Later half of month 9, right after a certain phone conversation. Mostly private, but if you think your character can fit in this thread without derailing it, ask before joining.Kate, off-duty cop, sits in the Donut Hole in Bricktown, waiting for someone. She stretches her legs beneath the table and leans back, taking a sip of her coffee.

Stella literally leaps into The Donut Hole, though the door was at least open, so she didn't break anything. She's a woman of Amazonian build with a green Mohawk and an obviously broken nose.
Also her hair seems to be a natural green.
She skids to a stop at the counter, and she orders, "Two dozen. Assorted. But mostly the ones with the sprinkles. Who doesn't like sprinkles?"

The young man working behind the counter looks rather startled at Stella's arrival. He blinks at her, eyes wide and round, before her request sinks through. "Uhm... sure! Right away!" he answers, scurrying over. He fills two boxes with various donuts, but emphasizes the one with sprinkles, because apparently this woman likes sprinkles! He returns to the counter with the boxes and says, "That'll be Nine-fifty-six, ma'am."
Kate looks up from her coffee and snorts with faint amusement. If Stella looks in her direction, she'll give a nod of acknowledgement. 'Yes, this is the old lady you're looking for.'

Stella pays for her box, stuffs a doughnut into her face, and then she throws herself down in a chair at Kate's table.
"Hey oldtimer. Lookin' squishy."
Despite all the frozen, choked emotionality that could be happening here, Stella goes for the cheapshot, because she's Stella.

Kate looks down at herself and shrugs. "Yeah, well, I still repair easy." A handy trait whether human or robotic! Then she looks up. "So what was that mess going on with you and Rodimus at..." she pauses. "Looked like a beach in the background?"
Of course, she's already heard Rodney's version, but now she wants to hear Stella's.

"And I bet you need it," Stella says, smirking. She gobbles up another doughnut. "Oh, uh, he tried to steal my wallet, so I tried to arrest him. I mean, jeez, his fancy boyfriend is loaded. Why's he even need the money?"

Kate nods faintly, taking another sip of her coffee as she remains slouched in her seat, feet stretched out beneath the table and elbows resting on top of it, both of the hands wrapped around her cup. She looks cynically up at Stella and asks, "Y'sure that didn't have something to do with the picture of my sister you were showin' him, lass?"

"I wasn't showing him your sister. I was showing him my aunt," Stella corrects. Duh!
Another doughnut.
"...you have a sister now? Did you always have one? Is she, y'know, like us?" Stella looks left and right.

Kate switches from a two-handed-coffee-hold to just one hand so she can free the other one up for a facepalm. Then she lowers her hand and just looks at Stella.
"As Kup, I didn't have a sister. As Kate, I do, though I can't say I know much about her. We were separated at birth." She takes another sip of her coffee. "Turns out, I was adopted. Only recently was clued into that, which is what set me looking."

It finally occurs to Stella to ask, "What does this have to do with anything? I mean, I'm sure your sister is great, but, uh... I need a place to hide? With guns. A hiding place full of guns where I can hide with guns."

Kate sighs heavily and covers her face again. "Lass, you're denser than uranium sometimes, aren't cha?" She looks up at Stella. "Turns out my sister was your aunt." She pauses a moment, tilting her head. "Which I s'pose makes me your aunt, too."
She considers Stella's request and nods. "We can figure something out, I'm sure. 'Course, the best hiding place we can get you to is probably the Event Horizon itself, but most the guns there are for someone larger than you are right now."

Stella makes a face at Kate and moves her boxes of doughnuts closer to herself. She's not sharing these! In fact, she eats another. It has sprinkles.
"...whoa," Stella's mind is just a bit blown. Suddenly, her genre has shifted from action movie to ridiculous soap opera. She hopes there won't be any baby drama! "Guess that explains why you look so much alike! But why were you given up?"
That might actually be a sore, sensitive topic, but there Stella is, barging in headlong.
Then she gives Kate a blank look. "I don't see the problem."
Stella is perfectly OK with hiding with guns that are bigger than she is.

Kate shrugs. "Not sure. From what I can figure, family was kind of superstitious? Something 'bout avoidin' a curse, or some such." It didn't make much sense to Kate, and she had enough trouble piecing the bits and pieces together as it was.
She nods and finishes the coffee. "Well, then, I guess Event Horizon it is?"

"...oh, yeah, we have a curse," Stella admits, rubbing the back of her head. "We tend to, uh, hook up with awesome action heroes? Have kids. And die." She shrugs and has another doughnut. "Guess I won't have that problem. What's the ETA on fixing all this?"

Kate scowls and shakes her head. "We're persuin' a couple of avenues, but most of 'em involve dealing with Shockwave." She makes a face, as if her coffee suddenly tastes more bitter than it should.
