Tarantulas's player is sorry if it was unclear how Tarantulas was grabbing Epps. He was grabbing Epps with his front-most pair of legs, until Epps stared shooting them with his sidearm and Arcee shot one of them off. It causes him yelp in pain and release the delicious little sack of juices, but doesn't otherwise inconvenience him much. Tarantulas has a lot of built-in redundancy in the leg department.
The spider scuttles backward, switching to English to tell Epps "You don't get a vote! Tarantulas, terrorize!" He converts to robot mode, drawing his blaster and diving behind Rampage, whose large size and regenerative abilities make him an excellent meat shield ally.
"Computer, activate emergency defense protocol Omega-five, maximum power, targeting protocol thirty-seven dash six five alpha!" he orders, speaking into his wrist. Eight thin pillars topped with octahedrons telescope up from the dunes around the Predacons' hiding spot, encircling the battlefield. The octahedrons begin to spin rapidly, emitting crackling purple energy discharges. The Predacons are unaffected. The humans are unaffected, except that their hair might stand on end. The Autobots will find themselves moving as slowly as though their joints haven't been oiled for a few hundred years.
OOC: Mad science with permission.

"Ah-ah-ah!" Rampage chides, leaping backwards with a wicked laugh to try and avoid Kup's lunge. "Finders, keepers, Autobot!"
He flinches and growls as Lennox starts shooting him in the face, and decides to give the little morsel a squeeze of punishment. Not too hard though! He wouldn't want to end the fun so soon. Lennox might end up with a few cracked or bruised ribs, however. "Stop that. It's annoying."
As Tarantulas's devices whirl to life, Rampage must admit that while he'd love to murder him horribly and wear his hollowed-out carcass as a trophy, the scientist does make the nicest toys.

Epps drops and rolls when Tarantulas drops him. Then he pushes himself back up and rises up into a crouch. What's a kill shot on this thing? He doesn't even know! Epps chalks his hair standing on end up to all of the weird exploding around him. The spider-thing is hiding behind the crab-thing that has Lennox, so after a dangerous moment of indecision, Epps decides to try to shoot at Rampage's extremities, but carefully, because he doesn't want to shoot Lennox. Friendly fire isn't. Epps says grimly, "No, you don't get a vote." For once, conservative policy on illegal aliens might have some merit. Like Hell does Epps want that space-freak voting!
Meanwhile, Kup, who changes his oil like everyone else, though not as often as he should, is suddenly feeling like the time he was stranded on the desert planet of Bara Magna for a few centuries with just himself for company. The suddenly slowness is why he missed that lunge for the crab, of course. Now, Kup's default reaction to problems is generally to punch them, but given the slow slogging, he tries to use his creaking arms to raise his rifle and fire a glob of acid at one of the pillars. Of course, if the slow field affects his acid, too, it might not go far enough and just splash down on the sand. Kup demands of the Predacons, righteously incensed, "The slag have you done!?"
C'mon, rant while gesturing expansively and reveal all of the secrets of this evil plan, Tarantulas.

It is probably less Tarantulas's player being unclear and more Arcee's player simply not really understanding what Tarantulas looks like or how he moves in beast form.
Lennox yelps as a few of his ribs are indeed cracked, but manages to not drop his gun. Since shooting the boogly in the face didn't seem to bother him, Lennox tries shots at various other parts of Rampage's body. Hopefully he'll hit something that matters.
Like Kup, Arcee shifts her fire to one of the pillars. Of course, slow as she's moving, who knows what could happen in the meantime.

Tarantulas looks like someone distilled death metal music into a liquid and injected it into a spider, and moves like the nightmares of a thousand primitive flesh creatures given substance.
The spider takes careful aim at Epps and shoots a stasis web at him. If it works the same way on humans as it does on other hapless juicy mammals, it'll immobilize him, but not drain his energy the way it would on a mechanoid. Provided it hits, of course. "It's fun when you struggle, but I have to draw the line at returning fire," he quips, laughing maniacally at his own joke.
"I'm afraid it'd all be over your head, guzzler," the spider responds to Kup, peeking out from behind Rampage. "I'll be sure to give you a nice long education in the subject once I've got you tied down," he says. His optic band goes wide when the Autobots start shooting at the pillars though. The field doesn't slow projectiles or energy bursts? It's supposed to target to Autobot and Maximal energy signatures! He tested it on weapons recovered from Autobot DOAs on Ship! Stupid alternate realities! //Rampage, they're going for the pillars! Stop them!// he transmits desperately.

Rampage grumbles wordlessly to himself, twitching slightly as Lennox's bullets ping against his carapace, but his annoyance is mostly at Tarantulas ordering him around. The spider does have a point though. The pillars are extremely useful. As much as it galls him to admit it, two full-sized Autobots may be more than Rampage can handle with only Tarantulas for back-up.
"Catch!" he calls with a mad chortle and tosses the human in his grip at Arcee.
Claws free, Rampage transforms into tank mode, getting ready to fire a missile barrage at Kup.

Epps is caught in a glowing spider-web and has just the words for this situation, "Aw, Hell no!"
Tarantulas wants to tie Kup down, too? When there's Arcee around? This situation is getting extremely perverse. Kup says slowly, because slow is all he can manage right now, "Don't think you could handle this much Autobot, spider-boy."
Given that Tarantulas's optics widened over the shooting, Kup starts pulling the trigger again to shoot at the pillar some more. Kup is all for doing things that upset mad scientists. Unfortunately, he knows he won't be able to do anything in time about Lennox. He hopes that Arcee can.
He also can't dodge those happy-faced missiles, which pack a lot more punch than Kup was expecting from a Predacon. He falls down on one knee, hip severely damaged.

Arcee drops her rifle into subspace as she dives in such gratuitous slow-motion that even Michael Bay would be jealous. The problem is that she is moving at a snails pace while Lennox is traveling at normal speeds, which means the Lennox smacks hard into the sand before she can reach him. Thankfully, he rolls down the sand. Otherwise, Arcee would probably have landed on top of him. Eventually.

It seems that Kup and Arcee aren't the only ones moving slower than they'd like...
Rodimus, for his part, would have preferred to have gotten here sooner - it had really just been a whim that had led him to head out to join Arcee and Kup, a desire to spend some time with two of his dearest friends, just like old times. Well. Different old times. With alternate versions. Damn it.
Of course, Rodimus had regretted that whim once the space bridge deposited him off the mark and with a case of space-bridge sickness, but at least it meant that he was already on his way when Kup's call had come over the radio.
And now he bursts onto the scene, roaring over the high dune that had been hiding him and going airborne for a moment, throwing sand into the air as he does. His engine roars proudly as he touches down, and he immediately aims himself for one of those pillars.
"Heard you guys had a bit of a pest problem here!" he observes. "Seems the desert's just full of nasty little critters, doesn't it?"

"Perhaps not all at once," Tarantulas replies to Kup, mouthparts rustling. "I'll have to cut you into more manageable pieces," he adds, launching a salvo of missiles from his shoulder toward the veteran Autobot. They're not as damaging as Rampage's missiles, but they're what he has.
The spider cackles maniacally when Kup falls down and and breaks his hip, because he is old and he broke a hip, which is hilarious. The female is busy dealing with the human, so she's not a problem right this second. They can finish off the geezer, then deal with-
-Rodimus Prime. "Where's a Waspinator when you want one?" Tarantulas mutters under his breath, dropping into Transmetal vehicle mode and accelerating on an intercept course toward the Prime. He needs more meat shields in his life.

Tossing his head back and laughing uproariously like the maniac he is, Rampage continues his barrage on Kup, treads churning sand as he slowly advances. Let Tarantulas deal with their new arrival. Maybe he'll get himself killed and Rampage can laugh at his misfortune. For now, Rampage is busy having fun. Let's see if he can break Kup's other hip...

"Pest problem? Yeah, we just got one more," Kup snaps back to Rodimus Prime.
When the missiles from Tarantulas and Rampage come at him, Kup starts to drop and roll, hoping the spray of sand will confuse the missiles. However, he's slower than usual, so the spray of sand isn't all that impressive, and a bunch more missiles hit him in the back. Tarantulas's don't do much, but Rampage's do.
So Tarantulas and Rampage are both shooting at Kup. Clearly this is the time for Arcee to do something surprising and awesome.

Arcee should probably do something surprising and awesome, however her player has no idea what that something might be because she fails at action rp. So Kup will have to deal with something predictable and uninspiring from the token Action Girl.
She's moving too slow, but even slowed, she should be faster in vehicle mode than in robot mode. Arcee transforms and speeds (for a relative definition of "speeds") toward Rampage. Hopefully the Predacon is so busy trying to break Kup's other hip that he won't react quickly enough.
Lennox picks himself up and shakes himself in an attempt to knock off some of the sand. He's holding one arm tight around his ribs, and he's breath is ragged. Since the Giant Alien Robots seem to have forgotten the Puny Humans, Lennox pulls out a knife and limps his way over to Epps to try and cut his friend free.

Rodimus doesn't bother to slow down or change course as he sees Tarantulas heading towards him. He just mutters, "You've got to be kidding." If he has to run the spider down to take out the pillar, he will!
He snorts at Kup's comment. "You need to get your optics checked, old man. I'm not the pest, I'm the exterminator!"
Rodimus, with his focus on running down the pillar, hasn't yet seen the humans, though the Autobots would be better able to protect them if they're not hampered.
OOC: Because the pillar is being run by Tarantulas, I'm leaving it to him whether or not it takes the hit, and the effects of such.

Tarantulas isn't playing chicken with Rodimus Prime, he's coming at him at an angle! He's crazy, not stupid.
Normally things might be different, but as they stand at the moment, Tarantulas is quite a bit faster than the flaming space Winnebago. However, he doesn't want all of Rodimus's mass hitting his science project, even at low speed. The spider attempts to ramp off a sand dune and land on the Prime's back. Hopefully if he can find a place to sink his fangs in, he can stop the Autobot and keep him from smashing into the pillar.
Taking a single pillar out won't disable the field, but it will weaken it. Considering who they're up against, Tarantulas would rather that didn't happen.
