It's a tentative connection, flirting with actual activation for some five minutes before it went all the way through. And then...
There is silence.

Someone is trying to contact him! Only... not saying anything, so Long Haul can't actually figure out who it is.
It's not like these things have caller ID.
Still, he can make a guess. An Autobot would actually speak up. That means this is not an Autobot.
Long Haul gives Hook's frequency a try. //Hook? Was that you?//

//... Yes.//
Reluctantly spoken and tinged with melancholy. Aren't sad Constructicons fun?

//Why?//
His own voice is pained, and there's a certain impression that he's keeping his transmissions short to keep more of it from coming through.

Hook does not do storm-offs. Really and for true. Except when someone is shoving him out the door to prevent him from keeping a contract from being signed.
It's one of the side-effects of always having to be right.
//Then you just might, perhaps have a small chance of understanding why I might possibly worry that you may not be long among the functional. I admit, it's a small and remote chance, given your limitations, but I live in hope that you may someday overcome them.//

//Omega Supreme ain't been nothing other than gentle with me. Maybe a bit over protective, really. Not like that friend of yours, what threatened me over the radio and all.//
//Omega's my friend, Hook. Used to be your friend, too, before you helped to break his mind.//

//Omega Supreme was my friend before he tried to do a ham-handed reprogramming job on me,// Hook snarls.

//And that gives him the right to tamper with my mind?//
Raw anger slides into something softer and far more vituperrious. //Is the city really worth so much more to him than the living mechs?//

//I'm hearin' your mind was already tampered with, and he was trying to untamper it. You telling me I been lied to? And if so, why did you bring down the city?//
//How many living mechs went down with that city, Hook? How many of our friends and neighbors were shattered with that crystal, huh?//
