Counterpunch looks up at the flag mounted on the ceiling, then around the room. All other exits collapsed. Annoying, but not unexpected. He looks back down the tunnel. So he only has to get the flag from where it hangs suspended over the maglevs, then get back down the tunnel and make it past the giant mining worm.
It can't be that simple.
Counterpunch scans the tunnel, and eventually finds some left over rubbish from the days when Gillanan was inhabited. Or at lease, simulated left over rubbish. Hard, and glass. A container of some sort. He hefts it, then heads back to the mouth of the tunnel and hurls it at the flag...
OOC: Description of results left to Hook's player.

The container passes through something, and an almost invisible line flashes into existence for a bare moment. Then it is gone, and the piece of rubble clatters to the ground in two pieces.
This is not halfway to the flag.
Meanwhile, Hook finishes welding Hellbender's plate back in place and goes to dig things out of the worm's maw. "Oh, if he survives and escapes with our flag, I will be highly impressed and have to vivisect him."

Hellbender double-checks that power to his crushers and grinders is O-F-F before Hook sticks his tools and hands in there. Chewing up Hook would probably not go down well.
"Er, from that Ah figure you got somethin' else for me to do besides chase down Counterpunch?" he asks in an inquiring tone.

Counterpunch sighs, optic band dimming for a moment, then activates his antigravs and enters the room.
To his credit, he even manages to touch the flag before it's all over.

Hook smiles at the sounds that echo down the corridor and finishes clearing out Hellbender's intakes. "That is correct-"
The boom of a distant explosion rolls through the subway station. This does not come from the tunnel Counterpunch went down, oh no...
"We have people unaccounted for. If you can dig, I want you to follow me while I investigate that. If you can't, go support Thrust."
Hook dusts his hands off and packs up his toolkit. He removes the welding visor last of all, then everything goes into subspace to leave his hands free.
Using his lifters, he lightly floats over the scattered chandelier glass and exits the subway station into the afternoon sunlight of the simulation.

Hellbender tsks at the sounds and seismic echoes of the explosions. "How much high explosive did you plant in there? Hey-- that last wasn't from here. Seriously. It's down the road and 'cross town a ways."
Once Hook is clear of his grinders and gives him the all-clear, Hellbender shuts the intake over the damaged grinders and gives the rest of his cutters, grinders and crushers a spin. "Ah can dig, just not quite as fast, and Ah got to wiggle some to clear up the mess that broken grinder can't handle. Following you, sir."
Hellbender slithers along in Hook's wake.

Hook transforms and rolls down the street in the direction of the explosion sound. Underneath his wheels, he can feel the rumbling in the ground of Hellbender carving through the city. It's oddly comforting. Now while he's on his way, he has a radio call to make to Eye-fire. --- Posting out of this thread and into Cannonball's thread. Hook should arrive at Cannonball's current location in a round or two.

Hellbender does as little carving as possible and takes advantage of existing subway tunnels and storm drains. It's when they don't quite go his way that he makes cross-cuts. It saves on energy. However, if others who are not his superior officers think that he can burrow through rock as fast as they can roll and pop-up cross-town or cross-country to give them nightmares, that's fine with him. His superiors know what he can actually do, and will give him sensible orders.
That, and he can burrow through earth or soft sedimentary deposits nearly as fast as a slow bot can roll. It's the hard rock and ceramacrete that slows him down. (Genuine Earth concrete, on the other hand... is fragile crap he can tear through like limestone).

ooc: arriving from Blackarachnia's thread
---
Wherever Hellbender is now, it's not near the location of what Barricade loosely thinks of as "Hook's Base" - a smallish complex of a subway station and the adjoining tunnels, galleries, corridors, stairways, and structures to support a once thriving subway. There's no one guarding Hook's Base when Barricade finally finds his way there, having followed Hellbender's subtle trail through the subway. At least, no one that Barricade has seen just yet as he checks space after space.
No obvious signs of passage, at least not until Barricade finds his way into room covered with the remains of chandeliers, glass scattered over the platform in almost decorative randomness.
Barricade doesn't have time to admire the pretty glass, however. There's a flag here somewhere, and he means to find it.
Another tunnel, winding into darkness, finally opening up into the actual subway system itself, and there, suspended over the tracks is a flag. Scattered under the flag lies the disarticulated scraps that bear Counterpunch's colors. Barricade smiles and looks for a rock.

Spinister's disembodied voice can be heard out of nowhere, //Game loss: Team Barricade.// Barricade is in charge by dint of being alive and not Blackarachnia. //Game win: Team Hook. Team Barricade may leave the game, join another team, or go rogue.//

OOC: following Barricade from BA’s thread. ---------
Thrust switches his attention from his sensors to his radio as Hook rattles off his instructions for the stations wiring, then rolls over with the flag to the torn out section of wall mentioned. Fortunately the majority of the rewiring is within his reach, though two wires above him require the flags poll to be used to unplug them so that they may be connected lower. However, between him looking over his shoulder constantly to tell where the other is, the fact Thrust has never done this before, and the last two connections will require him to find something to stand on, Hook’s plan will take a few moments to implement.

Barricade doesn't have any special ability to sense sparks. Barricade can't even fly like most of the other Decepticons here. He just has a stubborn refusal to give up so long as fuel pumps through his lines. Lines which are starting to run a little thin, in fact. He's left too much of himself spattered throughout the tunnels and sewers and subways, but there's still a goal in sight, he still retains enough energy to continue moving, and he still functions enough to do so, if poorly. He can't quit.
Lacking all the fancy abilities so many of the other Decepticons seem to have, he's utterly unaware of Thrust above him preparing to splice in those lines Hook instructed him to. He is, however, aware that he's standing on a rail that could become energized at any second; he just doesn't have any other choice of where to stand at the moment, and lacks that aforementioned ability to fly or hover over it.
It's a risk he has to take as he collects his rocks and debris and tosses it out systematically to map the flag's defenses. Very thorough defenses. He's not going to get through them this way, not without a hell of a lot more time and ingenuity than he has right now.
Perhaps if he could triangulate where the flag is hung from above, and dig or blast his way down to it from the next open area above this tunnel? Then he could circumvent all these defenses and snatch it right out from under the nose of all those well thought out traps.
A couple of carefully placed shots to bracket the flag from down here, with enough power to punch through even to the ground above, if need be, should help Barricade triangulate this position. His hand slips away, reconfiguring into the glowing barrel of his energy cannon that is raised into position to line up a shot.
Too bad for him that he'll never get to actually take that shot before that electric surge fries every relay, circuit, conduit and casing in his structure.
ooc: go for it Thrust. There's no way for Barricade to know you're there about to kill him, so there's no reason for him to not continue doing what he'd been doing. 'Cade's out, dead, as soon as Thrust posts it.

What a pyrrhic victory! Spinister is still making a tape for Hook. His voice announces:
//Victory: team Hellbender and Thrust.// Hook is dead; long live Hook. //End simulation.//

Thrust looks back towards the base one last time and says “you lose” to whoever’s down there, and then makes the final connection. He hops down off the luggage he had perched on as the wiring lights up and shorts out along with the track Barricade is standing on, and then watches the whole subway system blackout 5 seconds later, the only light down there now coming from his optics and headlamp. His sensors no longer detect the ill fated curser when Spinister’s announcement is broadcasted. They just may get back home if this Hook guy is on their side.
