"Just think of money as intel," Sentinel Prime suggests, grinning, "Isn't it, kind of? Money's just a big fat IOU backed up by the banks - a promise on a piece of paper. It doesn't have a real value, not like energon!" The Cybertronian economic system is clearly superior. "Just like secret death weapon plans aren't dangerous by themselves."
Sentinel Prime's a master of doubletalk and flimsy justifications, and he is without shame in this regard.
He grows more careful and his expression more cagey when Jazz suggests Rattrap. He echoes Oracle's worries, "Rattrap might be the guy for the job, but we need to make sure he won't nix the job in the first place." Or take all the credit.
"Okay, so we're looking for people or small teams that can do distraction, keep watch, disable the security systems, and extract the payload, and we should probably think about our getaway," Sentinel Prime continues, and then something hits him, and he frowns. "We'll need a ship, and buying or renting a ship is definitely out of our budget. Skyfire's, I don't know, all up with that science stuff, and Omega Supreme doesn't really seem... heist material."
He drums his fingers on the table, continuing to frown, and then he snaps his fingers. "What about the drill tanks? This disgusting planet is full of subways. We just have a drill tank hang out in the alley, near a dumpster, move the dumpster over to the side, drill a tunnel to the nearest subway, move the dumpster back, collapse the tunnel, and we're gone! Don't need to worry about outrunning all those Decepticon jets."

Jazz adjusts in his seat, leaning back and resting one arm on the back of the seat, the opposite hand resting on the table. His fingers drum as he considers what's being said. "Yeah, Spy Shot's not a good idea, even if he was just on watch."
"If he nixes the job, though, we're up the creek. Unless we go to Xaaron... He might approve." Jazz tilts his head side to side, considering. "Either way, I'll see about talking Rattrap up..."
"If we can't get a good escape vehicle or route, if we got someone who has a good amount of subspace storage that can get in and out quick, that's another option - or a lot of us taking parts of it and going all in different directions." Jazz grins. "That way, even if one of us was to get caught, then they only get back a fraction of what they lost."
"The drill tank idea is good, too, provided Impactor or Twin Twist is willing to work with us."

Sentinel has an amusing way to think of money. Secret death weapon plans indeed.
This is also getting potentially very complicated, or at least the number of people they need seems to be rising. So much for keeping things small.
Leaning forward and bracing her elbows on the table Oracle seems to be considering something. "Honestly, we probably should run this by Xaaron in the first place. He might tell us not to as well, but if we screw this whole thing up...I really don't think he'd want to find out about it right then." Surprising your Commanding officer with that sort of news doesn't go over very well. "If we plan on pulling in other Autobots, it's doubly a good idea to check with him."
Then there's the idea of calling in Impactor vs. Twin Twist. She's not sure if the one that's falling apart is a better bet than the one that seems to be about as sharp as a brick wall, so she just shrugs when Jazz comments about one of them working with the group.

These people! Don't they know that the only way to get anything done is to just go out and do it and then come home big slagging heroes, rolling in dough?
Of course, Sentinel, just a cadet then, had the exact same thoughts about Archa Seven, and look how that turned out - Optimus ended up doing spacebridge maintenance in a dead end job, barred from ever applying to Elite Guard, Sentinel got stuck as a drill sergeant in boot camp though he later was allowed to apply to the Elite Guard and join, and Elita-1 got herself turned into a spider and joined the Decepticons. At least Sentinel came out of it okay, in the end, though, even if being stuck as a Minor was a major pain in his tailpipe, and that's the important part.
But then he surprises himself by saying, "Jazz, if any of us get caught, we've failed." He looks over at the other two and adds, "I mean it. I've been talking with Botanica, and... oh, nevermind."
"I'll talk to Impactor. I need to buy him a drink, anyway. Skyfire's my roommate, if that doesn't pan out. Jazz, you're with Omega Supreme," because Sentinel Prime likes charts and pays attention to them, "and Oracle, you were there when Twin Twist showed up."
Great plan, except that Oracle would probably rather stab Twin Twist than talk to him.
Ugh, why are Jazz and Oracle being such squares? Sentinel Prime sighs heavily and leans back in his seat. "...yeah, sure, we can talk to the brass."
Then it's not their plan anymore, and if it goes right, it becomes some mushy team victory. Granted, they don't get blamed as hard if it goes wrong, either, but there's none of the glory that Sentinel Prime so craves.

Jazz is mostly quiet while Sentinel and Oracle talk, adjusting to lean on an elbow, chin resting in his hand. "...looks like we get to talk to Xaaron whether we want to or not. Guess Rattrap passed the idea along. Sounds like he wants us in his office soon as we can get there..."
Jazz frowns a bit. "Really should've done that from the start, especially in a place like this..." He sighs. "Time to go face the music..."

OOC: Finish the round up and I timeskip us to Xaaron's office on next post, maybe?

Oracle would not rather stab Twin Twist than talk to him! There might be some stabbing while talking, but that's entirely different. She still doesn't look enthused, but nods to acknowledge that she will be alright talking to the jumpstarter if Impactor doesn't pan out.
Though Jazz's comment may make the whole thing moot, as being called to the boss' office probably isn't a good sign. She just shrugs, what's he going to do other than tell them it's a horrid idea and knock it off, worst case? "So we go, and see what he wants to tell us. Then we either get support or scrap the idea I would guess." Either is likely, no point in worrying over it before they hear what Xaaron wants.
OOC: Fine with me!

Sentinel Prime starts to say, "Elita's power-copying ability would be useful. If we needed two Jazzes at once, she could copy Mirage's mirage powers and Jazz's own mods, but the thing about her is-" He was going to mention that Elita-1 has a time limit on how long she can copy powers. That's a really important thing. Forgetting about Elita-1's power time limit tends to get her turned into a sociopathic spider-woman. But they haven't even done anything yet, and they're already in trouble. Soon, Sentinel Prime will be able to get in trouble for things he hasn't even thought about yet, thereby violating causality and enabling faster than light transmission of meaningful data, thereby proving the existence of tachyons. He slams his hands against the table and groans, muttering under his exhaust, "I told you so. So what's our story?" - - - OOC: Sure thing!

Jazz stands, and puts forth a half-shrug. "Same thing we told Oracle - Shockwave wants to hire me, we want to use it to our advantage and take the Cons' money."

Some time later at Emirate Xaaron's office.
A white-suited Porsche, a poncho'd snowplow, and a naked Seeker walk into Emirate Xaaron's office.
Unfortunately, it's not a joke.
Jazz has his hands stuffed in his coatpockets, and gives Xaaron his Winning Jazz Grin™. "Yo, boss-bot, a little mouse told me you wanted to see us?"

Emirate Xaaron is sitting at his desk, backlit, hands steepled under his chin. The image is ruined by the fact that Rodimus Prime's music is still playing. What, "The Touch", really? He stretches out and reaches a hand over to turn down the music. Then, Emirate Xaaron greets the... trio.
Funny, Rattrap had only mentioned Oracle and Jazz. Sentinel Prime is unexpected and yet... perhaps Sentinel Prime shouldn't be so very unexpected. Emirate Xaaron does not allow himself to look surprised.
He observes dryly, "Good cycle. I would say that you three wanted to talk to me. You just didn't know it yet."

Stepping into the office and moving out of the way to learn against the wall so the others can enter, Oracle grins and shrugs wryly.
"Quite possibly, but we were still in the tossing ideas around stage." They weren't about to go out and commit theft right then! And they probably would have gotten around to telling Xaaron about the whole thing before it actually went off. Probably.
OOC: Please, skip me as needed. I'll post when I can but don't let me keep holding up the thread.

Sentinel Prime fairly marches into the office, and he gives Emirate Xaaron a proper military salute, standing at attention. He keeps his expression respectful but pleasant, tinged with innocence.
There's nothing wrong with chatting with his fellow Autobots, is there?
Sentinel Prime agrees easily, "Of course we wanted to talk to you, Emirate!"
Yet he was the one urging secrecy.

Jazz starts to put a little boogie in his step when he hears the music, then switches to a dejected look when Xaaron kills the tunes. "Aw, man, I was all ready to get my groove on, Boss."
Jazz half-shrugs at Xaaron's comment. "However you wanna word it, doesn't matter, we're here now. And Oracle's right - we weren't done brainstormin' yet. Just figure that we should do something with such a golden opportunity, y'know?"

Emirate Xaaron suggests, "Sit down. Perhaps this was a bit blown out of proportion, then, if you were just tossing ideas around. What were you thinking, anyway? I'd quite like to hear it."
Autobot troops being proactive? Be still, his beating fuel pump.

Sentinel Prime does sit down, and he immediately agrees, "Oh, that'sexactly what happened, I'm sure, sir," smiling innocently.
Maybe this will be easier than he expected? But no. Every experience he's had with Emirate Xaaron has suggested to Sentinel Prime that he is, just a bit, maybe more like a lot if he's really truthful with himself and he isn't often, in over his head. Sentinel Prime's good; he's slick. This old codger is like synovial fluid - no artificial lubricant can match just how slick that is.
Gnn. Maybe the obsolete buzzard will just keel over and die.

"I have a funny feeling this got sent along the wires as something we were about to go get in trouble with now, didn't it?" And if they had gone right then, all they would have gotten would probably have been trouble.
At the request order? to sit down, Oracle shrugs and find a perch on one of the chairs. She'd rather stand but it's hardly worth quibbling over. "I'll let Jazz explain what we were up to, his getting work started this whole thing anyway." Here Jazz, have the conversational hot potato. She doesn't want it!
