Inside the Arena, Day 15, after the Security Sweep thread has wrapped up.
Fleetwind dives into the small, uncovered section of the Arena in alternate mode, transforming as he passes below the level of the roof. He wasn't at top speed on entering, however, and he slows down even faster in robot mode, until he hits the ground, palms first. From there, he uses his hands to spring back into the air, though this time staying inside the arena, curls his knees to his chest, and somersaults three times before stretching out and touching down nimbly, feet first.
He stands straight up and his arms shoot in the air, as though he were being applauded, a wide grin on his face. Then, he bows. He turns to face another row of seats, and bows again. And so forth. When he finishes, he's grinning widely, and with a flourish, he lowers his arms.
"Thank you, thank you all! So, it's my understanding that we're supposed to be engaging in a bit of friendly sparring so as to get used to Autobots who are not the scum of the universe?" His grin gets wider, and a bit lopsided. "Or Decepticons who aren't, depending on what side of the portal you're from."
He once more lifts his right arm with a showman's flourish. "Well, I offer myself! Any takers?"

And lo, there is applause in the stands! Airazor is standing by one of the native-sized seats and had watched his entrance. She gives a low-powered, //Airazor here,// over the allied frequency to confirm herself, waving in Fleetwind's direction. She had been out of it for a while after the attack. She had actually faired relatively well in terms of damages dealt out by the evil Prime, but between her small size and her own body's reaction to damages, it still meant she was out of it as long as those who had fared much worse.
"I'd prefer to watch the first round. Our respective sizes might make even a spar a bit too lop-sided." Agility only works in your favor if the other party can't come close to matching it.

Evac, on the other hand, is just down on the arena floor, albeit a decent distance away from Fleetwind. Still, he applauds at the display of aerial prowess.
It had taken some time for him to fully recover from the injuries he'd received during the Decepticon invasion, especially the little air to air skirmish he'd participated in.
"Not sure what good it would do. You jets can fly rings around me without even trying."

//Fleetwind,// the Seeker return acknowledges over the radio, then he grins broadly at both Maximal and Autobot.
"My, but the Autobots of this reality are modest! Now I really can tell I'm in an alternate universe," he jokes, tone friendly. Then, he raises a finger towards Evac, "Though I'm not sure how many rings around you I could fly in here!" He points to the mostly covered ceiling. "This is the sort of environment that puts me at something of a disadvantage, you know." Then he turns and bows graciously towards Airazor. "Of course, my lady, you suffer the same disadvantage, and so I quite respect your choice."
Then he straightens and throws his smile towards Evac. "Well, of course, I respect both your choices. Truth be told, to be among Autobots who are given the option of battling me, and to see them turn that option down... it's truly encouraging!"

Airazor chuckles at Fleetwind's reply. "There are a few on our side who would probably be eager for a match, but they're only a small portion." Airazor relaxes a bit as she watches this Decepticon. Not completely, but his friendliness and understanding Just do not seem forced to her.
OOC: Sorry about the lameness of the post, just didn't want to hold up the thread anymore than I already was.

Evac shrugs his shoulders. "I'm not much of a fighter to begin with. Rescue ops is more my field."
He considers this. "Might do me some good to try and change that. Okay... I'll give it a shot."

"Ah, bravo, bravo!" Fleetwind enthuses, gesturing for Evac to join him on the field, motions more welcoming than challenging. "Better to try and fail than to live your life wondering if you'd have made it."
He smiles faintly, right corner of his lips turned up in a quirky grin. "Besides, aren't your kind, more than all of us, all about flexibility? Flexibility of form... but not, I take it, of function?"
He glances back towards Airazor and quirks a faint grin. "Eagerness is well and fine, as long as a bit of self control is in there, too. I'd rather be my fightng fit when it comes to battling our common enemy, after all!"

Airazor chuckles and floats up just over the stands. "There's that too." She tilts her head curiously as she watches them prepare. "What should be the rules for the engagement?" If they want a referee for the match, she'd be willing to fill that role.

Evac, just a little bit plodding in robot mode, moves out to join Fleetwind in the more open area of the arena.
"You're right," he agrees. "On both counts. Though I'd say we're still pigeonholed a bit by function. We usually try to adapt alternate modes that most fit within that."

"Oh, understood, understood..." Fleetwind replies, stepping back, bouncing lightly from one foot to the next, and then stilling. "After all, too much 'flexibility' leads to mediocrity. Being competent at everything generally means being expert at nothing."
Fleetwind looks towards Airazor. "Rules of engagement... hmmm. Energy weapons on low power. Projectile weapons... keep it small and non-armor penetrating? And for the victory condition... hmmm." He studies Evac for a moment. "If I score ten hits before he scores five, I win. If he scores five before I score ten, he wins. Sound fair, Evac?"
And a referee would probably be nice, but Fleetwind seems to be assuming that Airazor will act as one.

Airazor raises an optic ridge at the different number of hits, but nods, glancing towards Evac to see what his response is. She'll likely hover around them and call out hits when they start.
OOC: Airazor's going to be skippable unless she has something to add.

Evac's weapons are about fifty percent ballistics and fifty percent energy-based. He's got an autogun in his nosecone, side-mounted dual blasters, dual missile launchers and, in robot mode, an additional energy rifle. More than enough for this, if he's careful.
"Sounds like a plan," he agrees.
"Let's do this."

"Very well, then," Fleetwind flashes one final, stunning smile. Then, without further warning, he darts forward, firing with his right shoulder-mounted rifle even as he closes the distance. Left hand draws its dagger at the same moment, and he's upon Evac, stabbing forward...
...a feint. He dances back, drawing his other dagger as he does. That twirls in his hand, light streaming behind it as he darts in from a slightly different angle...
...another feint as he darts back out, now almost behind the Autobot. The daggers both most fast enough to leave light streamers, making it hard to tell where they actually are. A third leap forward...
...and with both daggers, Fleetwind strikes.
OOC: Multiple attacks in a single post done by arrangement with Evac's player.

Being from a universe of entirely different design schemes, Evac is largely unfamiliar with the basic seeker package of combining speed and firepower into one neat little package. He hadn't expected Fleetweind to be able to fire quite so quickly and is totally unprepared for it, taking the bolt directly.
Evac tries to get an arm up in time to block Fleetwind's dagger feints and attacks but like many Transformers from his universe, he can be just a bit plodding in robot mode. The daggers strike home, scoring hits and knocking him backward just a little bit. So far, it would seem Fleetwind is just too fast for him.
Not too shabby, he thinks.
Even as he does, he disengages his rotor assembly and whips in forward in a wide, cutting arc.

The pastel Seeker drops down beneath the wide swinging chain, though if he hadn't broken off the tips of his wings to use as daggers it would have taken them. As he drops his right foot striking out towards Evac's nearest leg as he does. Then, once the chain is past, he does a modified tumble backwards - modified because it must account for his wings. Now farther away, he springs back up into an upright position, daggers held in either hand, one leg slightly in front of the other, stance like a dancer frozen for a moment between leaps.
"Not bad," he encourages. "Almost had me with the chain."
