Skyfire would have hesitated to fire on his dark counterpart; he had the empathy that counterpart lacked, and could wonder if that could have been him if things had been a bit different.
He didn't hesitate to bank and run when the other launched his missiles; Skyfire knew he couldn't take many hits from his own fairly powerful missiles. The other's first round of proton beams chewed into his freshly-repaired wings and his rocket engines, cutting Skyfire's options rather badly. No hyper-sonic, atmosphere-breaching speeds now.
Not that he would run out on the Autobots in their dire need, in any case. Skyfire jinked and wove, trying to ditch the missiles, but they clung stubbornly to his tail--he was too big a target, and they had a solid lock.
A solid lock... on him. Skyfire would have smirked as evilly as Starscream if he'd been in robot mode.
He banked sharply and swung over with a burst of power from his jets (those were still intact)--and the other's murderous shots flew wide as Skyfire's wing-over sent him screaming towards the other, with the pursuing missiles wallowing around trying to track him.
The other Skyfire rolled to avoid the imminent collision, and Skyfire slid past him and turned, putting the other between him and the pursuing missiles....
...which locked on to the nearest Skyfire, the other Skyfire.

Watching Skyfire skillfully dodge his set of missiles is quite something, but Synapse cannot watch too closely as the scout still has a pair of missiles tailing closely after him. Dizzily, Synapse shifts his direct upwards path into a tight helix pattern. The missiles below spiral stubbornly after. Tighter and tighter Synapse weaves until a great flash emits emits from behind him followed by a thundering boom and shock wave that sends the little spacer tumbling off course. Relieved and quite a bit disoriented, the scout only relaxes slightly after he loops back to make sure that the missiles are no longer on his tail.
In his efforts to dodge the missiles, Synapse's path has taken him frighteningly close to the Skyfires. The explosion itself might have drawn some attention and Synapse does not wish to stick around to find out. If there is one thing the scout knows, it's that he is no good in any sort of aerial dogfight. There are no weapons equipped on Synapse's alt mode. All Synapse is in a dogfight is a little bouncing target.
But Synapse has no plans for running away. Instead he darts upwards towards the other Skyfire, aiming to streak past the shuttle's nose. Synapse may be no good in a dogfight, but he can make a good distraction.

The piercing shriek to his audios brings Synapse's dazed systems to a frenzied reboot. He answers back with his own snarl and makes a concerted effort to push the burning pain from one node to a corner of his mind. He'll deal with that damage as soon as possible, but there are other problems now.
Still hurtling downwards, there's an odd shift in space as the scout calls out his ion blaster. Curling his body so he can shoot past his own feet, Synapse takes quick aim and fires repeatedly at the diving Maximal. If he has to go back for repairs after the battle, Synapse plans on bringing a disabled transorganic curiosity with him.

Airazor twists out of the way of the shots, transforming as she does. And while being in robot mode automatically means falling like a very large rock to Synapse, it doesn't have the same effect on Airazor. She hovers in the air, firing a pair of her larger missiles at the dropping 'Bot.
For a moment, though, her attention shifts. She has to get a visual of Skyblast. It's not a long break, but it would be noticeable.

//OH SLAGGGGG! //
Skyfire-3 had only a fraction of a second to realize what had happened--and command-detonated the missiles.
WH-WHOOM! Two fireballs blossomed almost as one, far too close to the evil white shuttle. He fell out of the sky in a twisting spiral, smoke trailing from his blackened wing and fuselage....
Letting the missiles strike home would have been far worse.

Skyfire continued to turn back in a slow bank as his counterpart plummeted. Hopefully the other wouldn't be attacking him for a while. Synapse--which Synapse? darted past; Synapse also fell from the sky, transforming and drawing a weapon.
Synapse fired on Airrazor--
"You're not one of ours," Skyfire snapped, firing his proton cannon at the Synapse firing on Airrazor.

Synapse tries makes for a good distraction---albeit a now superfluous one as the 'other' Skyfire falls from the skies in a charred mess. The scout slows to a halt and turns to regard the rest of the going-ons below.
Airazor and Skyfire should be more than enough to handle his plummeting counterpart.
Visuals of the Zoo flashing through two-thirds of his vision not so subtly remind Synapse that he has a job to be doing.
With one last hesitant glance back at Airazor, Skyfire and then the eerie mirror image of himself, Synapse heads towards the Zoo as soon as Skyfire fires his proton cannon. The scout is not too keen on watching the destruction of himself, even if this version of himself is on the other side.

More missiles from the bird-bot and bright specks hurtling down at him from the victorious Skyfire's direction alert Synapse to the fact that this predicament isn't going too well - especially not as another Skyfire's smoking hulk spins out of the air.
Synapse fires one more shot with his blaster, this time aiming for the oncoming missiles, before subspacing the firearm and beginning a jerky transform. Airazor's lapse in attention only comes at too convenient a moment. His nodes pop back into their mounts, the charred one taking more than one try to put back into place. With that, the green spacer angles his path downwards.
With Skyfire and Airazor in the air, Synapse is going to try to find some sort of refuge and place to deal with the screaming node on ground level. Down he goes, heading towards the buildings below in a zig-zagging fashion. His zig-zags aren't quick enough, as one of Skyfire's shots hits his alt-mode in the back. Down tumbles the green space the rest of the way to street level, smoke rising angrily from Synapse's form as he slides into robot mode and stumbles between alleyways in search of a hiding spot.

//Skyfire, can you take him for a moment?// Airazor radios the white shuttle, breaking off to give an update over the broadband. It doesn't take her too long, though, but when she looks back the other Synapse is already on the ground and out of reach from her missiles.
//One of should go after him before we lose sight of him. The other needs to stay up to keep an eye on where everyone is.// She's letting Skyfire pick which job he'd rather take.

// I've lost sight of him... however, my alternate is down there, and probably not offline. You stay up here--I'll know which one of us is which. //
Skyfire folded his wings in and dove, heading for the bit of the city the other Synapse had gone down in.

There are many disadvantages to being a minibot. Namely one's disadvantage is being easier to pick on.
There are also quite a few advantages in having such a small size. Finding convenient hiding places is one such perk. Synapse quickly stumbles into one such area, falling back against a wall and sliding down with a grimace as cold concrete scrapes down his side. Fumbling in a haze of aches and pain, Synapse disengages his damaged node from its mount. In a few swift motions, a panel is removed and the systems inside are switched off. The most of the pain goes away, but with it is a third of his vision.
Synapse continues to work on his hasty repairs, confident in his hidden nook. The only problem is, his 'hidden nook' isn't quite so hidden as the smoldering gash on his back leaks out a steady trail of smoke into the air.

Skyfire spreads his wings and flies low and slow over the city, trying to spot some sign of the other Synapse's fall. There's no sign of impact, no shattered buildings in this quadrant, no smoking wreckage--
Wait. Over there... a thin plume of bluish smoke. Normally, he would have disregarded it, but this city was uninhabited except for the Autobots and the invaders. No one ran power plants or heating systems or waste incinerators in this part of the city now.
Skyfire banked, trying to pinpoint the source of the smoke plume being spread on the breeze. His atmospheric spectrometer dutifully reported the chemical composition of the nearby atmosphere and the contaminating plume, but that still didn't pin down the exact source. Skyfire circled the area, analysing the data, stalking his wounded prey....

Stalking? That's something that Synapse is familiar with. Granted, he's more used to being the stalker than that stalked. It seems that ever since arriving in this universe, more than just personalities have been flipped.
Damaged and disabled node snapped back into its mount, Synapse pushes himself into a standing position. His remaining node disengages with a hiss and hovers cautiously into the air. He doesn't let it clear above building level, but with all attention focused on the the remaining two-thirds of his vision, Synapse scans as much of the area as he can. A bit of white above shows that Skyfire is still present.
Escape by air is now ruled out. Ground level sneaking it is. There is no way that Synapse is going to even dream of confronting the huge shuttle.
His node goes one direction and the scout goes another, darting and dipping through alleyways and shadows. Synapse's normal fluid movement giving way to a hunched lope. Unfortunately for him, his wound continues to sputter, but self-repair is starting to do its work and the sparking wires are slowly being sealed off.
Synapse plans on disappearing. A task that is usually quite an easy thing to accomplish.
Meanwhile his node begins a slow climb into the air, twisting this way and that as Synapse tries to keep track of his surroundings and of the going-ons that he missed....he owes quite a few reports. Now if he can stay under the radar...
OOC: Unless Skyfire pinpoints Synapse's location or locks onto his node, this scout is creeping out of thread.

Skyfire methodically narrowed down the possible sources of the smoke plume, but when he closed on the source, there was nothing there. He was too late; the other Synapse had gone deeper into hiding in the cluttered ground of the city.
Not only that, Skyfire was hearing some very disturbing things on the radio. He might be more useful elsewhere--
His sensors noted the spiralling flight of one of Synapse's nodes; Skyfire put a target on it, then held off--which Synapse did it belong to?
// Synapse, I have a node targetted at <coordinates>, heading <course/bearing>. Is it yours, or Someone Else's? //
