"We were uh, a secret, highly-trained task force dedicated to combating terrorist threats wherever they arose. I've been tasked to keep an eye on you until such time as you get your memories back," Muzzle says smoothly, reaching out to down the latest beverage.

Petunia scowls at that. "Is that why you were threatening me with a gun and didn't know who I was?"

"Yes," Muzzle replies with a completely unreadable straight face, nodding. "See, one of our habitual foes is a shapeshifter. You could have been him. I had to be certain."
Smooth. You are really pulling this stuff out of your exhaust port, Nightbeat interjects.
My 'exhaust port' plugs into your neck, and I don't hear you coming up with anything better.

Well, that's... not impossible. Petunia finishes her drink then sets it aside for another. The new drink comes with two little umbrellas, one in the main glass and one in the shot glass that the waiter helpfully depth-charges, and a pineapple wedge.
"How do you know I'm not him?"

In response to Petunia's question, Muzzle whistles the first few notes of the Hawaii Five-0 theme song. Not the first tiny little bit with the drums, but the first six notes the trumpets play. Or whatever those brass instruments are there. Muzzle is not a musician.

Petunia hums the next little bit, picking it up seamlessly. Her fingers drum counterpoint against the table.
"... Oh." She blushes a bit. "Guess I really liked that show, huh?"

"That's how I know you're not him," Muzzle says smugly, downing the latest drink and then eating the pineapple wedge.

Petunia eats her pineapple wedge, too, because it is delicious. "You know me."
The next drink the waiter comes around with appears to be a strawberry-limeade with slices of strawberries mixed with the ice. Muzzle can probably taste the vodka.
Petunia looks at Muzzle over the top of her glass. He's... not unhandsome, she thinks, especially if you preferred older men. He did know her, obviously very well, despite them working in different sections. He- hadn't been looking for her, but it was also the middle of the night. And when he'd found her, he'd offered to take her drinking. She's been watching him put away as many drinks as she has, so it's not as if he's waiting for her to get drunk so he can do something heinous.
And she'd recognized him. Well, his car.
"Were we dating?"

Muzzle looks into the new drink reflectively before taking a cautious sip.
"It . . . was complicated." So, so very complicated.
We ought to just speak as though you're me, Nightbeat sends telepathically.
That's slightly disingenuous, Muzzle responds. It's true, they're one of the most harmonious Headmaster pairings because they're so similar, and Muzzle is in a very literal sense part of Nightbeat, and they share each others' thoughts, but they're not the same person. Not really. Right?
On the one hand, Muzzle doesn't want to move in on Nightbeat's girl. On the other hand, if Nightbeat kisses Pee-Dee, Pee-Dee is actually pressing her lips against Muzzle's armored back.
"We kind of had unresolved sexual tension," Muzzle admits.

Pee-Dee would argue that Muzzle and Nightbeat are not the same person. On the grasping hand, Petunia is not quite Pee-Dee yet.
Petunia tilts her head slightly. She does not know the complications. She suspects Muzzle is not going to tell her, since he seems to prefer being pretty vague so she can remember things on her own. But she is alive, and he is alive...
"We should resolve it."

Muzzle looks extremely cross at the idea. "I'm not the type of guy to take advantage of a girl when she has amnesia." Also, for all they know, letting their body fluids come into contact would send them both into anaphylactic shock.

"What if I want to take advantage of you?" Petunia sounds curious, rather than as if she will be actively testing this out in the immediate future.

Muzzle opens his mouth to speak, then closes it again, then seems about to say something when another round of drinks arrives. These are actually on fire, clear alcohol tinted just slightly orange, bright blue flames flickering on top.
Muzzle blows out the fire on his drink and downs it. The waiter starts to look concerned at how much alcohol the two of them are consuming.

"Ooh." Petunia just holds the drink in her hands, staring into the fire. There's nothing of the pyromaniac's fascination in her gaze. Just a simple delight at their making this.
She smiles at Muzzle, raising the still flaming drink to her face. "If I weren't amnesiac, would you? Would I?"
Then she blows out the flames and takes a drink.

"I suppose. Maybe. I can't speak for you, obviously."
