Sorry, Springer. Your lecture has fallen on deaf audios; Perceptor is deep in study of the body, fascinated by the use of technology on an organic creature in such a manner.
"You assume that this creature was a domesticated animal, Skyfire," Perceptor chides. "It could just as easily have been a sentient being, instead. Possibly imported from another world while Gilannan still thrived, or perhaps having stumbled upon the wreckage of the world much as we have. There is, in fact, no reason why we transformers are the only life forms to have been brought here in the manner which we have been. Perhaps other races have--"
He breaks off from expounding as he is poking at the remains when his careful examination reveal a very startling fact.
"The creature is not organic."
Careful prying with a couple of tools reveals an access port under the flesh and waterlogged fur. A very cybertronian access port.

Springer steps up to the big ol' cat-borg, and prods one side of the thing with his rifle. "Organic or not, he's big, dead, and kinda ugly." He raises his brows in a shrug, then shoulders his rifle.
Though he quirks a browridge at Perceptor. "Not organic? Coulda fooled me..."

Skyfire leans over for a closer work. "Curious. Could this be just a technorganic transform, like Rattrap, in a larger size?"
He reaches down and gives the gun a quick squeeze and twist; there's a 'click' as cams disenage, and the gun comes away in Skyfire's hand. "Standard Cybertronian gun mount, I see."
Skyfire studies the gun closely, standing to one side so Perceptor can work unimpeded and unshaded. Finally he opens a hidden access panel. "Yes, definitely. Look."
Skyfire holds out the gun with the open access panel towards Perceptor and Springer; inside is the standard diagnostic port for weapon maintenance, plus the engraved model and serial number.

Perceptor frowns and continues poking away at the remains as Skyfire relieves the body of its weapon.
"No, you see here, Springer," he observes, parting the fur around the edge of the port he'd uncovered. "The being gives every outward appearance of being organic, however, the construction of this access port indicates more technological implants within. Your theory has merit, Skyfire."
He pauses to look up at what Skyfire has uncovered, and nods, unsurprised. "As I expected. When we make to leave this location and move on to the next, I would like to transport this body back with us, as well. It deserves further analysis. Rattrap may be able to offer some additional information as to the being's identity, as well."
"Springer, would you mind pulling the remains above the high tide line for now, while we continue with our original purpose for this visit?"
Perceptor would prefer to continue his investigation, however, they do have other work to do, and dissecting this cybertronian can wait until they have returned to their base and he has more appropriate, and secure, facilities to do so.

Springer pokes the big bad kittycat with his gun a few more times, then scowls at it. "Alright...kind of a weird choice for disguise, but that's neither here nor there, I s'pose" he says, grabbing onto part of the harness, and dragging the corpse up into the dry sand, away from the tide.
From there, he stands near it, rifle at the ready and watching the scientists, going into a guard duty state of mind.

"Yes... of all the people we have from all the worlds, someone may know him and/or what he is. In fact, I think I'll query the base when I file our report on this stop," Skyfire replies gravely. "Meanwhile..."
There's a click and a whirr as the protective cover on one of his surveying instruments retracts; Skyfire turns slowly, looking the area over. "I'm not picking up any unusual elemental traces from spectroscopy of sunlight reflected off the ground--nothing so obvious as that meteor out in the desert, in any case. However, if it were buried or even in shade, I wouldn't pick it up."
"No unusual radiations that I can detect," Skyfire added. "I guess that leaves plain old legwork and our Mark I optics. Spiral sweep out to about 1 kilometer from Omega Supreme's landing spot there?" The great white shuttle-former gestures at the glassy slag on the beach.
---- Time-skip the beach search, unless there's something you want to find?

"An excellent suggestion, Skyfire," Perceptor agrees. "And, if there are none who are familiar with this mechanism among our number yet, there may yet arrive such an individual."
While Skyfire begins his survey, Perceptor scans the area visually, finding as little as Skyfire has. "Yes, I suspect you are correct. Well, then, shall we?" And, without waiting for a sign of agreement or dissent, the red scientist heads off in one direction to begin his own sweep and examination.
Alas, beyond fields of glass and the odd geological sample thrown up upon the beach by the waves, there is little here that does not belong.
ooc: time skip ahoy! Skyfire? If you'd be so kind, unless Springer has any objections?

And with there being no dead bodies of interest, there are also no live-bodies-wishing-to-cause-harm of interest, so Springer spends most of his time wandering along near the nerdy bots' general whereabouts, rifle in hand.
---------- OOC: Timeskip is good with me. Sorry for missing this thread so many days, I completely did not notice the new post.

Once it's confirmed that there's nothing new of interest here, Skyfire transforms, loading the mysterious carcass into his cargo bay as he does so. "Springer, if you or Perceptor could strap that body down, I'd appreciate it. Best not to have it sliding around while I maneuver," the shuttle says, lower his bow ramp to accomodate then. "I'm planning on a high hop to the polar regions; Perceptor, do you want to retrieve the sensor array I planted there way back when, or what? It's still transmitting, when I can get an angle on the satellite it's bouncing off of, but the visual is obscured. I think it's buried under the snow," Skyfire says. While waiting on Perceptor and Springer, Skyfire also fires off a radio report to Botanica and Rodimus.

Some might be disappointed not to have found anything else. To Perceptor; however, it is just another data set to add to his constant calculations. It is a puzzel, and he will sort it out. Perhaps not today, perhaps not even this year, but he will sort it out; it is what he does.
"Of course, Skyfire," he replies, starting to secure the remains.
"And yes, I think that would be a good idea. The Decepticons may also consider making the rounds of the various arrival points. Best to deny them access to those materials and information."

Springer is quick to assist with securing the big catbot, then once again takes his seat while Skyfire prepares to take off. After a moment, he looks over at Perceptor. "Where'd I leave off before we landed?" he asks.

Thrusters rumble, and they're airborne. Skyfire puts his nose up into a steep climb, and once they are well clear of the ground, ignites his rockets. They thunder loudly; his entire airframe vibrates with that thunder.
"I believe we were discussing the disaster that befell your Cybertron," Skyfire says. "If you two wish to come up to my cabin, we'll be clearing atmosphere in a few moments. Rather nice starscape visible up here."

Perceptor settles back into his seat, feet braced on the floor, but back canted forward to keep the end of his scope out of direct contact with Skyfire's structures. The vibrations rippling through the shuttle's form would not be good for the delicate calibration of his precious scope, and he'd gone far too long without full functionality of late to be comfortable with even having so much as a single fraction of focus out of whack. He's not risking it.
"Yes," Perceptor agrees with Skyfire. "You mentioned a 'Cataclysm'. And a 'Thunderwing'."
He perks up at Skyfire's suggestion, though, and rises, hand steadying himself against the wall. "Why, yes, Skyfire! Thank you! I would very much appreciate that. Come, Springer. There is more acoustical shielding in Skyfire's cabin, as well. We can continue there," he beckons.

"Ah, yeah..." Springer mutters as he remembers, and nods after Perceptor's suggestion, going up to the cabin behind Perceptor. If there's seats, he takes one.
"As I was saying... that Cataclysm was something that Thunderwing had predicted would happen. He was one of the top scientists back home, like you guys were. Only difference being that he was a Decepticon, and his idea that disaster was going to befall Cybertron due to resource depletion fell on deaf audios. So...he goes off to fiddle with building one of those half-organic shell things I was talking about. Megatron finds out, and pretty much shuts down the project officially."
This seems like it'd be the end, but Springer isn't done. "...Thunderwing was not deterred. In fact, he continued, if only just to do it to himself. Without proper testing or anything... And it turned him into the avatar of the apocalypse he had predicted and intended to help us weather."

Skyfire falls silent after Springer says his piece; at the apex of his flight, he rolls, revealing the blue-violet span of the planet below them and the jewel-dust starscape above. Bright sparks glitter closer than the stars--orbital power-stations and defensive platforms.
"I wonder if we might find it useful to commandeer one of the abandoned Gillanese platforms for deep space construction--or at least a launch point?" Skyfire muses--then returns to the subject at hand as he dives back into the atmosphere toward the ice-white boreal pole. Auroras blaze in all colors; Gillanan's magnetic field is very strong.
"So your Thunderwing continued without taking proper care, and so plunged into disaster?" Skyfire queries. "I am not surprised that it went badly; judgment that is unsound in one thing--testing, preparation, precautions--is usually unsound in other things as well--such as the quality or validity of the theory being tested."
"The northern pole has very intense magnetic fields; our communications will be impaired, and if either of you has circuitry that is sensitive to stray electromagnetic currents, you will need to shield it or stay on board," Skyfire warns as he plunges through the atmosphere, in the eye of a firestorm of superheated plasma streaming over his wings.
Eventually, he slows, and the shock and head of atmospheric re-entry dissipates, and Skyfire spreads his wings as he heads for the polar arrival zone. It's a cold, clear day, for once... though anyone who looked out Skyfire's ports on the way down could not help but see the huge polar storm looming not far away....
