//As I said, when I ordered the withdrawal, it was with the intention of returning at a later date. The thought of declaring Cybertron 'lost' makes me wince, but it's something I've heard before. Hot Rod's commander, Fortress Maximus, thought similar and tried to just abondon Cybertron. It didn't work.1 You can't leave the war. It follows. Refuse to face your problems, and not only do they not go away, they may become other people's. That's... not acceptable.//
//There are times, usually in the midst of battle, when questioning orders can lead to disasters, but I've never wanted nor expected blind obedience. There have been times when I've absolutely relied on having subordinates willing to question me, or even to yell at me when I'm being particularly dense.2// This last bit is admitted somewhat sheepishly, but the sheepishness seems to add a more youthful quality to his voice.
The scenery is changing from dense forest, showing signs of the encroachment of civilization. Rodimus begins to slow down in preparation for stopping. It wouldn't do to run into any welcoming party at two hundred miles per hour!
1 And why did Kup and Hot Rod go along with this? Mostly because the toy makers needed them on Nebulos to get their partners, because frankly, the whole affair is pretty darned OOC compared with how they're generally portrayed. Both seemed to actively enjoy fighting the Decepticons, and Kup kept trying to fight the Nebulans!
Grrr. Silly canon.
2 In Legacy of Unicron, Rodimus Prime's top advisors appear to be Kup, Grimlock, and Ultra Magnus. This seems to imply a leader who not only knows he needs sense knocked into him from time to time, and pretty much invites it.
OOC: I'll give it one more round, and do it on my next post, if that's all right.
