge up at the assignments, but says nothing as she moves a bit closer to Prowl. Her ability works through contact, so closeness is a must.
"Just a heads up, I do have to touch you to download abili- hey!" she exclaims as Xaaron takes off.
She grins. That's one way to defend yourself! Elita tries to slap her hand down on Prowl's arm and download before darting off after he Emirate. She isn't moving to quickly, as she wants to see what he might do once he realizes she's following,
OOC: I am working overnights this weekend, and am about to crash. I can't guarantee that I'll make another post before Tues morning. At least not a coherent one. So skip me if you can. Sorry!

Long Haul totally falls for it.
As Emirate Xaaron throws absolutely nothing at the Constructibot, Long Haul flings his arms up and ducks to avoid the nothing. After a moment, he realizes that nothing is flying his way. He lowers his arms and looks around, his blue optic band flickering in confusion.
"Huh?" he eloquently expresses his thoughts on the matter.
Then he spies Emirate Xaaron running, takes about three steps to give chase, and then stops and rubs the back of his head.
"Wait a minute," he starts. "If I'm s'posed to be defending myself from him, and he's running away, can't I just... not chase him?"
And here we see the problem with having both sides practicing self-defense!

Prowl had hoped they could be mature about it, and realize that partnering up would be "You attacked me, I practice defending, and so on," but instead, he realized that he just instigated a game of tag.
Prowl face-palms.
"You are su-... I... I did not intend for... Ow!" he says ow mostly out of shock as he is tapped by Elita-1 and then throws up his hands. "I did not intend for this!!" he says in exasperation.
"You! Attack him to see how he will react!" Prowl directs Long Haul and points at Emirate Xaaron. "That is what sparring usually entails. And Elita-1 you are practicing with ME!!" He calls to her.
He feels like he's directing children. Where's Bumlebee? He'd fit right in with this crowd.

Oh, but Emirate Xaaron is being very mature about it! Using a distracting trick and then running is totally his go-to solution, except when he, instead, decides he wants to nobly try to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
That never works very well.
But Long Haul is attacking him, huh? Emirate Xaaron keeps running, but he does observe aloud, "If Long Haul was really attacking me, I would just tell Omega Supreme that it was the other Long Haul."
That is a bit cruel but undoubtedly effective!

Elita-1 skids to a halt at Prowl's admonishment. "Oops, sorry! I misunderstood. Thought we were going to team up on each other. But if Emirate Xaaron's gonna use 'bait and run' tactics, Long Haul might not get so much out of this."
She takes a few seconds to check out what she copied from Prowl, then glances back at him, one brow quite a bit higher than the other. "Wow, you did go a bit accessory happy didn't you?"
She smirks, "Compensating much?" she asks, as she takes a defensive stance. Or seems to. After all, Prowl does have a hologram ability.

Long Haul crosses his arms and hunches his shoulders, sulking at Prowl's shouting.
"Sheesh! No need ta get all huffy about it! Ain't my fault you didn't make yourself clear atta start! If I knew alla this stuff already, I wouldn't be here askin' for training!"
The Constructibot was removed from before he had spent nine million years in a society that glorifies combat, after all. Or, indeed, was part of a military at all.
He's ready to just continue sulking when Emirate Xaaron mentions telling Omega he's not the right Long Haul. "HEY!" he exclaims, turning now to chase the Autobot leader. "That ain't right!"
It doesn't take long for Long Haul to realize that he's just not going to catch Emirate Xaaron on foot. While his alternate mode is far from zippy, it's still faster than running, and so he falls forward, transforming into a Cybertronian-styled dump truck (and growing a fair bit in size at the same time). Then, he rolls for it.

Prowl nods a bit, watching Long Haul transform and chase after the Emirate. He then turns his attention to Elita, holding one hand up over his chest, two fingers raised.
"I came from a time where Megatron was battling my small group, personally. It is foolish to be underarmored or prepared," he says softly. He sidesteps, strafing carefully around Elita-1. His optics glimmer for a brief moment, almost as if he recognizes his hologram projector in use.

Note to self: do not piss off the Constructicon, for he turns into a dump truck, and he can run you over.
Even if Emirate Xaaron was willing to endure the pain of transformation, and he isn't just yet, not for this, his tank mode would be no help. Dump trucks are still faster than tanks, and he can't aim.
So his opponent is faster than he is. he needs to do something to remove that advantage, cripple Long Haul so that Emirate Xaaron can resume running away. Some caltrops to blow out his tyres would be ideal, but Emirate Xaaron would appear to be fresh out of caltrops.
Hmm. He wonders just how well Long Haul corners, and how willing Long Haul is to endanger anyone else. Emirate Xaaron runs right along a wall and towards a corner. Certainly, Long Haul can just drive straight at him, but can he corner well enough to follow Emirate Xaaron if Emirate Xaaron switches back? Or will he crash right into a wall?
