Post by Emirate Xaaron on Oct 21, 2007 18:00:04 GMT -5
Emirate Xaaron notices Kup's nervousness, and he could conjecture any number of explanations for it. He pushes such thoughts away, preparing for the arrival. He quirks a smile atSideburn's arrival and clarifies, "A welcoming committee, if you will."
But committees debate issues! Emirate Xaaron does expect this arrival to cause some issues, so the use of the term fair.
He nods in greeting to both Synapse and First Aid, who have been very congenial and cooperative, and offers, "Thank you."
Then, the time for Prime is upon them. Emirate Xaaron stands with his arms at his sides, with neither the secrecy of hands behind his back nor the angry defensiveness of crossed arms. He stands open and neutral but with his feet planted solidly in the ground.
As Rodimus Prime pulls up, Emirate Xaaron notes that he looks much like the descriptions suggested, but they were vague. He votes the slight falter when he transforms, but as soon as he processes just who Rodimus Prime resembles, his knees knock together, and only sheer force of will keeps him from kneeling. Emirate Xaaron knows that face well, for it is seared into his memory indelibly.
The face of Rodimus Prime is the face of Primus, cast in pale silver and framed by scarlet.
Bluestreak is certainly chatty, he notes with momentary irritation.
Covering his momentary slip, Emirate Xaaron steps forward and holds out his hand to shake. Another Prime, he might well hug, but this one is a stranger with a touch of divinity about him. He greets, "Welcome, Rodimus Prime. Were you expecting someone else?"
Mirage's lack of solidarity does not go unnoticed but it passes without comment

Nightbeat's just this side of observant enough to notice the moment's hesitiation in Xaaron and he finds that he doesn't know what to make of it.
He'd read the files on the Time Wars--as much as his clearance would allow, anyone, and possibly one or two levels above that, so long as no one asked--and read about how the two Primes had fought together to repair the fragile space-time continuum and all manner of other things that just made his head hurt when thinking about it.
None of which suggested anything about Rodimus Prime that would put the most unflappable of Autobots so off.
He settles for a polite nod in Rodimus's direction.

Grimlock...wasn't sure what to make. He had gotten a confused burble on the radio when he made himself known that he was glad Rodimus was there. The timestamp the Prime gave put him eleven years ahead of Grimlock...perhaps Grimlock didn't exist in this Rodimus' universe? Or Grimlock died and Rodimus didn't know how to react? That is a very saddening thought to Grimlock! So he moves around to be in front of Rodimus, meaning to say...well, Grimlock didn't know WHAT he should say. "...me Grimlock missed Rodimus!" he bellows out, charging forward to try and hug Rodimus...'cept in dinobot mode, that doesn't work so well, and he pretty much knocks the young Prime down. "Oops...Me Grimlock clumsy" he says, and thinks nothing of it. Rodimus is tough, after all! The Dinobot Commander proceeds to nose and nuzzle at the Prime like an enormous metal puppy with sharp teeth. Really, he's harmless! ---------- OOC: For those of you who would like visual representation of this, click HERE.

Kup nods approvingly as First Aid starts to set up, but says nothing to him, still watching the horizon. When Rodimus arrives, he studies him, and the corners of his mouth turn down faintly as his optics grow slightly sadder. It isn't the damage so much that bothers the Veteran, but the haunted look that underlies his expression. Judging only by what he's seen so far, this Rodimus has grown into his position admirably, but he seems to have suffered more for it than the lad Kup knows... knew.
The elder shoots a glance that silently screams 'Not now!' in Bluestreak's direction, then goes back to watching the proceedings. So wrapped up is he in the going-ons, he misses Xaaron's slip. What he cannot miss, however, is the way Grimlock places himself between the Prime and the Emirate and then... knocks Rodimus over.
"Grimlock!" Kup exclaims, exasperated, as he covers his face with his right hand. He then rushes forward and tries to pull the large dinosaur off of Rodimus. "Grimlock, you big, goofy -! C'mon! Can't you see the lad's had a rough time! Let him up so he can get his repairs, will ya'?"

Sideburn just gives Xaaron a shrug in reply, still grinning, then turns to wait for Rodimus to appear. When he does so, Sideburn gives him a friendly grin. And though most would think him oblivious to such things, the trained medic in him notes the other's momentary unsteadiness. However, he quickly recovers, so Sideburn doesn't mention it.
His friendly grin quickly melts into a frown as he takes in Rodimus' damages. The tell-tale marks of the different projectiles and even the cuts are familiar to him. Whatever force was out there knew he had repaired similar damages to himself and his brothers enough times! However, he keeps quiet for the moment. Who knew if these other universes had Decepticons capable of doing similar damage? Or he could have been attacked by multiple foes. Scourge couldn't possibly be here... right?
However, Grimlock's antics knock the frown right off his face. Though he tries to hold it back, he can't help but laugh a little at how the Dinobot greets Rodimus.

At Xaaron's thanks, Synapse looks away in pleased embarrassment. "Hasn't been a problem, sir."
Then comes Rodimus Prime. The mech is utterly large and imposing, at least in Synapse's own optics, despite what wounds he has garnered. A Prime, an honest to goodness (live!) Prime. Synapse winces as he takes in the other's damages. What sort of Decepticon was able to inflict this sort of damage on someone so powerful and so...legendary? Yes, Synapse has probably elevated a Prime's status to something more mythical than anything. But can you blame a mech that has done almost nothing but look up and look out in his life?
The powerful aura that Synapse imagines around Rodimus wavers a bit though as Grimlock proceeds to glomp the large mech. Once more Synapse finds himself extremely thankful that he has never known a Grimlock. His hugs look slightly painful.

First Aid’s not going to bother trying to help Kup peel Grimlock off of Rodimus. He knows his operating parameters, and manhandling dinobots is not in them. But he quickly follows Kup to Rodimus’ side – he did not like the look of that sway, he isn’t fond of the look of Rodimus’ injuries generally, and Grimlock, for all his virtues, does not make a particularly good orderly.
“You probably don’t need to hold him down, Grimlock,” he says evenly, “He’s never run from repairs before.”

That's what you think, First Aid!
Rodimus glances at Bluestreak and offers him a faint, but frustrated, partial smile. "Later, Bluestreak," he says, voice gentle but firm.
He takes a step forward when Xaaron offers his hand, but before he can grasp the other's hand, Grimlock places himself between the two. Rodimus takes one step back, straightens back up, and looks at the Dinobot expectantly. He's just about to ask what Grimlock wants when the Dinobot Commander knocks him down in his attempted hug and then begins... nuzzling... him.
Rodimus lays flat on the ground for a moment, staring blankly upward, mouth open faintly in shock. Finally he says to the gathering in general, "Now, just to make sure that I'm not, for example, hallucinating due to damages or anything, but... this is Grimlock, right? Grimlock is, uhm... nuzzling me?"
As soon as someone answers him in the affirmative1, Rodimus mutters softly, "Right, then. That's all right. My sense of reality was pretty broken, anyway." Then his expression switches to a smile, and it's a genuinely warm, if still somewhat confused, smile. "Uhm, yes, it's... it's nice to meet you, too, Grimlock. But could you let me up now?"
1 Kup will, if no one else wants to.

Bluestreak would happily keep chattering all night if someone lets him, but the warning looks he receives from Kup and Xaaron and Rodimus' order are enough to shut him up. He does hope he'll be able to talk to Hod Ro-- Rodimus later and ask him about his adventures...
And suddenly he's glad he's not Rodimus about now, because that dino-glomp looks like it hurt. "Um... yeah, that's Grimlock," he says in reply to his question, then keeps quiet again. It looks like Rodimus has had a hard trip here, and he doesn't want to upset him at all.

Oh, for the love of Primus!
While under different circumstances Grimlock's...enthusiastic greeting might well have been amusing, as it is though, there is but one reaction Mirage can make:
Facepalm.
Other than that, Mirage is playing the part of background filler.

Emirate Xaaron just boggles as Grimlock tackles Rodimus Prime. At first, he thinks that perhaps Grimlock means to attack the already wounded Prime, but his worries are quickly laid to rest. Emirate Xaaron knows what a hug looks like, and it looks like he just saw a very enthusiastic one. Emirate Xaaron has heard of commanders whose troops love them, but this is something else entirely.
At Rodimus Prime's question, Emirate Xaaron merely nods guardedly. Others have confirmed verbally.
He directs, "Do let the Prime go, Grimlock. He and I have much to discuss, and he needs his wounds tended to. There will be time later to acquaint yourself with him."
Emirate Xaaron wanders around to the other side, and provided that Grimlock either removes himself from the Prime or is removed by Kup, he offers a hand up to Rodimus Prime. The act is simple courtesy, and he thinks little of it.

Grimlock pouts a little at Kup's tugging, but relents his 'assault', and backs up and off of Rodimus. "Me Grimlock sorry...just glad Rodimus here and alive" he says, looking down to the Prime. He then transforms, raising to a half-crouched position, holding his hand out to help Rodimus up off of the ground.
"...who hurt Rodimus so bad? Me Grimlock never seen you like this." Well, Grimlock hadn't seen Rodimus as a leader for very long, either, but that doesn't quite matter to him.

Kup bites back the urge to point out that Grimlock has never seen this Rodimus at all, and instead takes a couple of steps back from the young Prime. Between Grimlock and Xaaron, he's got two hand-ups available, and since offering a third would force Rodimus to choose, he avoids that. Instead, he chuckles and smiles a bit sheepishly down at Rodimus.
"Erm... sorry about that, lad. Grimlock here's rather fond of your alternate number."

Sideburn just watches quietly, but he is waiting to hear Rodimus' answer to Grimlock's question. He's also interested in who did this to him. He may end up helping First Aid if the medic ends up needing help.
