Spinister would like to go over this place with a fine-toothed comb and then set everything on fire.
It's not that he's afraid of the dark, but... that stupid shadow is probably still around. They probably haven't seen the end of this.
And Spinister just plain doesn't want to be alone in here with himself.
So he grabs whatever looks important, including the pieces of him, and then he... follows after Kup, at a pace, never letting Kup out of sight but also doing his very best to never let Kup see him.
OOC: Also out of thread

A shadow watches the heroes leave. A shadow who, if material, would have a tawny mane and sharp, sharp teeth, and be grinning oh, so widely.
As soon as Kup is out of sight, and some extra time allowed for Spinster to also be gone, that shadow detaches from the wall and takes on the form of the leonine cop. He places a paw to one ear and murmurs.
"Send in clean-up. Make sure all the loose threads are snipped off."
He pauses and tilts his head, then says, "No. Just the merc."
The cop fades back into the shadows again, as a rifle shot speeds toward Kup's head.

OOC: Changing order with permission.
Spinister is behind Kup. If he has to be anywhere near Kup, being behind him is the safest place around Kup to be, he reasons. it's better than being in front of Kup or under him, to be certain. being above Kup might be all right, but Spinister's in too many pieces to manage that.
He doesn't really think when he leaps out of his cover and throws himself in the way of the rifle shot. He just does it. This is exactly the kind of moron move that led Spinister to try to reason with Thunderwing while the Matrix bearer was having a psychotic break, the kind of dumb decision that got Spinister slammed around by Rodimus Prime's demon alternate.
It's especially stupid, in retrospect, given that Kup doesn't keep anything useful in his head.

Kup keeps useful things in his head! Like sensors and some back up or redundant memory processors! He just doesn't have anything essential up there!
Kup spins, startled, at the source of the shot. By the time he's turned in that direction, his laser musket is already in hand and, in laser mode, he fires up towards the source. This is all done while he's still processing the situation, because in situations like these, you have to act before you're done thinking.
He crouches, glancing around for cover, and it's only when he gets this far that he's fully realized something:
Spinister took a shot for him!
"Why the hell'd you do that?!" he demands.

No second shot is forthcoming.
This is because the leonine cop is now leaning against the a wall not that far from Kup and Spinister, smoking a cigarette. The shot came from above and behind; the cop is on their level and ahead of them. His badge is very visible on his coat.
Police sirens can be heard in the distance.
"Kid, you have got one hell of a death wish. But I can take a hint," he says, to no one in particular.
"You two want to live, you need to get the hell outta Sin before the black and whites get here. I told the kid to back off this case, and having done the job won't keep those who wanted him dead from doing the deed. As evidence by that new hole in him."
He tries to fix Kup with a stare. "And you need to keep you mouth shut and your head down, if you know what's good for you merc," he growls, before literally fading into the shadows of the alley.
OOC: Scenemod is now done, unless you guys linger too long. This place is gonna be swarming with cops in under ten minutes.

Spinister staggers, clutching his shoulder with his good hand, feeling his life ooze out between his fingers, and he mutters, just a touch of delirium to his voice, "Because you wouldn't have, partner."
Spinister enjoys feeling morally superior to Autobots. This is probably equivalent to a death wish. He glares at the old cop, watching him fade.
Then, Spinister moves to limp off, carefully not turning his back to Kup as he does so. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Luckily Spinister should be up to an exfilratration. Lots of cover in a city, even if his cloak is busted. Get out and hope the freaking radio of one of his three pieces will start working again. Yeah.
Ugh, so much for his badge. The Decepticons will have to rely on Barricade for their cop needs now, he supposes.

Kup returns the strange cop's stare with a glare and a faint snarl. He wasn't willing to 'keep [his] mouth shut and [his] head down' when it was that or leave Cybertron, and if he finds a reason not to, he sure as shooting ain't going to do it here.
But, unlike his younger days, he understands that there's being loud to be loud, and there's being loud to accomplish something, and he's gotten better at figuring out the difference between the two.
He glances at Spinister from the corner of his visual field and hnhs. "Damn straight I wouldn't. What? You expecting me to feel guilty about that or something?"
He, like Spinister, turns to move off, only he does so in a different direction. Before he's turned away entirely, he glances back at the sniper. "Now, go get yerself fixed so I can kill you proper."
