While Rodimus speaks, Botanica's expression grows ever more sorrowful. It hurts her, to see Rodimus like this, for to her it seems he is in pain. It hurts her more that she has, however unwittingly, been the cause of it.
And worse still than that is the feeling that she has betrayed his trust, trust that he dd not have to give her.
She is silent for several seconds after he finishes, and then she rises, moving around the table to stand beside him. She very gently tries to lay a hand on his shoulder.
"I could apologize until doomsday, and that would not change the fact that I have wronged you. Nor does my own lack of understanding make my sin any less."
"I thought that by keeping my concerns private, instead of blurting them out on the broadband as so many were, that I was doing the correct thing. Now it seems that I simply added complications to an already complicated issue. I...I can not promise that I will not do so again; I've a tendency to speak my mind, especially when upset. And sometimes...sometimes leaders need to be questioned, Rodimus. Even when they have been doing this for millions of years. It is the very fact that you are so hardened that increases that need."
She shakes her head, "It is not doubt, but hope- a hope that perhaps there is a less painful way, that leads others to question. I for one would prefer not to see such a blossom pruned before it's time. And sometimes...sometimes it is fear- fear of becoming the very thing we fight against." Botanica has some experience with that emotion.
"I did not mean to betray your trust, Prime."

Rodimus waves the final words aside. That wasn't the matter he had been addressing at all, and for good reason.
"I chose to tell you, Botanica, and it's my fault I didn't tell Emirate Xaaron. Mine, and mine alone. And, frankly, Xaaron's right to be concerned that I hadn't told him. That I told you. I mean." He shakes his head and quirks a faint grin. "You know what I mean."
"Anyway, bringing the matter up in private is better than bringing it up in public. I suppose... I just. I agree with Emirate Xaaron on this one. I already said I didn't believe that a leader should never be questioned. I guess what bothers me is that you still don't sound like you understand why he handled the situation he did."
Rodimus looks up at Botanica, expression a bit confused. "You saw how I handled Optimus's capture, but you didn't seem to have a problem with that."

"Actually, Prime, I understand what you are saying all too well. Understanding, acceptance, and agreement, however, are all very different things."
Botanica sighs and slumps back against the table, hand still on Rodimus's shoulder, "Yes, I saw, and yes, I understood your reasoning behind those actions. I did not say, however, say that I had no problem with them. That is was the best way to handle it does not mean I liked the decision, Rodimus."
It is Botanica's turn to study the tunnel ceiling as she continues, "My main concern when I contacted Xaaron was the possible interactions of opposing Matrices, not to harass either of you about your command decisions. We do what we must, when we must, and deal with the nightmares and consequences afterward."

"I'm... not sure the Matrices are as opposing as you'd think," Rodimus answers Botanica, tone thoughtful. "At some level, they were drawing on the same source. They had to be. I could sense the ones from his reality the same as everyone else. Well, that is, when I can sense at all."
Rodimus gives Botanica a tired smile. "But, uh, I guess you wouldn't know that. It's, erm, a pretty dodgy ability, anyway. I mean, it's not like I get... I don't know what you'd call them. False readings? Something. The information just isn't always there." Or rather, Rodimus doesn't always access it.
"There was something about his Matrix that really disturbed Unicron, though," he adds. While he may regret some of the way he handled telling Botanica about Unicron, the fact is that she does know, making her one of the few people he can discuss this with.

Change of topic is welcome, even if the conversation still revolves around heavy talk. Botanica looks back down at Rodimus, expression thoughtful.
"Odd that. While a god is a god is a god as far as our reality sets seem to go, one would think- given how very different our counterparts were on so many levels, that there would be more of a difference between them. But such things are impossible to even really speculate upon at the moment."
She lets her hand drop from Rodimus's shoulder and instead grasps the tables edge, "Xaaron mentioned that he could sense your Matrix as well. A surprise at the time, but after recent...arrivals I can see why that would be so. But sensing others- I am not as surprised by that as you might think. My own connection allowed me to locate Primal and the others after Strika and Obsidian captured them. It is not something I have attempted to cultivate as an ability, however." She really thinks it was mostly just part of a spiritual bitch-slapping, but she isn't going to mention that at the moment.
Her brow furrows, "What could worry Chaos in such manner? Perhaps He did not like what He saw in the mirror?"

Rodimus shrugs one shoulder casually, right hand lifting with it to further emphasize the shrug. "That sounds as good an explanation of any. I'm... a bit fuzzy, since he's generally only fo- well. He's not talking."
He doesn't ask why Botanica never attempted to cultivate her senses - after all, he's the same way. His reasons are fairly unique, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have reasons of her own. So he leaves it alone, for now.

"Hmph. A good thing that, even if it vexes from time to time. It must be hard enough living with him, without him yammering in your head," Botanica says.
She straightens, then gives Rodimus a rather tired smile, "But I've kept you monopolized long enough, I think, and such...emotion-filled conversations are draining. Unless, you need me to stay longer?"
She emphasizes the question with a slight tilt of her head and quirk of a brow. She will stay if he needs, but she'd rather he take some time and rest.

Rodimus shakes his head, pulling the datapads near him. "No. You've... given me a lot to go over, Botanica. Good evening."

"Good night, Prime."
Botanica gives a respectful nod of her head before heading out the door.
OOC: looks like a thread wrap.
