Fast, slow, rough or smooth. Rattrap's easy. A little touchy maybe, but easy.
"Of all the– Hey, Pigtails! Wouldja keep it down to a dull roar?" He is not going to smack his forehead. He won't. But he covers his optics with one hand and mutters something uncharitable about goofy kids who are mostly okay but just don't get it sometimes. Like he hasn't already done enough babysitting for one lifetime. And he's got a whole pack of them along. Does he seriously look that much like a den mother?
…Now that is one image Rattrap didn't need. He makes a disgusted noise and shudders.

Somewhere in the city, there is an Emirate Xaaron wandering around. Who let him out on his own?
Oh, right. None of the people back home who always told him it was too dangerous for him to go out on his own are here. (None of the people who would worry about him when he took too long to get home are here, either.)
Is that the sound of cars and assorted machinery and talking?
Totally noticeable. He's a bright gold robot, not a ninja.

Hey, Boondocker's no kid. He's just young-at-lasercore. Or something.
"Aw, c'mon, it ain't so bad," he says in regards to Firebolt's no music. "Nothin' wrong with havin' enthusiasm." He tries to stick some grin in his voice, though whether it comes across is debatable.

The Ferrari speeds up a little, even more excited, but then... Slows down. Her music shuts off completely, not even a sad song playing. She 'looks' over at Skid-Z and her visual self frowns, ponytails dropping low. "B-But I just wanted to go ahead. I... I guess I should ask for permission," she drops her speed and coasts backwards, ending up in the sort of middle between the slower vehicles and Skid-Z.
"Mr. Rattrap, can I go ahead too? I'm being good, I'm asking, see?" she asks, complete with visual self attempting to give him puppy-dog eyes (despite him not being able to see this).

Way out here, the entire conversation goes by Skid-Z. Not that he would feel even slightly addressed by Rattrap calling his company 'kids', because while his active years render him young, he's not all that naive.
In fact, his radar is working overtime with being the hound, and visuals pick up an unusual shimmer. A wild Emirate! With absolutely no attempts on hiding that golden sheen; plain sight: take caution. //Emirate Xaaron?// He hails on low frequency.
While waiting for an answer, he navigates the streets rolling closer, but slower, to the golden bot. Just why is he playing coy instead of blasting off to meet with an ally? Why, who says Skid-Z wouldn't be awarded for his trust with a faceplate full of fire in some kind of warped test? Or ....is he having paranoid thoughts?

A den mother? There'd be some bristling from Wedge if Rattrap decided to announce out loud that this was like babysitting. Wedge is quite responsible enough to take care of himself, thank you very much.
Wedge speeds up a little more to pull up next to Boondocker and Rattrap. "Hey, enthusiasm's a great thing." There's a very proud note in the buildbot's voice as he exclaims this. "Heavy Load always told me you do things with gusto or you don't do it at all." Enthusiasm. It's the Build Team's motto.
He can't help but sporfle a little bit as he can see Firebolt's attempt at puppy eyes to Rattrap. Boy, you don't see this every day.

Rattrap is immune to puppy dog faces even when he can see them; it comes with being a salty jerk. He props his chin in one hand and his elbow on Boondocker's roof.
"Too much enthusiasm," he grimly answers the pickup and Wedge, "gets people in trouble." And by people, he means the gung-ho ones who wind up in over their heads and needing rescue. Rescue doesn't always get there in time. He drops his propping hand to the roof again and turns his stare on Firebolt. "Stay between Skid-Z and us." No running ahead for the spunky chick. But not because he's just trying to ruin her day. "Then you can move either way to lend a hand without bein' too far," he adds. "Just in case."

Emirate Xaaron might well be startled to be hailed by Skid-Z, but if he is, he doesn't show it. He does so hope that the racer is feeling better. The poor boy went through a lot. Emirate Xaaron replies cheerily, //None other, Skid-Z.//
//What brings you out here?//
Sounds like a party approaching...

Boondocker would shrug if he could. "I s'pose that's true, too, Rattrap." Kinda puts a damper on him, but the rat's right. Life's not all sunshine and puppies and fairy farts.
However, you can't let that get you down, either. So, Boondocker just focuses on driving. He clicks his radio on, but keeps it low.

"And not enough enthusiasm means the job doesn't get done," Firebolt's voice is a bit annoyed, or is that confusion? Either way she settles for driving between Skid-Z's pace and Boondocker's pace.
She settles on a song to sing softly to herself as she watches the road ahead, wondering how Skid-Z is doing. He's mostly out of sight, but not out of mind.

Went through a lot... let's see.... were those desert memories tucked with the 'h' of 'horrific' or the 't' of 'terrifying'? In any case somewhere where even the visage of the other 'Bot can't draw them from...
Now the F1 leaps forward, approaching the elder Autobot fast from the cover of the streets. He flips and transforms, it's unclear whether he first lands, or waves. "Resource and material collecting, sir!" He answers cheerily, "Or... plundering the town for anything usefull... to be really blunt about it" That said, it doesn't stop him from grinning, pointing over his shoulder, "I'm running ahead on the rest, er! That would be Rattrap, Wedge, Boondocker and Miss Firebolt".
Looking around, Skid-Z cants his head slightly, "are you sightseeing? I could always fox them out of your way" Of course, that entirely depends on if the older bot was looking for some company yes or no.

Wedge makes a frown at Rattrap's answer but he makes no move to contradict the Maximal. After all, what's more convincing? Words or solid action? Though, in the back of Wedge's mind there is a slight nagging that says that Rattrap isn't entirely wrong--after all, Wedge has been on the receiving end of consequences for overblown enthusiasm before.
"C'mon Boondocker! Faster we get to the site, faster we can start looking and loading up." Wedge ups the revs in his engine and spurs forward. "Gotta show them that just because we're not racers or sports cars doesn't mean we're total tar-wheels."
Besides, there may be some things that come out to play in the city when things start falling into the night...

It sure is a good thing being ignorant of all these unhappy faces thrown his way. It's like selective hearing, only Rattrap doesn't have to do a thing.
That's also good because he's busy looking for a handhold to steady himself should Boondocker floor it to pace Wedge. He remembers when he had wheels and he doesn't remember being this much of a speed junkie. Sure, maybe a little, but there's a time and a place for these things! And Rattrap always preferred playing with explosive compounds and palling around with big, slow-moving construction and techie sorts anyway.
Speaking of speed junkies, though….
//How's it goin' up there, kid?// he sends to Skid-Z. The Autobot's long out of sight.

Emirate Xaaron looks thoughtful for a moment. Sightseeing? Oh, no. Not quite. He hasn't the time for anything quite so frivolous.
He shakes his head. "On the contrary, Skid-Z. Allow me to assist you and, ah, the others with the gathering of materiel."
Emirate Xaaron looks about, but Skid-Z is fast, isn't he? Might be a while before he sees them.

Boondocker does speed up to keep up with Wedge, but he does so slowly, mindful of his passenger. "Y'all kin open th' back winder if you need somewhere t' hold onto, Rattrap!" he calls to the Maxmal, then he answers Wedge: "Man, I tell you what, y'all ain't seen nothin' yet. Gimme a big ol' open muddy field, an' I'll go to town like I's a hound dog what done treed a raccoon!"
Might not make a lick of sense to the others, but the general idea is that he's not so slow. Or he likes to think so.
