With one cube - suitably enhanced, of course - under his proverbial belt, and another in his sights, Perceptor is beginning to feel the edges of that pleasant warmth of a nice charge. It isn't a state he normally allows himself, but it is a significant improvement over earlier in the evening when he'd crossed verbal swords with Mirage. Now, if he could only find someone suitably... ammenable...
Hmmm.... Is that Shockwave over hovering at the edges, observing everyone from the relative shelter of the twilight shadows? And he appears to be all alone. Now that is a true shame.
Perceptor should rectify this situation. And it would only be polite to offer Shockwave libations if Perceptor, himself, is initiating consumption of a new cube. Of course.
"Good evening, Shockwave," Perceptor greets, his tone a bit... warmer than is strictly necessary for pure politeness sake. He offers the Decepticon one of the two cubes he is carrying, taking a brief sip from the other before continuing. "Enjoying the gathering?"

Shockwave has indeed been watching the proceedings about him; someone of rank must be present to ensure that nothing untoward happened- or at least was not initiated by his Decepticons. If any are foolish enough to seek companionship from their supposed allies, Shockwave will not interfere. If they were foolish enough to imbibe of libations so easily tampered with, then they deserve whatever might happen to them. No, it is this fragile truce Shockwave seeks to protect, not his soldier's virtues.
And so he watches, and there is little that escapes his attention. Attention which narrows down to a certain scientist headed his way.
Perceptor's approach prompts no movement in the gun-former. Shockwave leans almost casually against what might have been a building support at one point, arms crossed under his chest. He looks down at Perceptor once addressed, but makes no move to take that offered cube.
"Not so much as you, it seems." He gestures at the cubes, "What have you added to the mix, Perceptor?"

Shockwave's bluntness oddly seems to amuse Perceptor, for the plain words summon forth a quirk to his smile that twists the expression into a playful grin.
"Hmmm," he murmurs, tipping back another sip, but this one from the cube he'd offered Shockwave. "Ordinarily I would encourage the advancement of knowledge, however... I am not in the habit of divulging the specifications of certain of my compounds without significant... compensation." That grin melts into a slow smirk that seems to indicate that negotiations are open.

Shockwave's optic flickers ever so slightly, and he tilts his head to one side as he regards Perceptor. Unexpected, this. But it is opportunity, and to let it slide would be a gross oversight. Though Perceptor may find the outcome to be less than he might wish.
"At least you do not play the innocent and profess that the mix is pure. That you drink it as well is almost more caution than comfort; after all, immunities and tolerances can be built up in those willing to take such risks."
He reaches for that originally offered cube, but rather than take it, Shockwave rests the tips of his fingers on the back of Perceptor's hand. Lightly, very lightly, those fingers trace small circles, creeping down to the wrist joint. "Compensation, you say? And what type of compensation would be required for such information?"

"Ah, and who is to say that I had not already inoculated myself with the appropriate counter-agent as well?" Perceptor agrees slyly. "Knowledge and experience are not often obtained without some level of risk, though."
His optics dim at Shockwave's so careful touch upon the back of his hand, flickering as the light stimulation shifts by fractions to his wrist. Though he gives no outward sign of it, a shiver runs through his systems as a slumbering hunger stirs.
"Not interested in an empirical study?" he asks quietly, a low purr creeping into his tone and he leans a little bit closer. Just a little.

"Such is true," Shockwave agrees, "Though not every reward is worth the risk."
Minuscule though they are, Perceptor's reactions are quite interesting. Perceptor's tactility is apparently another commonality across their respective realities. Of course, that could be influenced by the amount of energon consumed, as well.
Regardless, the situation practically screams for the type of manipulation at which Shockwave excels.
As Perceptor shifts that tiny bit closer, Shockwave lets his fingers glide up Perceptor's arm. "I am not in need of fuel, and even if I were, I am not so foolish as to risk loss of coherency in such company." When he reaches Perceptor's shoulder, Shockwave's hand moves to almost touch the fresh dents in Perceptor's scope. Almost, but not quite, and it would take only a small shift on Perceptor's part to close that distance.
"And I think your Prime would not appreciate any studies which required us to work closely together," Shockwave murmurs, "How is it that you were repaired so quickly and so well in so short a time? You were rather badly damaged during the battle."

"'Such company'?" Perceptor asks, the shifting of his gaze and the wry tone of his voice seem to ask if it is merely the aggregate of those assembled that he places such a designation on, or if it is meant to indicate the more immediate, and intimate, company present.
There is a bare instant of disquiet, of hesitation from the red scientist as Shockwave's digits slide so near Perceptor's most recent damage. Dark thoughts chase themselves through Perceptor's gaze, and, though he shifts, it is not quite enough to put Shockwave's hand upon those creases.
"The Prime," he whispers, attention turned inward. Toward his fetters. The blight. His collar. So much that that simpering idiot has cost him. Almost, almost he warns Shockwave, almost he explains that the Decepticons would do well to see the Prime destroyed utterly before they, too are bound. Almost. But Perceptor will not see that task squandered on Decepticons. That task is for his hands, or perhaps Mirage's, whichever of them manages it first.
"The Prime has other amusements to hold his attention tonight," Perceptor replies smoothly as he surfaces from his thoughts. Perceptor isn't in any mood to care about what Rodimus may "not appreciate" in regards to his conduct. Particularly not when Shockwave's deft touch settles upon his scope as Perceptor finally makes that last little shift.
To the last, he simply replies with a small shrug and a nonchalance which he does not feel, "The Matrix." He will not explain what darkness the artifact is, nor what power it truly grants those upon whom its fell light has fallen. Nor will he give vent to his fury at Duskwing before Shockwave. Why warn the Decepticon that Perceptor intends to see the Seeker burned even more mindless than he already is, whimpering in agony and begging for the release of death before he is trapped, helpless within the shell of his own programming while Perceptor's adjustments take hold? Why dwell on that when a diversion that is just as delicious is trailing his fingers across Perceptor's sensitive plating?

Shockwave, of course, does not know of Duskwing's indiscretion. The jet had only mentioned firing into a menage a trois made up of multiple Bumblebee incarnations. All that Shockwave knows is that Duskwing was punished for his poor judgement, and that the Prime had been satisfied with that punishment.
Tangled webs and all that.
Perceptor shifts just so, seeking more contact, and Shockwave is pleased. There is interest here, perhaps even mutual interest, but as Shockwave once told Hook, such things are frivolous indulgences. The Decepticon commander is much more interested in what information he might glean by manipulating this interest to best advantage.
"The Matrix?" Shockwave asks. His palm flattens against Perceptor's scope as he draws his hand down toward the lens. According to Shockwave's spies on earth, Optimus Prime had managed to use the Matrix to revive several of his offline allies, but it has not ever, to Shockwave's knowledge, been used to truly heal, not as it appears to have been used in this case. "I was not aware it had such ability." Shockwave's thumb traces the rim of the scope's lens casing, "Perhaps you might explain the particulars to me?"

Energon sloshes softly in Perceptor's partially consumed cube as he shivers under that touch gliding across exquisitely sensitive plating. He is very close to simply allowing that second cube to drop to the ground so that he might reciprocate, but that would be a shameless waste of energon, and victorious or not, energon is not so free and available here that Perceptor can afford to be so wasteful.
Besides, if Shockwave is willing to offer such enticement thus far without reciproccation, Perceptor is not one to argue. It is far easier to simply enjoy the warm pleasure sliding through his systems without the distraction of returning the gestures.
"I have not been allowed to make a study of the artifact," he replies in a low, somewhat distracted murmur, optics dimming still more. "It is not an experience that I wish to duplicate."

That Perceptor's hands are both occupied is a fact that Shcokwave has not missed, a fact that has played a large part in the Decepticon's movements. For while Perceptor might accepts such touches without pause, Shockwave would not. Very, very few have been allowed to touch Shockwave with impunity, and those have almost exclusively been repair technicians performing their necessary tasks.
"Hmmm, such a pity that," he says, thumb moving from the edge of the casing to the inside of that slight lip, almost touching the lens, "The Matrix is quite the fascinating artifact; knowing its abilities and limitations would only be prudent, especially in such a situation."
Shockwave stores away that tidbit of information, though. Perceptor was healed by the Matrix, but does not wish to have it happen again. What about the process would cause such pause?
His fingers moves back to Perceptor's shoulder, play along the scope mount, "You have not yet told me what you added to the energon, Perceptor, or it's predicted effects." Shockwave scrapes his fingertip hard down the side of the scope mount, "Have I misjudged what you meant by 'compensation'?"

Perceptor does not often so blithely accept such intimacy and freedom with his person, however between the hungers stirred up by the very healing that Shockwave inquires about, and the effects of his own enhancements to the energon... Perceptor is feeling considerably more generous than normal.
"It is not the Matrix that I am more familiar with," he murmurs in reply, although if he is agreeing with Shockwave, refuting him, or simply making an observation, not even Perceptor is really certain. Distantly, something flickers a soft warning at him. He is being interrogated, and he has let too much of his guard down to the Decepticon.
Shockwave's touch is too deft, though, sending little trills through his tactile arrays, and Perceptor is beyond caring for the moment. He gasps softly at that rougher touch, expression twisting into a wicked little smirk as Shockwave presses for clarification once again.
"Merely an enhancement," he murmurs in reply. "A small one intended primarily to do nothing more than to accelerate euphoria and increase enjoyment." Primarily. Well, all right, partially. But the other effects add to that goal, so "primarily" isn't even unthruthful.
Honest.

Shockwave's optic flickers at that sharp gasp. Enhance enjoyment, the scientist said. And Perceptor has been imbibing of his own brew. It really was too bad that the situation did not allow for Shockwave to indulge himself. Twisting this one to his use would be easier than twisting that other Perceptor, though perhaps not so satisfying
"Primarily, you say? And the doing of such might lower inhibitions, increase sensitivity. A dangerous thing to do en masse; too many here might take advantage, or try, leading to dire consequences on the morrow, when reason returns." Shockwave gives Perceptor's scope one last stroke before withdrawing his hand entirely.
"Why have you sought me out, Perceptor?"

That wicked smirk merely widens into something approximating a failed attempt at an innocent smile as Shockwave voices his theories. "As if your own Mixmaster had not similarly tampered," he retorts, indulging in a long sip from his own cube. "Do not think to lay potential disquiet at my feet, Shockwave. I at least allowed for random chance."
His tone is oddly light, almost teasing. Of course, this Perceptor sees nothing wrong with altering another's functions, and would think light of such tampering. The sigh he hutters, however, as Shockwave disengages, holds the faintest wistful air.
Mirage had struck too close to the core earlier; it isn't often that any will willingly bed Perceptor of their own volition, will even ofer so much as a teasing caress without coersion. Even Skyfire had sought repairs from a Decepticon rather than allow Perceptor access to his functions. Yes, Perceptor has been known to dabble in work that may not have been strictly authorized or necessary, but not under such dire circumstances, and never with those with whom he'd thought he'd had an accord.
So, Perceptor is good enough to fix his pets for him, but not good enough to attend to the owner himself, hm? Perceptor takes another sip and schools his expression to one of warm interest.
"It is not often when I have the opportunity to have intercourse with one whose intellect can pace my own."
Discourse... Intercourse... It's all talking, right? And semantics. Really.

If Shockwave had a face, and thus browridges, one of them would be raised in surprise. Instead, his headfins tilt forward the barest fraction at Perceptor's double entendre, one Shockwave is quite sure was deliberate. To say Shockwave is unused to being the subject of such attention would be an understatement.
"Mixmaster, yourself...who will say which of you is to blame for what effects, or what might happen if your respective additives are inadvertently mixed? I was merely pointing out the possible down sides to your little experiment." Shockwave regards Perceptor for a long moment before continuing, "Except in your own case. You know the results you wish, and perhaps have gotten them before in previous tests."
"But," Shockwave reaches out again, grasping Perceptor's chin and tilting it up, and this time, firelight glints on a fine silver point held between his fingers, "in such a field test, there are always variables that can not be anticipated. Especially when dealing with individuals of varying intellects, attitudes, and builds. It is possible, Perceptor, that a successful result might elude you. At least at this time."
Again Shockwave withdraws, and perhaps the point of his needle just does brush Perceptor's cheek as he does so. That needle is turned idly about in Shockwave's hand as he speaks. There is temptation here. He must tread carefully.
"There are many subjects on which we might converse on equal levels. Of course, some of the subjects that come to my mind might be too delicate or controversial. I would be loathe to give your Prime reason to direct his anger at you. No matter how rewarding such intercourse might be."
What was that about semantics?

"Such is the nature of random chance," Perceptor replies, smirking. Oh, even as pleasantly furry around the edges as he is, he'd caught that barely perceptible flick of Shockwave's headfins. He'd baited the Decepticon, after all. He would have been disappointed to have gernered no reaction at all.
Nor does he miss that faint flash of silver of the needle in Shockwave's hand. Such a simple thing, that needle, and in any other hand, it would be relatively harmless, useless, even. But this is Shockwave, and in his hand, that needle is as dangerous as a sword in Scourge's. There are too many witnesses here, however, and held as it is, to stroke rather than stab and wend between plating into delicate circuits below... Perceptor takes the chance.
Blue optics flicker, dimming at the touch, before flaring brightly as the words settle into coherency in his processor. He eyes Shockwave with narrowed optics.
"Hm. Indeed. There are many who choose not to understand that progress often comes at the expense of one's... somewhat stifling notions," he purrs, pausing to sip at his cube again. "A pity."
That is interest that Perceptor spies in the Decepticon, even if it is not as blatant as that which had been directed - for different reasons, of course - at Perceptor's favorite specimens.
"He does afford me a certain amount of latitude, however, I have found that there are certain projects which even the Prime is truly more content being left unaware of. He does seem to lack the patience for truly enlightening intercourse. A lacking which I have found in many individuals who lack the appropriate... attributes to fully comprehend a proper exchange."
Perceptor smiles, optics dimming once again. "But, perhaps this is not an appropriate venue for such a debate?"
