"Don't go jinxing us now!" Wedge jokes, mood lightening as they draw closer to the compound. Yeah, no sandflappers or cons (though in other circumstances, Wedge actually wouldn't mind getting the chance to run into some of those) is definitely a perk that these grasslands have over that desert. Nothing though, compares to the cool comfort of a half-made tunnel. Absence makes the memory chips grow fonder?
The sound of snarling engines pulls Wedge's attention just in time to spot Swerve pulling away from Sideburn. //Everything okay, Sideburn?// The Buildbot's expression over the radio is tinged with concerned curiosity as he follows after the blue sports cars.
Wedge begins to churn through the field, little pieces of green getting stuck between slats of tracks. Going through the field doesn't take too long and he finds himself grinding to a stop in the shade of one of the buildings. One 'transform!' later and Wedge is sliding down a cool wall and half-sitting and half-sprawled.
"I've got nothing some auto-repair can't handle. All I need is a bit of a rest stop."

And that snarl is enough to get Swerve's answer across. Sideburn had doubted that the red racer would take him up on the offer, but he had to offer anyways. Teamwork and the need to look out for and help those around are too ingrained for him to do anything else. Part of it could be a cultural mindset (their universe seemed to be the only one where almost everybody was in specialized teams), though a larger part is a result of him being himself. His brothers had already been created when he came online, and so from his creation he had thought in terms of we instead of I. Oh sure, they were individuals and always had some time away from the other two, but major decisions were made as a group, and even lesser ones took the whole group into consideration. And then there was the part of him that just cared. It was the part that led him to enter medical school. It was also the part that made him watch others and the way they acted and interacted.
//Yeah.// Sideburn's expression doesn't match his reply, though. //I was just making an offer to him. I'm getting that he doesn't want to take me up on it.//
Sideburn checks his diagnostic readings as he pulls up next to Wedge, transforms (with the prerequisite cry), and sits cross-legged. "I got a couple hits on my back that could use someone checking on them, but most of the damage was on my shield and I can take care of that easily enough."

Gizmo pulls up to the compound and transforms, albeit silently. He contemplates joining the Build Bot and Car Brother in the shade, but decides not to crowd them and settles for flopping down in a patch of green just a little bit away, his arms, legs, and doorwings spread-eagled against the cool vegetation. Nice... being outside does have its perks. If it wasn't for dust, bugs, sandflappers, and trigger-happy Seekers, he could learn to enjoy jaunts outside the base more often.
"Huh?" He raises his head just a bit to regard Swerve. "Uh... just my door. Got hit and now won't close. Hurts a bit, too..." The damaged wing with the ugly char mark half-blotting out its Autobot symbol twitches as he speaks.

It's no night at the track…. Swerve eases to a stop and his transformation is slow as he sort of drags himself into robot mode, pushing to his feet from hands and knees. He aches. …But I'll take it. He cycles his ventilation in a deep sigh as he looks from one kid to the next; he doesn't quite shrug, then frowns and shakes his head. "Fine," he says, hauling out his toolkit and levelling a dull bronze stare on Sideburn, "you take care of what you can. I'll see to Gizmo first, then get to patching you up."
Speaking of, Swerve rounds on the battered blue hacker, gaze critical while he trudges over and peers down.
"Ya mind moving into the shade so we can do this?" he demands, voice less a bark than a simple, surly growl. It isn't the same tone or the same timbre that urged Gizmo to move when the sand-flappers were attacking, or the same that told him to run when the Decepticons were upon them. It's thinner, less barbed. It also isn't exactly a request; Swerve turns and starts for the shadow cast by a second structure, tall and rounded, a stone's throw from where Sideburn and Wedge have planted themselves. Gizmo's free to follow or not, but Swerve isn't about to work under the sun right now. The kid can wait if he wants to bask.

There may have been a time when Wedge wasn't part of a team, but that time doesn't resonate quite so soundly in the memory banks anymore. There's no room for data-bits on that when you're constantly being fed a steady (or sometimes rushed) stream of emotes and information from three other individuals who've suddenly entered your network. Said data would eventually be zipped and compressed to make room for all the new ones.
// Why doesn't he like accepting our help? // Wedge mutters, mostly to himself. His visage on the screen not happy in the least. // Doesn't he trust us? //
It's a moment later when the Buildbot brightens and turns to the mech seated beside him. "If you need some help, I'll be glad to lend a hand. I may not know a lot about repair, but I can follow directions if need be."

"Sure," Sideburn replies to Swerve, eyeing the red carformer's injuries. "Take it easy though, alright?"
He sighs, taking a moment to relax back. And to answer Wedge, whether the Build Bot had intended to say that or not. //He's probably got his own reasons. You read that entry he made on his home planet? That underground he describes sounds pretty nasty.//
After just soaking up the shade for a bit, he starts working on removing his shield. While it can come off, it doesn't do so easily. Who wants their shield suddenly popping off in the middle of a fight? Plus, it's the top part of his alt mode, so there's all the transform connections that need to be teased apart. He does get it off though, and starts repairing it.

"Huh?" At the mention of his name Gizmo perks up, lifting his head off the ground and giving Swerve a puzzled look. Did he just speak to him without yelling or snarling? Okay, so maybe it's more a growl than anything, but still...
"Okay," he replies, and he pushes himself to his feet and follows Swerve to the shady area. "Um... do you want me in robot mode or car mode?" Because some medics prefer it one way or the other...

Swerve has walked away from worse before; he isn't about to start worrying just because something hurts. He can still run repairs. He'll be fine. So he just shrugs off Sideburn's caution and focuses on Gizmo instead, eyeing the hacker's damaged door, sizing it up, before crouching to pick through his tools.
"Car," he answers. He couldn't care less either way, really – Swerve's pretty flexible for a mech who hates playing medic – but if the door won't close, he might as well make sure it's going to fit right when he repairs it. "Probably just warped or fused part of the hinge," he adds, checking for usable spare parts. "Easy fix." And quick, too. Smelt, if this is the worst he ends up taking care of on this trip, he might even start to get bored.

Oh yeah...that entry. // Right. //
Wedge fiddles for a moment as everyone else sees to repairs. For a few moments, he occupies himself with watching as Sideburn begins some self-repair and then the progress going with Gizmo and Swerve. Fingers begin to tap in the grass and the Buildbot leans back a moment to observe the cloudless skies. Wedge gives one last look out the corner of his optics at the rest of the group in repairs before pushing onto his feet.
"I'm going to take a look around the place, I'll be back!" Anything to stay occupied and to keep his mind off the sand still lodged in hard-to-shake places. Hmm...now if he could find some form of running water...Off wanders the Buildbot, turning a corner around the building that he had been sprawled against.

Hey, if Swerve gets too bored, he could always challenge Sideburn to a race. That would prove entertaining. Or at least the cussing would when he finds out that Sideburn can go faster than him.
Sideburn glances up from his work as Wedge stands. "Take care, Wedge." Wedge is a big boy who can take care of himself, but that doesn't mean that Sideburn wants to see him in trouble. At least, not any trouble that isn't caused by friendly rivalry.

"Okay," Gizmo replies, and he folds into his Dodge Viper mode, his damaged door hanging half-open. Good to know the hinge'll be a quick fix. Too bad about the paint job, but he figures that can wait until they get back to base. It isn't as if they'll meet anyone out here in the middle of nowhere that they have to make a good impression on, is it?
"Uh... is this gonna hurt?" he asks. He's not so much worried about the pain as he is just bracing himself for it -- if a sudden pain startles him, it could activate his self-defense system by mistake and jolt both himself and Swerve. He wonders if he should let Swerve know about that little glitch... but decides not to. The racer probably already thinks he's a wuss -- better not add to that if he can help it.

OOC: All handling and prodding of Gizmo for the duration of the repair session approved by his player.
Mid-reach, Swerve pauses and levels a look on Gizmo, whether or not he can see it now that he's in auto mode.
"Only if you want it to, kid," he answers. He gave Wedge the option of having the sensors shut off when he worked on the Buildbot's elbows; he did it to shut Mirage up after the other racer wiped out on that tree; no sense – not fair – to leave Gizmo without the same choice. And, as he feels in some little, long-forgotten and mostly ignored corner of his constantly baking processors, the kid's probably had enough grief for one day. "Gonna just take the door off anyway." And assuming Gizmo likes this plan, Swerve gets to doing just that once he's found an access panel and dialled down the sensors.
Swerve isn't gentle about the work – he never is, and Gizmo shouldn't be feeling a slagging thing – but he isn't unnecessarily brutal, either. Why worsen what he's supposed to fix? It takes some pulling and prying, but the door does come free, and Swerve scowls at the damage. Partially melted, not quite enough to fuse the hinge but enough to render it completely useless from the heat-warping.
"…Don't go anywhere," he mutters to Gizmo before hunkering down to work.

Wedge answer's Sideburn's call with "Don't worry!" and a backwards wave.
He passes one door in the building, but that's ignored in favor of an entrance that would actually fit his bulk. A bit of fiddling with a lock of some sort and large double-doors swing outwards. Wedge's intakes nearly cease as his filters catch up to work overtime with the outpour of organic scents. Hand over his olfactory sensor, Wedge ducks into the building.
There's something rotting in a corner and it seems as if there used to be quite a number of things living in here. But there's nothing else here except for empty stalls and moldy bales of grass--that and a hole punched through one of the walls. Whatever things lived here must have been pretty strong to have broken through...
Search for water momentarily forgotten, Wedge peers through the hole and dodges back out of the structure. Looks like he's got something to entertain himself with.

Sideburn continues to work on his shield. There's a lot of damage here and it'll take him a while to fix it all. Even then, he'll likely just have to make a whole new one with the replicator when they get back to base. Not off of this damage can be repaired out here.

"Wasn't planning on it," Gizmo replies to Swerve's order, and he shifts a little on his suspension to get comfortable before settling in for the wait. Wow, didn't hurt at all.
It's a fairly boring wait, and he's starting to think that having video capabilities might be a pretty good idea after all. He could be enjoying a movie or something while Swerve's working. And too bad he left his bookfile collection behind when he got yanked here...
