There comes a time when one needs to grow up a little more. For a Transformer, that usually means Upgrades! It's been a good chunk of time that Firebolt has thought about upgrades, especially after seeing everybody else with the fancy things they can do. She pushes her fingers together and stares up at the door of Perceptor's lab, having thought he would be the best to ask about this sort of thing.
Her ponytails dip low as she reaches up and knocks at the door.
"H-hello Mr. Perceptor, sir, are ya home?" She calls out in between knocks and then hops backwards to wait as patiently as she can (which does include rocking back and forth on her heels as she waits).

There is an indistinct rustling sound from within, followed by and equally muffled, "Yes, yes... The door is not secured," called through the closed door.
If Firebolt enters, she will find her target deeply engrossed by a collection of circuit boards and computer parts carefully arranged across one neat table, with diagrams of those same pieces sketched on a monitor directly above them. Beside the diagrams, there are rather intensive and detailed calculations srawled in tiny, exacting script. It looks, for those who might have the background to understand any of it, like physics. Theoretical physics of the most theoretical and complex.

The Ferrari-former claps her hands together and then gently pushes open the door. She peers in, looking very interested in everything that's everywhere. She nearly tiptoes in, very careful not to touch anything as she approaches the scientist sitting at the table.
"Heya sir!" She says cheerily, waving a bit. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I wanted t'ask ya if you could maybe help me with something?" She tilts her head to the side just a bit, "I wanted to better my abilities and was looking into making these satellite dishes of mine more useful," she points at her ponytails. "That should be possible, I hope... I really wanna be more useful 'round here. Cos I sure don't feel it..." she sighs somewhat but tries to at least look happy.

Perceptor is listening, honest. He just has to take a few moments to extricate his hands from the bundles of wires and components in those circuit boards he's got himself buried in. When he finally does, he turns to greet Firebolt with a friendly smile.
"Ah, greetings, Firebolt. No, not interrupting at all." No more than anyone else who stopped by would be, anyway. Percewptor is always working on some doodad or another, even when he is not "on duty".
It's good to love one's work so much.
"Make your satellite dishes 'better', you say?" he muses, leaning in to peer at the aforementioned appendages. "I believe that should be quite possible. At the very least, it should be possible to increase the sensitivity and gain, thusly increasing your range, if that is what you wish?"

Her ponytails fan out into their satellite forms and she nods, bowing her head somewhat afterwards. "If I do so, I should be able to even be a bit of a better fighter, using sonar to help locate my enemies, no?" She peeks up somewhat, hoping that after all that thinking, that could hopefully be right. She's a smart 'Bot, it just take some work to put those smarts to use for something that isn't cultural-centered.
She shuffles her feet a bit, "And I don't wanna be a that dorky female anymore either. I wanna grow up and be smarter and... Argh! I thought you, being so well, mature and looked up to, could help me with that too."

Oh, if anyone else were there, the irony would be making them laugh for certain. Firebolt is asking Perceptor of all mechs for advice on how to not be as dorky?
"Hmmm... Sonar, yes," Perceptor muses, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "Excellent thought. I think that would be quite feasible. The first step is to have a look at your current specifications, then," he replies, moving over to a table that doubles as a repair berth and patting it with one hand. He cocks his head, though, and offers her a slightly chagrined look as he waits.
"I, ah... Well, I am not certain what assistance I may offer on your second request, however, I will make the attempt?" Yeah, even Perceptor can see the irony there. He also isn't all too sure on that whole "looked up to" part. He's never even considered the concept, actually.

She eagerly hops up onto the berth and then waits, while looking down at her feet, while pointing the toes together. "Well, I look up to you, at least," she says, glancing up at him and then back down. "Which is why I came to you, really. Where's the point in going to someone ya don't respect?"
She waves her hand a little and then ducks her head down, leaning her elbows on her knees and putting her chin in her hands, letting him easier inspect her satellite dishes. "'Ere ya go," she says.

Perceptor pauses mid-reach for one of his tools, tilting his head in a look of surprised curiosity for a long moment, before it melts into one of almost bashful nervousness. He hardly really known Firebolt, and here she is proclaiming that she looks up to him? He... really does not know what to say to that, honestly. Except, "Ah, thank you. Ahem."
Unsure as he is about Firebolt's choice of him as role-model, his hands are certainly sure as he carefully opens up tiny access panels at the base of each dish, poking about gently and examining them both. "Yes, I do believe that I can do something with this," he muses absently, as if he is more speaking to himself than to Firebolt. "Do you mind if I remove them?"

"You're welcome!" she beams, accepting that the best she can.
She gasps somewhat as he asks to remove them. She eyes him, "But then I'll be BALD." But she does lower her head so he can do so.

"Not for long, I assure you," he replies. "But it will be more comfortable for you if I remove them to make the necessary adjustments. Not to mention quieter."
It does not even occur to him to question the fact that Firebolt has apparently decided to equate her satellite dishes as analgous to hair. He talks to circuits; who is he to quibble about someone else's foibles?
In deference to her concern, however, he only removes one to work on it first, knowing that he can easily duplicate his work on the other one once the first is back in place.
"What is your specialty, Firebolt?" he asks as he bends down to begin tinkering in the first component, absently reaching over to his tools now and again to switch them out for different ones, or to fetch a bundle of wires or chips from the small bin of them beside his tools.

Firebolt whines and puts her hands on the side of her head as her first satellite is removed. She feels naked without them!
"Well... Specialty. ... Hmmm..." she ponders, tapping one finger against her mouthplate. "I can dance. Oh and I like video games. And, erm... Maybe I could be considered a sorta-good scout. I know a lot about the Earth that I came from, and it's culture," she explains somewhat lack lusterly. It's not exactly a record to be proud of compared to some of the 'Bots around.
"So you can guess why I'm really, really excited to get a little bit up an upgrade, yanno!" she nods.

Perceptor nods, tilting an encouraging smile back towards Firebolt as he works. "My comrade Jazz, from my own reality had a significant fascination with Earth culture, as well," he observes. "The entire world fascinates me. The life forms, the humans, their culture - although I admit that I doubt that I have quite your exposure to it, nor expertise."
Cycle the power back through the new interface circuits, past the jump buss, add in another relay switch arranged in series...

Firebolt flinches just slightly and straightens up at that. "Well, I mean, you're so smart I'm sure you could learn about them if you wanted to!" she says, turning and watching him work, her one remaining ponytail flicking lightly against her head as she does so.
"That's really cool..." She says while watching.

"Heh, thank you," he replies self-consciously.
Ordinarily, it would not bother him, having someone watch his work and offer the occassional compliment. Firebolt's previous statement about looking up to him, however, has Perceptor carefully watching his behavior. He is being silly, really, but he suddenly does not wish to disappoint Firebolt.
"Perhaps when there is more time, I shall look into it," he offers non-committally as he solders in the new components.

"I can teach ya some stuff. Ya could learn to dance if ya wanted to," she muses out loud, but keeps her optics trained on his work.
She asks a few sort of boring-eque questions on 'how does that piece work?' or 'does that connect to there?' to try and learn somewhat what's going on. The smarts are starting to slowly click to stuff that doesn't equal video games, but she doesn't notice that they are. She continues swinging her legs back and forth and starts quietly playing music, before realizing what's she's doing and then puts a finger to her mouth plate and quietly starts to play science-related songs.
Starting with "Bill Nye the Science Guy" as the wonderful opening, and continuing on with things such as "Weird Science" and "She Blinded me with Science."
Part of her wants to see if he'll notice.
