Starscream rises to his feet and dusts himself off, turning around to face the supine Targetmaster. "Never assume your enemy's weapons are the only thing they can attack you with," he instructs. "Also," he adds, a rare hint of amusement entering his voice, "If someone has long arms, you're generally no safer right behind them than you would be in right in front of them. You'd do well to remember that around Bonecrusher. Now pick yourself up off the floor and let us continue."

"Yes, Lord Starscream," Misfire says, rubbing his wing. It takes him much longer than he would like to actually get up.
Later
Misfire pivots, trying to keep himself facing the opponent who is circling him. This opponent may be Starscream still. It may be someone else. It could more than one person, though if it is, Misfire is going to wonder who he upset.

Someone volunteered Duskwing for this job; there's a vanishingly remote possibility Duskwing volunteered himself, as Misfire, like Fleetwind, is someone he finds tolerable. However, Duskwing does not volunteer; he learned that lesson fresh out of the factory. He can, however, be bribed.
"One thing you gotta do," the dark blue and purple Seeker says, "is not just stand dere watchin' the other guy forever. Sure, you wanna take a gander at what kinda trouble you're buyin' into, but don't let him make the first move!"
As if to punctuate that, Duskwing lunges forward, a clenched fist stabbing for Misfire's midsection!

Misfire nods a bit tiredly. This hand to hand combat stuff, he isn't used to it yet. It takes a different type of stamina, and even though he's been spending nearly all his free time working in the sim room, he's still tiring of the repetitiveness of it all, so his timing may be slightly off.
When Duskwing lunges, Misfire tries to sidestep slightly, grasp that stabbing hand, and throw the Duskwing over his hip.

Misfire does manage to sidestep enough to grab Duskwing's arm and start a throw over the hip. Duskwing's metaprocessor is still going 'Huh? He's not supposed to do that' when his combat programming kicks in. He extends a foot, folding it hard horizontal and locking it to hook Misfire's leg as his body pivots over the red and white jetformer's body. Twisting as he falls, his own momentum that Misfire turned against him is turned against Misfire, to bring the other jet crashing to the ground underneath. Old habit tucks the other leg, bringing the armored kneeguard to bear against the nearest piece of Misfire's body--
--About that time Duskwing's metaprocessor catches up. "Hey! Uh, good move, dat. If the other guy goes first, you want ta counter. Only see, since I started dis dance, I still call the tune--you hadda counter what I did, and I sorta expected dat. You don't wanna let me keep doing stuff first, 'cause defendin' and defendin' don't win fights."

Misfire lands hard on his chest with Duskwing's knee digging into the jet kibble on his back.
"Ow"
That is totally Misfire's catchphrase now.
"Well, it's nice to see I'm learning something with all this mess. At least I'm improving faster than I do with my aim. Much, much faster."
He suddenly shoves himself up from the floor, twisting and slamming back with an arm in an attempt to dislodge Duskwing and scramble back to his feet.

This time, Mistfire's move is unexpected and Duskwing goes skidding across the floor, face first. He turns the skid into a roll, and the roll into a rise to his feet....
But while Duskwing is recovering, Mistfire has the initiative.

Misfire darts toward Duskwing, intent on taking advantage of that initiative roll. Misfire's foot lashes out, and if the Targetmaster's timing is right, the other jet will take a roundhouse kick to the head.
If his timing is off, Misfire will find himself overbalanced and back on the floor, himself.

Misfire's timing is almost perfect; the only flaw is that Duskwing saw it coming at the last instant. He ducks his head and twists slightly, letting an air intake absorb most of the powerful blow and the rest fall on his armored helm rather than his far more fragile face. The force of it is still enough to send him staggering with one intake dented.
As he wobbles, Duskwing says, "Uh, dat's another good move--or maybe not. I'll show you why in a bit. You see what I did? See, when you get hit, learn to take it on the hard points. See, everybody gets hit sooner or later, so you gotta learn to take it right, so it don't take you out. Long run, I gotta get dat intake fixed, 'cause it messes wit' my flying. Inna short run, better to get my intakes flattened then my whole head, see? An' if I gotta take a hit to the head, better it land on the armor than blow through my optic, see?"*
As he talks, he edges back, putting distance between himself and Misfire, and shakes his head a few times. Looks like his gyros got tumbled a bit...

Misfire gets back on his feet while Duskwing talks, but doesn't seem inclined to allow the Seeker much respite. The one thing he's had hammered into him during these sessions is that letting your opponent get set again is seldom a good idea.
So Misfire rushes again. At least Duskwing doesn't have jets on his back that can fry Misfire, or hands like claws.

Duskwing wasn't nearly as hurt as he was pretending--when Misfire gets in reach, he retaliates with a vicious one-two jab to the face and a hook to Misfire's mid-section....
Montage begins...
The training continues; Misfire gets his licks in, more and more often. Duskwing grins every time he gets solidly hit instead of getting angry as one might expect. He's getting pretty battered looking, but Duskwing is teaching and Misfire is learning, like he taught Mistwind the basics of shooting. It's something to be proud of.
Oh yes, he does show Misfire why that roundhouse kick is often not a good move--it puts you off balance and a quick opponent can trap or grab your foot and do bad things to you with all that leverage. He also shows Misfire how to look for signs that your enemy is foxing you, pretending to be weaker than he is.
Finally, the time comes when Misfire seems to have picked up on most everything Duskwing can show him... Probably a good thing, too, because Duskwing really could use some repair.
"Doin' good, Misfire, doin' good." Duskwing is staggering; his gyros really are rocked at this point. "I think you got it now.
---- Since I will be on hiatus, is it okay if we finish up with Duskwing here and Misfire can move on to his next teacher?

OOC: Totally good with that. Duskwing might be the last one, anyway.
Misfire backs off and slumps against the wall. He's tired and he hurts and he doesn't have someone's arms to collapse into when he gets back to his room.
Why is he even thinking about that?
"Yeah. Maybe," he says when Duskwing praises him.
"Thanks. Think it's definitely time for a break though."
