Elita-1 frowns at Dinobot's suggestion. "We may have the numbers, but in my reality- according to the history at least- that isn't always indicative of having the advantage. Decepticons have more offensive Autobots... don't."
Yeah, and Elita has nothing, not even a pistol in subspace. She should probably get one of those.
Her frown is quickly lost in pleased wonder as they wander through the excavated tunnels. This tunnel has less paintings and more carvings, most of bird imagery. It's interesting to note that, while there are many birds carved into the edges of the reliefs, the central figure, the focus, is always an unhatched egg.
She stops before one relief, reaching out to trace the cool, smooth contours of one. This egg is being carried on a litter, the expressions on those doing the carrying ones of fear and reverence.
"Where were they carrying it?" she asks the guide.

As much as Guzzle wants to put some Decepticons into their place, he knows that this isn't the time and place for it. Not when they basically have civies in the group and the Cons being unknowns. Still, he can't help but pat the hip panel where the Judge is stored.
Guzzle sticks closely to the group, keeping an optic out for trouble, but occassionally he allows himself to glance around at the markings. They don't really interest him, but eh, they're kinda pretty.

"Hn, very well. But be ready to defend yourselves," Dinobot says, disappointed.
The Maximal finds himself inspecting the carvings on the walls, almost in spite of himself. He wonders who built this place, what kind of people they were, how they fought. He'd rather investigate the ruins of an ancient barracks than an ancient temple, but he'll take what he can get. He tries not to let his guard down, though, remaining alert for trouble.

Ramulus hesitates at the tunnel entrance for a long while. He watches the group disappear in the dark, listening to their chattering. He would love to go in and check the place. Especially to let his deep scan map the compound. But... Decepticon threat. Confined tunnels. Ugh, Decepticon threat. Like the common database hasn't been clear enough on these guys. Like Earth that chaotic mudball hasn't been a life lesson enough by itself.
//Make a movie for me to see when you guys get back outside, surely at least some of you can log your visual sensors without the guide noticing and throwing you back out. Place reeks too much of a strategic disadvantage to risk all of us inside. Should something happen, you don't know how your radio will react, so check it with me regularly. How much time would you like before I call base should you not check in/resurface?//

Glyph mutters to herself as she peers at the egg. 'Beware', 'darkness', and 'guide' being repeated... The words are somewhat familiar - but it's an older dialect of the area. She's having to compare words on the egg to the current words in her local language pack, and from various other words she's picked up from her research she's done since she's come planetside.
As they look up at the carvings, Glyph considers what was on the egg... That the egg of the great bird must be kept from the 'biting darkness'. The locals warmed the egg with gold, but soon 'outsiders' came. One day, the egg had disappeared - not taken, but hidden. The darkness spreads quickly, and the egg is still lost. Soon, the Devourer will come.
Glyph blinks, then looks at the guide. "If my reasoning is correct, they're keeping the Egg from the darkness?"

Jetstorm is grounded! And confined in tunnels. It makes for a pouty little jetboy.
The carvings do little to stir his interest, and bore him more than anything. He glances over at his brother, popping over to private radio. //What is being up with so much focus on an egg?// He's young! And by the time he was brought into the Autobot military, the Allspark was all a'sploded, so not much reverence for fancy artifacts.

There's something about exploring an underground ruin that makes Jetfire feel like he should be carrying a torch, regardless of the level of lighting provided. Distractedly, he lights a tiny flame in his palm and holds it up like a candle. It's good compensation for being stuck grounded with Decepticons potentially around.
He's looking at the carvings, but they don't mean much to him. What's so special about some lines scratched into a wall? At least the graffiti around the energon refinery back home had been funny!
He shrugs at Jetstorm. //Maybe is being like Allspark for them? Transformers is coming from Allspark, organics is coming from egg?//
Organics come from eggs, right?

Even on little feet, it won't take the Nebulans long to come out behind the Autobot group. It's a large excavation, but not that large, and most of the exposed tunnels/hallways are pretty straightforward.
Cuerva explains to Elita-1, "No one knows where. Very secret, very safe. Those who took the egg to hiding never returned, gave blood to seal the place against dark gods. Big Magic." In other words, sacrificed themselves. Not the normal way a supposedly good god might be expected to be worshiped, but keep in mind this is one people's story, one that has been told and embellished over countless years, and not necessarily indicative of fact or metaplot.
He starts to lead the group further down the hall and into a small room. There are intricately stone benches and tables, some of the designs obviously missing gems or gold. The usable surfaces are worn smooth from use. In one corner are large storage urns, some that seem to still be sealed with wax. The room is probably a feasting hall. There are multiple entries and exits, though one exit on the far side is considerably larger than the others. Likewise there are two that look to be barely navigable, possibly non-priority excavation.
Back with the Decepticons, Diverlo leads them through many twists and turns. There is more repetition of the themes related in both the frescoes and the scupltures, and if asked, Diverlo will relate a similar tale to Cuerva's.
He points down one corridor, one that looks like recent excavation and is not fully shorn up, beams and debris lying all about, quickly spouts off something in the native language. Blackarachnia translates.
"Apparently, back in the day these people were quite wealthy, before their precious egg had to be hidden from outsiders and some coming dark. Most of the visible wealth has been stripped, but many still believe that there are stores of gold and gems hidden somewhere in the temple. So the digging continues, even if the dig's main purpose- to find out where the egg was taken, has been achieved."

The Nebulans follow quietly behind the Autobots, reporting back what they see and hear. They try to stay just out of sight, ducking behind rocks and turns in the tunnel as needed. Meanwhile, Needlenose listens to his own tour guide. He tilts his head in confusion at the last words. "Wait! It's been achieved? But the other g- I mean... so they figured out what was done with it, huh?"
//The other tour guide just told the Autobots that nobody knows where they took the egg,// he tells Blackarchnia over the radio. //Otherwise, though, nothing much worth reporting.//

Elita-1 shivers, getting the proverbial goose-walked-across-ones-grave feeling for no visible reason at all. She hugs herself as if cold, hands gripping opposite shoulders as she follows the guide into the room. She stops a short ways in to take in the space.
"Wow. This is really beautiful- or was I guess, back in the day."
"So what is the big deal about the egg? I'm guessing it's something very important, but um... it just looks like a big egg."
Yeah, Elita may find some organic cultures and items fascinating, but reverence when speaking of them? Not so much.
//Oh Ramulus, it's just a silly little archeological tour. We don't know that there's any Decepticons even down here. Pz-Zazz has robots everywhere. But suit yourself.//

Guzzle can't help but snicker a little at Ramulus' expense, but at least he can resist the urge to fling a scaredy goat insult his way. Doesn't do to occupy the comm channels with needless chatter when they could be at risk, after all.
Guzzle keeps an eye on their surroundings, not that terribly interested in the story, though he does blink a little at Elita's comment. Wasn't she interested in this sorta stuff?

Well at least someone around here is properly paranoid vigilant! //I'm setting my internal computer to ping your comm every [5 minutes], Ramulus. If I miss a check-in, we've either gone deep enough into the tunnels that radio won't penetrate, or we've engaged the Decepticons.// So either nothing is wrong, or they're fighting a Mayhem. Not the world's best plan, but it's something.

"For the love of- why do I do this?" Ramulus wonders out loud. He calmly explains:
//Miss Elita? You are not in a civilian peace-world any more where Decepticons are nothing but a bedtime story, please don't forget about that. Dinobot, I will look out for your pings. ..... Also, as a geologist, I am serious about that recording.//
With that, the ram trots off to find himself a good spot close by, but not overly in sight.
-This means he's going skippable and becomes a sentry -

Glyph clances over at Elita-1. "It's possibly tied to ...Unicron, if I'm reading this right. That's the only 'Great Devourer' I know of. And...hm." She peers at the souvenir egg some more. "Something about needing a proper guide to hatch the egg... Not sure what the result will be, though."
Once they get to the bigger room, she looks around with a bit of a frown. "Looted..."

The blue 'bot hangs back a bit, exploring some. Rouging around is more interesting than this stuffy old history stuff.
