Hook hisses at the mecha-dragon and raises himself off the floor with his lifters. "No! Go away!"
He fumbles and finds a handle and some heavy wire in the scavenged parts stack. But there is still that little mecha-dragon down below. Hiss!

Perceptor glances up from gathering a few items of his own. "Oh dear. My apologies, Hook," he offers, interposing himself between the Constructicon and the mecha dragon spawn.
"No, no, little one," he admonishes, shooing Tiny back toward her small pan in the corner. "Leave Hook be. He has nothing for you, either."
"Please do not mind her. She means you no harm."

Hook hisses at her again on general principles as she's shooed away. He does not like that creature.
The Constructicon's feet set back on the floor with a solid sound, and he finds a perch to work on the partially-finished lens he has been meticuluosly shaping.

"Is she really that terrible?" Perceptor asks mildly as Tiny trudges back to her little pan of Energon.
Seeing Hook getting back to work shaping that partially completed lens, he has to make himself return to the converter to start a batch of enertea; he'd rather be hovering at the Constructcon's shoulder, watching the process. It's taking a conscious act of will not to crowd Hook and observe.

"Yes."
Hook works the crystal with practiced skill. One cannot call it ease, for the crystal does not make any alteration to it easy. The crystal has met its match in Hook's exacting patience, however, and he shapes it to fit the specs Perceptor provided.

"I am sorry," Perceptor offers, shaking his head. He doesn't even want to imagine how horrible the innocent little mechadragon's Alternate could be. It just seems... wrong to contemplate. Even if such ruminations would distract him from the nagging itch of his curiosity.
Fortunately, he manages to finish brewing up the enertea at about the same time as his own stubornnes wears out, and so he has two flasks in hand as he returns to Hook and peers at the lump of crystal in the Constructicon's hands.
He should be making himself useful by working on the rest of the scope components, but he cannot help himself and so stares, fascinated and impressed for several very long moments as Hook works the crystal. "Incredible," he murmurs softly, indulging himself in the briefest of daydreams of partnering with such skill on grand projects.
"Oh. Ah... here," he offers, finally remembering himself - and the extra flask of enertea he's brewed. He sets the flask down near Hook with a quiet sigh, and finds himself space to work as well. His scope will not construct itself, and he'll be back to normal much more swiftly if he actually contributes rather than if he continues hovering at Hook's elbow, watching.
Even if Hook does have very skilled hands.

"Why?"
Hook tenses as Perceptor comes over to stare at him, and he cannot help the length of line that slowly drops down his back. It would be so easy to snatch it up and put his hook through the scientist's face. His work slows almost to a stop as Perceptor watches him.
"Thank you," he manages to get out as Perceptor offers him the enertea. He sets it aside without drinking, though.
Once the microscope turns away to his own work, Hook relaxes and concentrates more fully on the crystal lens.

Why is he sorry? Well, it had originally been offered as a sign of sympathy for Hook's distress regarding Tiny. Now, though... watching Hook's tension slowly build, watching those hands slow and still...
"I am sorry for wearing his face," he finally offers quietly.

Hook pauses in his work, lifting his head to look at Perceptor. "It is not your fault. What he does is on his own hands and head."

It is not his fault. No, his Alternate's crimes are not his fault, and Perceptor knows that. It is also not his fault that his Alternate is such a horrid, monstrous mechanism, or that Hook cannot help but see his Alternate instead of him.
But knowing these things does not help, and he cannot meet Hook's gaze for long before lowering his optics to stare at his still hands.
"I know," he agrees softly, nodding. "His hands, his head." He pauses, before softly adding, "Our face."
He does not know how to try and make this less frightening, how to make himself less frightening, to Hook. In retrospect, he is surprised that Hook had even allowed himself to be led into these warrens, alone with Perceptor.
"There are supplies to produce more enertea," he offers, obliquely offering Hook the opportunity to make his own, and not force himself to trust Perceptor any more than he already has. He'd forgotten how much more of a chemist his alternate apparently is, or that Hook would likely have no desire to imbibe in anything which he has compounded.

"When I am finished," Hook replies.
And indeed, when he is finished with the second lens, he sets it next to the enertea Perceptor had brewed for him and walks over to the energon distiller.
"How long since you last recharged?"

Had it only been just that morning that he'd awoken from recharge? His chronometer says as much, but his spirit says something else entirely. Too much work in too short a time frame, and the constant worry for everyone, the depression of being forced into these dark tunnels, his Alternate dark shadow hovering over him.
Perceptor is tired. He enjoys the challenges, but not everyone's pain, and the pain is wearing him down.
"That would depend upon what you would classify as 'recharge'," he replies wanly. "To simply achieve a state of limited energy usage in which one may recharge physical energy, quite recently. To acheive a deep enough state to renew processor capacity... far, far too long. I do not imagine that you find much comfort in these tunnels, either, though."

"Hm." Hook turns his attention to the energon dispenser, making a few tweaks to Perceptor's own enertea brewing program. He decants two cubes, then offers one to Perceptor.
"Drink this. I suspect you can finish with the lenses tomorrow."

Perceptor accepts the cube without any hesitation - certainly none of the hesitation any of the alternate Decepticons would have in accepting anything from him. It is refreshing when he sips at it and he offers Hook a smile of gratitude.
"I still retain sufficient operational efficiency to complete a significant portion of the construction now," he replies, pausing to take another draught from the cube Hook had given him.
"And I am well fueled, as well. Thank you."

"You should likely rest, however. Merely regaining energy is not all a functional mind requires to remain functional." Hook pauses. "As I said, tomorrow. Your work will still be here then."
