OOC: Month 1, Week 1, Day 6. Tucked away in the comfiest corner of medical. Semi-private
Rodimus is still stuck in medical. The shorter version of "soon" is still not soon enough for his tastes, but there's really nothing to be done about it.
He's tried to read over the damage reports, the repair reports, and so on, and so forth, but eventually he got bored with that, so instead he decided to look into what the Event Horizon can tap into. Looks like they're still picking up Pz-Zazz broadcasts...
His optics flare brightly at one entry and he grins broadly. "Yes!" he mutters, trying to keep his voice low, but unable to completely keep the enthusiasm from his tone.

It took awhile for Arcee to process everything Kup talked about in that meeting yesterday. (You know, the one she was generic background filler for. >_>) Of course, she knew immediately after that she had to talk to Rodimus. She just... wasn't sure what she wanted to say. She still isn't.
Still, she has a pleasant smile on her face as she walks into medical and plops herself down on a chair.
"Well, you sound extraordinarily pleased about something, "she says, "How are you feeling?"

"Me? I'm great! I just wish Perceptor'll let me out of here," Rodimus answers Arcee, turning a bright smile her way. Given the discussions held the day before, he's got a strong suspicion he knows why she's in here, but he's not too eager to talk about that, so small talk, it is!
"And yeah, I'm pretty happy." He shifts and adjusts the holo-display so that Arcee has an easier time viewing it. "Crime rate on Pz-Zazz is going down. Not enormously, but notably. For the first time in... a couple of centuries, really. On-planet charitable donations are up, too." He beams, giving a distinct impression that he had actually expected something like this.

"That is good news. I know how much helping that planet means to you."
She laughs lightly, "And you know Perceptor isn't going to let you out until he's satisfied, and as much a worrier as he is... that could take a while."
Arcee shifts a bit in her chair, looks down at her fingers then back up at Rodimus. "Any word on Springer? I haven't been to visit him yet; I wasn't sure if trying to would be a good idea. I kind of went all hardaft on him when, well- when everything happened."

Rodimus smirks. "At this point, I'm only still in here to humor him! C'mon, Arcee! Kup can't keep me pinned down when I don't want to stay pinned! Do you really think Perceptor can manage it?"
At Arcee's next question, he hesitates and looks down at his own hands. "Springer's situation is... complex, and I... should probably avoid too many details just yet. At least... at this point, Springer is completely on our side. I'm just not sure he's entirely on his own! But..." He looks up at Arcee and smiles. "We've already got some ideas for a solution. Don't worry, Arcee. He'll be fine."

"That's good to here. So long as he'll be all right," Arcee says.
She shifts again in her chair, then leans over and tries to place a hand on Rodimus's knee.
"You should have told us- some of us at least- much sooner," she says softly, her look one of great concern, "Take strength in your friends; don't coddle them."

Rodimus touches his own fingertips to the hand Arcee has on his knee, just lightly, and gives her a look that's longing and apologetic and young, lips faintly parted, optics open. "I... I wanted to, Arcee. I really did. We were concerned... in my reality, Unicron has his followers, and we were worried about what would have happened if one them had come over and found out, and the more people who knew, no... no matter how close they are... the more people who know, the more often it's talked about, the better the odds are that somehow, it'll get out. The... the reasoning was sound, so I went along with it, and it turned out... I mean, Unicron seems to have even more followers here, but I..."
He leans slightly towards her as he speaks, expression pleading for her understanding. "I did want to, Arcee."

Arcee's optics dwell on the hand touching her own for a few moments before she looks up at Rodimus, head tilted slightly as she listens to his explanations.
"Roddy," she says as she brings her other hand up to cup the Prime's cheek. She leans in as she does so, such an innocent, familiar move that she really hasn't earned the right to do with this evolution of Hot Rod.
"Roddy," she repeats, "I do... sort of. And I know I'm not... you're not... we aren't...."
She starts to lean back, draw away, "We both have history with our respective counterparts in our realities. So, it still hurts to feel like you don't consider me trustworthy." She gives Rodimus a lopsided smile, "If that even makes sense."

Rodimus leans his cheek slightly towards Arcee's hand at first, but then when she talks of trust, he looks away, lowering his head in defeat.
"It wasn't because I don't trust you, either," he sighs, though inside, a voice too much like his whispers, 'Yes it is. And if it isn't, it should be. She's playing you.'
A scowl flickers across his expression briefly. Blink and it's gone. Then he lifts his hand to his forehead, as if trying to hold himself up under the weight.

Arcee's brow furrows. Looking as intently at him as she is, she couldn't miss that scowl.
"I think you do trust me, and I never really doubted that you do. It just feels that way, for some silly, irrational reason which I'm sure makes no sense. It certainly doesn't make sense to me."
She reaches up to try and gently tug Rodimus's hand down and away from his face. She also moves from her chair so she can try to sit next to Rodimus.
"You going to tell me what that was all about?"

Rodimus's hand is tugged down, and the young Prime shifts to let Arcee settle in next to him. As she asks her question, he opens his mouth to deny that anything happened...
...and inside, a voice like his snickers. 'Oh, sure, you trust her all right!'
'Mirage knows, but you don't want to tell Arcee?'
Rodimus winces and makes another face, then dips his head again with a sigh. He looks around quickly, making sure Arcee is the only one in hearing distance, and admits quietly, "Unicron isn't my only... rider."

"Hmmm."
Arcee slips one arm around Rodimus's back, and uses her other hand to cover one of Rodimus's own.
"That isn't terribly surprising, given what I understand about the Matrix in your reality," she says, "But I'm guessing this isn't one of the old bearers, given how you're trying to be secretive about it."
"Just tell it, Rodimus. But whatever it is, I will point out that if it's something that could adversely affect the group, you should just be open about it like with the other."

"No, no, it won't," Rodimus shakes his head. "He's... annoying, but there isn't enough of him in there to be more than just that."
"My alternate... when he was shot, he... tried to get out, to take over the alternate Scourge. I was trying to pull him out. I was acting on instinct..."
He sighs. "Most of him ended up in his own Matrix, returned to his own reality with the rest, but a small part, almost just an... echo, remained in mine."
Rodimus shakes his head faintly and then glances towards the ceiling, the best approximation on an eye-roll that he can manage. "He just likes to make inappropriate comments from time to time, is all."

"Hmpf, well that one can take his inappropriate comments and stick them up his exhaust pipe," Arcee grumbles.
She smirks slightly, "Though it must have been very inappropriate to make you forget yourself and scowl like that."
Arcee looks down at their joined hands for several moments. It's a bit embarrassing to admit it, but she misses Hot Rod. She won't say that to Rodimus, of course, and in a way he is a Hot Rod after all. Still...
"Kup says you're... aging really fast," she says, then her tone turns teasing, "Going from a sports model to a van must have been a big enough blow to your ego. Now you're going to have etch lines before your time. Tsk."

"Well, I'm not repeating them," Rodimus mutters of his alternate's comments.
Arcee's tone is light, in jest, and it is something Rodimus has known, had suspected even before he did know, but...
But it is also something he is still adapting to, and it is a blow to Rodimus. His ego, yes, but more than that. Learning that unless he can gather the strength to face down Unicron in a Matrix that the Chaos God has had years to corrupt, he will die of old age in a matter of centuries...
...it's terrifying.
So, though the tone is light, is teasing, Rodimus cannot respond in kind just yet. He lowers his head and shakes once, faintly, as he suppresses a sob, then fights to return to a more confident demeanor.
