Skylar gives Rachael the most wide-eyed look, blinking slowly as the other woman lists the different types of cuisine. The sheer amount of different kinds of cuisine was frankly boggling. There was also some humiliation from Rachael paying it, even though it was logically sound considering she had a higher income.
“... French?” she somewhat squeaks despite her deep voice; it was a completely random choice but frankly she didn’t really know what to say.

Rachael makes no remark on Skylar's unease; she simply nods and dials the restaurant, making guesses as to what her roommate might enjoy for dinner. Once the host on the other end of the line quotes a delivery time, she hangs up.
"Half an hour," she says simply as she takes her seat.

“... I see.” How in the world did Rachael manage to be so calm about all this? Skylar felt like she’d just dealt with some bizarre alien ritual on Pz-Zazz. Skylar the human wasn’t half as concerned about the utter weirdness of it so much as its indignity and Skystrike struggled with that for a moment, stuck halfway between anger and humiliation and weirded-outness.
Outwardly, the expression of baffled nervousness transmutes back into a more familiar thoughtful neutrality. For all the little that she actually knows about Wreckage, she knows enough that what had just occurred wasn’t necessarily an attempt at chaining Skylar into a debt; complex, manipulative social skills, Decepticon and otherwise, were not exactly his forte.
But this was Rachael as well. It’d become obvious over the course of their meetings, that Wreckage was not necessarily the only person she’d been seeing. Or perhaps more worryingly, Wreckage was not necessarily who he had been. Just like Skystrike, there was a human part to her comrade now, just as alien and unfamiliar and fleshy. Skystrike knew little of Wreckage but neither she nor Skylar knew anything about Rachael at all. And Rachael seemed to more than an nagging tangle of fleshy emotions and memories in the back of the head.
Uneasiness and suspicion settles in her gut and she narrows her eyes, peering at the pale human before her, calmly sitting there. And then, bluntly because Skystrike herself was never good at social subtlety, she asks, “Why do you want to pay?”

Rachael starts to answer, then pauses, eyes turning cloudy in thought. It was a reflex on her part; she gave it no conscious thought, and now she has to think about why she did that. Her brow furrows ever so slightly as she contemplates the reasons behind her actions.
That the impulse came over her so readily is bothersome.
"…Some sort of human custom," she eventually says, unable to hide her disgust with herself. "Host pays for guest. Came to me automatically. I need to stop doing that." She needs to go kill someone, both for money and for the reminder of who and what she really is.

“... I see,” Skylar murmurs, a scowl darkening her face for a moment. It changes into a more contemplative look and she continues after a beat. “It does make it easier to integrate into the human culture without notice, but it is sometimes.... Sometimes it’s too easy.”
“Wreckage,” she starts softly and then pauses again, trying to figure out what to do and say. She does not particularly like the look of disgust on Rachael’s face- it makes a strange knot in her chest tighten that her partner would be so discomfited. And especially considering the circumstances, she can empathize.
But physical comfort in these bodies was a rather alien ordeal. She’s not entirely sure it would be welcome. Or if she herself would be comfortable with it.

"We need a plan," Rachael says, very deliberately tuning out all the irritating little human impulses brought on by Skylar's tone and posture, focusing on the things that make sense. Focusing on the military things, on the Decepticon things.

“Yes,” Skylar says, straightening and squaring her shoulders. Plans she could deal with at least. It was difficult to even begin planning as things were, but it was, perhaps. easier than trying to deal with this at the moment.
“Where shall we begin?”
