So, after departing from the intersection where our intrepid hero spoke with Emirate Xaaron and Rodimus Prime, he valiantly bounds into the medical area! And by that, I mean he slowly walked in the door without an ounce of majesty!
The Narrator is glad that Grimlock is not aware of him.
Moving on.
Grimlock enters the medical area, glancing around at whoever might be in. "...me looking for Long Haul."

Perceptor looks up from a bit of circuitry that he is working on as Grimlock enters. How fortuitous; he had been planning on tracking the Dinobot Commander down after he'd finished this bit of work, anyway.
"Grimlock, when you have finished speaking to Long Haul, might I have a word with you? I would like to examine your current repairs, and I have a task I would like to discuss with you, if you are ammenable to such," he explains. He must be tired if he's forgotten such a simple thing as beginning a conversation with a polite greeting.

Long Haul is also in here working! Mostly, he's just rumbling into the area with a truck-bed full of recently replicated parts, created by feeding scrap metal into the replicator. "We're gonna need some more energy for that thing, and soon," he reports to Perceptor.
Then he stops as he hears his name, and shuts down his engine. Wait, didn't someone say his name?
"Who's wantin' me huh for what? he asks.

Grimlock just kinda looks at Perceptor for a bit. "...what ammy...amni...omni... big a-word?"
The Dinobot then looks over at Long Haul. "Um. Rodimus tell me Grimlock to see if you need stuff brought to medical place, or taken from it to other places. Me Grimlock bored and wanted something to do."

Perceptor sighs, nodding in response to Long Haul. Energy is running as low as everything else in their little camp. "I will notify Botanica."
"Amenable, Grimlock," he explains, pausing for a brief moment to concentrate on his soldering. "It means if you would like to. If Long Haul does not require your help, then perhaps you could help me? I have a task that you would, in particular, be well suited for."
No guarantees that it won't be just as boring as hanging out at the base, but... it will be New and Different, at least?

"Weeeeeeell..." Long Haul drawls out, considering, "'Could use some help getting unloaded. Else I'll have to dump it all over the floor and sort it out then. And something could break, and of course it'll be my fault, because I'm the transportation-type person, so's if anything gets broken in transport it's my fault..."
Someone had better cut the dump truck off soon. He seems gearing up for a long-winded complaining session.

Grimlock has an "...ohhh" moment, nodding at Perceptor's explanation. And before he can answer his question, Long Haul starts in. And goes on. Grimlock waves his hands, clanking on over. "Me Grimlock say Long Haul hold horses. Could have stopped after asking." Grimlock shakes his head a bit, crouching down and beginning to unload the green hauler.
At least Long Haul as bad as Slag with his complaining. Grimlock doubts that Kup and Omega Supreme would approve of how Grimlock would handle that. "Me be done in a cycle or two, Perceptor" he says, continuing to empty Long Haul's bed.
First, every mech wants in Long Haul's bed, and now they just leave their armor there all willy-nilly. If he knew what one was, Grimlock would feel like a cleaning person at a cheap motel.

Perceptor would appreciate it if Grimlock would use a slightly more delicate touch with Long Haul than with Slag, yes. They cannot really afford to have an enraged Guardian come crashing through the ground into this camp and destroy what little progress they have made - and more importantly, any of the carefully hoarded and rather restricted resources they have finally managed to collect or have salvaged.
"Excellent. Thank you, Grimlock," Perceptor replies, finishing his work on the circuit panel he'd been working on before setting it aside.
He finishes before Grimlock completes unloading Long Haul, and rather than tear into another project, seats himself on the edge of the bench he'd been working at and begins the repairs he'd been putting off in favor of other, more pressing matters of reviving and reconstructing more damaged mechanisms. It does not have to be aesthetically appealing, nor must it be to factory specifications, so long as it is servicable enough to Botanica's, Xaaron's, and Rodimus' requirements to allow him to leave their tiny base in search of the components he requires.
He'll continue working on his hip assembly, mending the scorched and torn plating and righting the cracks and warps in the servos themselves, until Grimlock is finished.

"Huh? What're horses? And why should I hold them? I'm already holdin' everything else."
It just figures. It's not enough that he has to carry around everything else, but now Grimlock wants him to hold these 'horse' things, too!
Once Grimlock has his bed unloaded, Long Haul transforms and brushes his hands together. "Thanks, though," he tells Grimlock. Then he sighs faintly. "Wish I was going out with you guys, but we gotta keep at least one tech back here, and I still needa get this stuff sorted." He kneels to start on just that. "Have fun, though."

"Me Grimlock no know what horses are. Me just hear phrase from puny humans on Earth."
Grimlock shrugs about it, sparking from his shoulder yet again, and grumbling about it while standing and backing up from Long Haul, looking over at Perceptor. "What you need me for?" Then Long Haul mentions going out. "Out? Rodimus say he want me in some kind of armor before going out..."

"Horses are a quadruped organic creature, mammalian in nature, native to the planet Earth, which humans at one point had tamed to provide the primary source of locomotive power as well as to provide service as a draft creature," Perceptor expounds absently as he continues his repairs. "Colloquially, the phrase 'hold your horses,' was used on Earth as a means to express a desire for patience."
Gosh, it's kinda quiet all the sudden. Perceptor looks up and realizes that none of his explanation had probably been wanted, or, really, needed.
"Ah... ahem. Ah, never mind."
A few quick adjustments leaves Perceptor with a slightly more functional hip assembly. A bit of cosmetic plating should do the job to seal up the last of it, which will leave his knee and the last of his scope mount assembly to see to.
"I will need to begin reconstruction of my scope at some point, however, the materials which I utilize in casting the lenses and crystals for the highly sensitive and specialized optical com...."
Pause. Rethink. He's speaking to Grimlock about something that only he is this passionate about. Rewind. Let's try this a different way.
"I need special sand, and I need help collecting it," Perceptor replies. "I was hoping that you might be interested in helping me if I were to get your flight capabilities resotred and produce some temporary armor so that Rodimus will allow you to go outside?"

So Grimlock gets the Transformers equivalent of a flimsy hospital gown for wandering around outside?
"I don't wanna hold no quadrafoots," Long Haul grumbles quietly as he begins sorting parts. He seems to have missed part of the point.
Despite the grumbling, however, his mood doesn't seem particularly bad as he finishes putting things in order so as to get back to repairs.
OOC: Just working in the background. Skippable unless he needs to come forward.

Grimlock looks back at Perceptor rather blankly while he jabbers about horses, zoning out for the moment, though snapping back when the scientist catches himself.
...then he starts up again. Good grief. Maybe he needs to go back to resting with the others.
Wait. Perceptor... Just went back and said it over where Grimlock could understand what he was saying without Grimlock asking? Huh. Grimlock is impressed. And appreciative. Saves him the trouble of asking and saves them both time.
"Me Grimlock interested! Eager to get meself out of stuffy old tunnels."

Perceptor nods, smiling. "I thought you might be." And, really, a bored dinobot is a bad thing, even when they have most of a planet to roam. A bored dinobot confined to a glorified sewer? It truly is amazing that nothing has been "whoopsied" into pieces yet.
Kup's influence, no doubt.
"Very well, Grimlock. Come have a seat and I will examine your flight components to see what we can accomplish."

Kup's influence along with the fact that Dinobot Dino Byte Snacks don't exist in-game... Yet. If anyone does invent them, let's hope they do it after a more permanent base of operations is set up.
Grimlock clomps on over, taking a seat where instructed.
