"That would depend upon their initial programming," Perceptor replies archly. That's what makes such reprogramming so inefficient; it is all intensive custom work which depends upon the basic programming being modified. It is impossible to even set up a framework to continue off of without accessing the original programming to begin with. Not a particularly feasible solution to fixing the error of their Decepticon's ways, alas.
But for the occassional pet or two... Perceptor smiles to himself as he hands over the cube.
"Hmm.... yes. That tallies with what I observed as well," Perceptor agrees thoughtfully. "And his thoughts on your request of him to see to your repairs?"

"At first, he didn't have time for me--too many of his own people to repair. I offered something I figured he'd have a hard time resisting, considering the 'Cons don't have one at all..." Skyfire smirked and fell silent, drawing the moment out.
"Starship schematics." Skyfire grinned. "I also implied that I was someone he could deal with--no idealogical biases in the way of business. I can probably feed him any information or interesting item we might find useful, now, if I present it as a 'deal' for something else."

"Ahha!" Perceptor replies, nodding. "Quite clever, indeed! And I do believe that there is no reason to share that particular fact with anyone else, for the moment," he muses.
"Did the Prime question you as to why you sought repairs from the Decepticons? Or anyone else," he adds, although, clearly "anyone else" is of very little importance than either the Prime or Perceptor himself.

Skyfire considered his energon for a moment, then nodded agreement. "Good advice, my friend."
"He hasn't yet," Skyfire replied to Perceptor's question. "But the truth of the matter--that I thought you were badly damaged and wouldn't be able to repair anyone soon--should be good enough. After all, it got me back up and useful to Prime's next advance without using up any of our resources, did it not?"

"Precisely," Perceptor agrees, now molified by Skyfire's explanation. Not to mention a possible advantage to utilize against these Decepticons.
"Anything else that you feel is important about that encounter? Is there any manner in which you feel that Hook could utilize the information which you offered him to disable your systems?"

"Only if I let him shoot at me. Or work on me again," Skyfire said. "Not like I have a remote disable switch or anything silly like that--just paper-thin armor compared to our ground troops."
Skyfire scowled. "Though I suppose that means that anyone knowing my internals well--like Hook or yourself--would know just where to shoot holes in that non-armor to cause the most damage."
He leaned forward, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I wonder how much these other Decepticons know about my imposter? They've probably fought him before when he came after their jets."
Skyfire sipped some more of his fuel, thinking. "This Hook does not suffer fools gladly. I caught some interaction with their Eye-Fire, who is apparently damage-prone."

"Oh? There is tension there?" Perceptor asks. "Curious. Hook must not consider Eye-Fire one of his. Hook and I had a rather... frank discussion regarding my pre-truce treatment practices upon his patients."
Perceptor's expression grows likewise thoughtful for a moment. "Or, perhaps he does view Eye-Fire as his and will not tolerate having his work compromised even by the mechanism, himself. Such would be logical for an extreme perfectionist."
Not that Perceptor knows anything about being a perfectionist. Not at all. Ahem.

Skyfire chuckled. "I got the impression that Eye-fire gets a lot of injuries, and that they annoyed Hook as if they were a deliberate imposition."
He spread his hands. "Who knows? I could be reading far too much into subtle cues. But, I'd go with the latter of your two theories, myself. He definitely wants any mech he works on to be a work of mechanical perfection when he gets done, and I'm pretty sure he wants said mech to stay that was as much as possible."
Evil Hook is not the first perfectionist Skyfire-3 has met, no...

"Hmm. I see," Perceptor observes thoughtfully.
Greedy Perceptor is greedy; he wants a Hook of his very own when they conquer these Decepticons. There are plenty of mechs to go around, here. Three is not too many, right?
That will come later, though. For now, Perceptor simply nods and tilts a coolly curious look up at Skyfire.
"Anything else?" he asks, looking to beginning terminating this visit. He has green fluff to examine, after all.

Skyfire briefly contemplated his empty cube, frowing thoughtfully. "I think we've about covered it. I should probably go check in on Oracle and TC, not necessarily in that order. Oh, one little thing... "
Skyfire set down the empty cube and said, "Regarding your observations of these alternate Decepticons, and the deductions and inferences made thereby--which ones do you consider truly dangerous, and why? Also, which ones are irrational hooligans best avoided if I don't want a pointless fight on my hands? I've already figured that their Runamuck is a nutjob..."

Perceptor quirks an optic ridge.
"That would depend entirely upon whether the Prime is near or not," he replies with a thin smirk. "Shockwave, for example, is incredibly dangerous when not under the Prime's influence. Conniving, calculating, brilliant, cold, and ruthless. The Prime, however, makes him less controlled, I believe, which allows for sloppiness and mistakes, and thusly reduces the threat he presents."
"Their Scourge, however, becomes more dangerous when the Prime's influence erodes his control." And just wait until they actually square off against each other!
"Duskwing is an irrational fool. Do not set your hopes on those wings." Because even if Duskwing wasn't dumb as a rutting rhino? Perceptor has certain plans for that slag heap.

Skyfire nods; either excessive amounts of 'teh stupid' in Duskwing really annoyed Perceptor, or something had happened--wait, wasn't Perceptor slagged by a 'friendly fire' accident? Right. No chance of getting that particular set of wings in his collection at all--not in any condition Skyfire would find enjoyable, anyway.
"And their Starscream?"
He eagerly awaits Perceptor's assessment of the Decepticon leader. The mad scientist has his biases, but Skyfire has a good idea what they are and can compensate for them--for Perceptor is brilliant and a keen observer of prospective victims others.

Perceptor snorts. "Arrogant," he replies promptly. "Self-centered, selfish, arrogant, cock-sure, brazen... Intelligent and perhaps even creative, yes, but far too sure of his believed superiority for those traits to be of any serious threat."
Perceptor's optics narrow thoughtfully, and a thin, calculating smirk spreads across his features. "He would certain present a significant challenge."

Skyfire chuckles. "Sounds like someone else we know. Still, that's a very useful observation; thank you, my friend."
He shifted his weight and stood. "I really need to head out and see to TC; I figure you've got some interesting new things to investigate what with those Other Autobots having to bug out and leave their goodies behind. Catch you later, Perceptor!"
The big white shuttle-former gives 'his' Perceptor a friendly wave, waits until the polite good-byes are said, and heads out to take care of things....

Perceptor nods, a mildly amused mask settling over his features as he tracks Skyfire's retreating form. True enough, that observation; beyond his little pinch of Botanica's green fluff to toy with, there are so many "goodies", or at least fragments thereof, to examine in the rubble of this once-base. Perceptor smirks and exits his workshop to see what trouble he can find.
Or stir up.
