Rodney frowns, dipping his head in a nod. "It's not a good situation. You really got shorted on the... whatever did this to us. But if it keeps you from being deported, it probably wasn't a bad idea."
He glances quickly towards Nimbus, than back towards the road. They're almost to where Nimbus lives... well, unless he's moved. "You don't have to defend yourself to me. Like I said, it makes sense."

"I dunno," Nimbus opines, looking somewhat troubled, "Technically, legally, we have to consummate it, according to Shahar, but we... don't really want to, either of us, so if it comes up, I guess we'll just lie."
Nimbus sort of feels like he has to defend himself to Rodney. Rodney is his superior officer, and Nimbus is supposed to be acting like he is responsible.
Nimbus has not moved. He and Shahar already lived in the same apartment.

Rodney snorts. "Well, I don't think they insist on you doing that in front of them or anything, so you should be fine."
He pulls up in front of the apartment building and stops the car, then tilts his head, considering. "You know, no reason we can't carpool. I mean, there might be some days where I can't get you, but I've got your number; I can call you if something comes up."

"Urgh, I tried to look up how it works, but it's just... I don't understand how the human race is still around if that's how they perpetuate themselves," Nimbus complains, sticking out his tongue. How humans do it is just not his cup of energon.
He tries to undo his seatbelt. Does he really want to carpool with his robot boss? The robot boss whom his ex appears to have left him for? It would be convenient, he supposes. Doing convenient things that feel emotionally awkward is a mark of responsibility, right? Nimbus offers sheepishly, "I can give you my bus fare, if you want. I don't have a phone, though."

He frowns as Nimbus mentions not having a phone. "We'll have to fix that - we need to be able to stay in contact with each other." It's not charity, it's practicality. "But yeah, I'll pick you up tomorrow, then." He smiles. "See you then?"

Rodney actually looks a bit embarrassed. "Pleased, 'Rodney's' fine!" And less likely to get a funny look in public! He waves. "See you." And then he checks traffic and starts to pull out.
