Springer really wants to shoot Starscream in the face. And Duskwing again, since it didn't do much the first time, apparently.
He was neutral on Mistwind, until the little bugger darts off toward Omega. He flicks the switch on his rifle, setting it on normal fire, steadying it on the small bot, and calling out at him: "Okay, you little scavenger, I advise you to stop in your tracks. You lay one servo on Omega Supeme's parts, and I will open fire." He'd fire warning shots, but he's on thin enough ice as it is - he figures threatening isn't as bad as actually shooting at the little 'bot.
Carefully, Springer turns sideways, so he can look to the police on one side, and Mistwind on the other, keeping the gun pointed at him. Springer then addresses the officers: "I know that it seems to you guys that firing on them is out of line, but you don't know these 'bots. If you lock us up, and they're gonna go to town, loot your shops and citizens, and the only folks who have any history of dealing with them will be put away where they can't be useful in helping you stop them!" He cuts a glare at Duskwing, and motions at the arm-cannon that's pointed at him, looking back to the insectoid. "Besides, what kind of 'harmless merchants' walk around with guns mounted on their arms like that?"

"Kid, get back here!" Duskwing yells at Mistwind, genuine(-sounding) worry in his voice. "Y'dunno what you're messin' with! Dis guy'll shoot you soon as look at you, so don't en-en-- make him look at you!"
// I'm serious, Mist. You was dere last time we met dis slaggin' Wrecker--he's hardcore. Do Not Mess With. // Duskwing transmits low-power on the Decepticon frequency. // Wreckers ain't like other Autobots; dey're more like 'Cons, only dey hate us more than anything. We get him mad enough to start shootin' in front of dem cops, you don't want it to be youse he's shootin' at, see? //
He glares at Springer. "A harmless merchant as gotta pertect himself, that's what! I gotta right to self-defense, 'specially wit' youse guys around!" He waves his arms around, gestulating wildly as he talks.

Long Haul's cry gains no response at all from Mistwind who eagerly inches closer to the wreck poor crashed Omega Supreme. Untill Springer mouths off and takes direct aim, that is.
Freeze, glance, blink, wail; Mistwind does it all as he stares down the not-so-nice end of the gun, "D-don't!" the jetformer stumbles back, fidgeting, "I was only looking! Parts are part of my programming!" He quickly tries to dash behind the closest foot in reach to hide behind. This will be Long Haul (which is mighty fine with Mistwind in hopes that the green Autobot would not fire on his ally), he pleads to whomever willing to listen; "Please don't let him shoot me! I can't work when shot!"
//Autobots aren’t supposed to do that!! h-he’s broken!// Mistwind hisses, //he and all them others and! oh! oh.... yes, order received, Duskwing Sir// slinking back behind the humanoid cop, and from there making his way over to the insectoid; he's retreating back to Duskwing whilst constantly keeping someone between him and Springer. If out of sight works....

Starscream opens his mouth as if to answer the question about weapons, when Duskwing beats him to it. "Like my colleague here so eloquently put it," he intones, "These are dangerous times."
He then flails at the drawing of weapons, "No, please! Why can't you just leave us alone!!"
Starscream is thoroughly impressed with Mistwind's actions, but makes a mental note about how easily he manipulates, so that he might not fall for that again.
//Ignore what he has said, Mistwind.// Starscream says. //Aggravate him to open fire, then we will do the same. We have the numbers to handle it, you will not only get a full repair but an energon ration bonus if they fire on you.//

Long Haul is far from the most socially adept individual one is likely to encounter.
But even he can figure out that holding a weapon on Mistwind is a really bad idea right now.
He covers his face with his hand as Springer does just that, anyway.
Springer's actions get an immediate reaction from the cops as well, who level their own guns on Springer. "Drop it!" clicks and clatters out the insect. "Drop it right now!"
The other one orders, "Both of you, get yer hands up!"
Long Haul complies, optic-band bright, automatically dropping his own welder in the process. He transmits a worried message over the radio, and to the cops themselves, attempts to plead.
"But... but please, sir! We gotta protect our friend! They're here talkin' bout sellin' him for scrap and stuff, you heard 'em! But he ain't theirs! He's a person all his own!" He ignores the little one darting about his feet, but his own tone, the set of his shoulders and hands as he holds them high, speaks on something bordering on genuine panic.

As it all goes even more sour, Springer grimaces to himself. Ah, scrap. I hate this planet...
Springer sighs, slowly lowering his gun to the ground, and raising his hands up afterward. "Look, I'm a soldier, trying to protect my crewmates here from a lot of backstabbing scavengers." Springer cuts a glare at the Decepticon trio, jaw clenched. He then looks back to the officers. "Buying their little sob story is a huge mistake..."
Springer looks over at Long Haul for a moment, then back at the cops. "At least let my buddy here go. He hasn't done anything." Plus, Long Haul knows more about Omega than anyone else down on his rock. Getting him locked up as well would be a lot worse than just Springer.

Duskwing shifts his stance slightly, interposing himself between Mistwind and Springer as Mistwind scuttles back to him. The baleful glare he gives Springer is not that of a peaceful merchant. I'll see you later! it says.
// Like I said, kid, he's a Wrecker. Springer ain't just any Wrecker, he's the boss of the Wreckers. He''s-- //
A blank, shocked look replaces the glare at Starscream's private order over the radio. Long Haul isn't the only one panicking here. Coincidentally it settles in about the time Springer lowers his weapon. Duskwing turns to look at Starscream, worry written all over his face. Clearly, the evil Autobot thugs cunning plan of surrendering to the cops has this poor innocent merchant seriously agitated.
// But, Boss! The kid's got thin armor! He can't take a shot like you and me! And dis is Springer, he's a Wrecker, an' dose fraggers shoot to kill! He ain't like Opti-nice Prime! Look, the cops is already arrestin' him, we don't gotta do nothin'! //

Mistwind peers from behind Duskwing, and quite cautiously too! His look tenses slightly as he receives the radio transmissions, //Order received and ....rejected, Air Commander Starscream Sir// Wait, what?! Mistwind can reject orders?
Of course he can. He just embraces his position often enough not to. //I'm not a fighter; won't do it - .... I mean that! I'm not like you big ones with the guns and plate and strength and power and... and stuff!//

//The moment has passed,// Starscream transmits, //And so the point is now moot.//
Starscream snorts derisively at Long Haul. "He had wandered over, and suddenly you're pinning charges of body part theft to him? I hope you can settle on a story to tell before your court date, Cons... Autobot."
Man that was weird to say to Long Haul.
//But the next time you are given a risky order, Mistwind, ask yourself if refusing to obey is worth it. Springer may choose to harm you, this is true. Whereas if you anger me? I assure you. I have already made up my mind.//

"I ain't talkin' 'bout that guy," Long Haul answers Starscream, nodding towards Mistwind. "I'm talkin' 'bout your other buddy. He asked you if you thought Omega was worth salvaging and said you could make money offa him!"
Not quite true, of course. What Duskwing had said was, "Boss, you reckon that wreck is worth salvaging? Figure there's some good money in it for somebody." But Long Haul captures most of the spirit.
The cops begin patting the Autobots down for weapons, but for whatever reason don't think to check subspace. They seem to be going about the business rather unenthusiastically, however; when it was just a matter of a fine, they could skim something off the top. They're not likely to make anything in an arrest, however, and now that this area is a 'crime scene,' it means they'd have to share the takings on any salvage as well.
The humanoid looks suspiciously at the Decepticons, then at his insect partner. "Y'know, the guy's right. He did say that. And what's that little one say? Parts are part of him, or some such nonesense?"
The insect cocks one antenna, considering this - or more importantly, considering if there's any way they can still manage a profit out of this...
To Springer, he clicks out, "At this point, seems like the other guy's guilty by associatin'. Best to leave the sortin' out to those who're getting paid for it, after all."

Springer's expression stays neutral as he stares back at Duskwing...who appears to be distracted by Starscream for some reason.
Maybe the 'Cons are discussing things over radio as well.
Springer tries not to flinch as the organics pat him down, though he does listen to the ponderings of the pair. Thankfully for Springer, he's been getting advice from his comrades about the situation, and the officers have given him an opening!
"Paid, huh? Well, perhaps we could offer you something? We're pharmaceutical researchers - well, the majority of the crew is. I'm just a bodyguard. Maybe we could offer you a little something, to just let us go here. I got a direct line to our chief researcher, if there's any kind of specific medicines you'd want or need." Springer smiles. "After all, enforcing the law is a tough job, and just a good night's recharge sometimes doesn't quite cut it to get one operating at optimum capacity..."
Mentally, Springer is flailing at himself. Geeze, that sounded so cheesy.

Duskwing winces at Mistwind's reply to Starscream. Slag, you don't say that sort of thing to his face! On Mistwind's private frequency, Duskwing says, // Kid, you an' me gotta talk 'bout pro.. pro... uh, how you talk to bosses, 'cause that ain't it! Guy like Screamer, you don't refuse orders to his face 'less you want big holes in your face. What you do is nod a lot when he gives orders, then get the slag outta his sight before not doin' whatever it was you weren't gonna do nohow, see? //
Distracted, he didn't pay attention to Long Haul's reply... but Duskwing did notice Springer's proposal to the cops. He stared blankly at the Wrecker for a moment, confused. What the--?
Then he turned back to Starscream. "Boss! This slagger is tryin' to bribe the cops!"

He did not get shot for that mistake already? ... that means that someone might call him on for it later. Not a pleasant possibility.

Internally, Starscream chuckles to himself at how poorly Springer seems to be handling this.
Externally, he is shocked to his core.
"Offering an officer of the law, a bribe? And out in the open, where everyone can see them take it, no less!?" Hmm, there seems to be an interesting bit of infliction on that second sentence...
"I am certain that these officers are even more shocked as I am!" He places his hand on the shoulder of whichever cop is currently not searching the two Autobots. "Please, perhaps we should take my statement now, away from all this unpleasantness. I really should apologize for all the commotion our presence has caused. I am Starscream."
Starscream extends a friendly hand to shake. Concealed in it is an energon chip.

The insectoid is the one still patting the Autobots down. He's got four arms, after all.
He cringes and his antenna drop at Starscream's words. This green one's got the right idea, but yeah, he is being too blatant. One of his four arms moves to hit the back of Springer's right shoulder, with enough force to hurt without injuring - were Springer organic. Much less for Springer, should it contact.
"Yeah! How dare you think we'd accept a bribe, out here in the open, with everyone watching. All right, you're definitely leaving in the squad car!"
Interesting how the insect doesn't say anything about actually arriving at any station or jail.
It's the humanoid's shoulder that Starscream places his hand on, and as he turns away, walking a short distance from the others, he murmurs, "Yeah, sure, I'll take your statement, erm, Star-" then he looks down at the thing that's been placed in his hand.
"What the heck is this supposed to be?!" he exclaims, confused, at the energon chip.
Hmmm. Didn't Needlenose say something about a lack of chip conversion rate?
Meanwhile, Long Haul is just standing around with his hands up, looking suspiciously at Duskwing and Mistwind. And more than a little confused.
