Private thread, events take place after day 30.
Starscream rests in his commanders quarters. He is happy. His ever-swelling empire that continues to grow, the much they all have accomplished on the planet Gillnan III, this magnificent vessel that was so expertly-crafted that will transport them to Cybertron, and even greater strengths. What's not to be happy about?
Ah, and the high-grade energon Starscream ordered has arrived. That's a good thing, too. Starscream pours himself a small glass, puts his feet up, and enjoys his drink.

Before Starscream can get too far into his drink there is a knock at his door (or a knock on the doorframe, if the door is open).
Hook would be so glad to know that his dabbling in paints actually made an impact on a certain purple scientist.
"If you have the time," Shockwave says once he has the Seeker's attention, "We have items of some import to discuss."

Starscream sneers at the knock, but still presses a button on a nearby console, allowing access to the room. After another gulp of his drink, making the most of his limited solitude before Shockwave ruins it all for him.
"Enter." Starscream says, irritated that his relaxation has been ruined. "Your timing is impeccable as always, Shockwave. What is it this time?"

Shockwave takes in the energon on the table and the drink in Starscream's hand, in one disinterested glance. Impeccable timing indeed, if things have proceeded as they ought. Shockwave would not wish to miss one moment.
He sits down across from Starscream without waiting for invitation. "My apologies for interrupting your drink. However, I belive it is time we discussed the restructuring of our troops. There have been many new arrivals since we first broke them into ranks, and I feel that many are not being properly utilized in that rough structure."
"And you know how much I dislike waste and inefficency."
He props elbow on the chair arm, and his optic casing on the back of his hand. Another drink, the end of the glass, perhaps, should be sufficent.

And what did you have in mind, Shockwave?" On one hand this tactic enables Starscream to do a minimum of thinking for this conversation; on the other hand this means he has to listen to Shockwave. Oh well.
Starscream finishes off his drink too quickly, and begins pouring himself another glass. Mixmaster has really outdone himself this time, he thinks!

Shockwave produces a datapad from subspace, upon which he calls up the current listing of troops. Beneath that are the most recent arrivals, who have yet to be properly assigned.
He sets the datapad on the table.
"For one, I have always felt Scourge was underutilized as head of intelligence. What was your reasoning for placing him as such?"

Starscream shifts his weight uncomfortably, not really sure why. Perhaps he has been staring at this unsightly cyclops so long that his stomach is churning from it. Nothing a little energon won't help though, no doubt, so he takes another gulp.
"Do you. Really. Scourge is a capable leader, but placing him at a higher rank than Sky-Byte would have been more problematic than good. He was the better suit for intelligence than Sky-Byte." He places his glass down and looks at his second in command. "But tell me, Shockwave, exactly how you would improve things now, and get to the point."

"Problematic? Oh, I imagine the shark would have gotten his fins in a tangle about it. But such things can be easily dealt with through other channels." Shockwave waves his hand negligently. "Though I will agree Scourge is better suited to such operations. He, at least, understands the concept of subtley."
He continues to impassively watch Starscream, noting with inward pleasure that odd shifting about. "However, that is a minor concern, really."
"I think the time has come to have that inevitable discussion that must always be had between a Decepticon commander and his second," he says, voice deadly soft.

Starscream knows this conversation all too well.
"Finally got the support strut to take me on, hmm?" He says, snapping upright. "Fine, Shockwave. let's have that 'conversation'." Starscream wastes no time, and draws up both arms to null-ray his opponent...
...when suddenly his systems override. Warning signal under warning signal go off, causing intense pain. Everywhere. "GHAAAAH!" He cries out as he collapses.
Shockwave has shown up in time for this. Starscream's pain-addled mind can barely process anything, but even there he realizes this is no coincidence. "WHAT did you DO TO MEEEEE!?"

Shockwave continues to sit, head propped on his hand as Starscream first threatens him, then drops, screaming in such delicious agony. In moments, screaming should be all the Seeker can do, as his body's systems lock in paralysis.
"It has nothing to do with courage, Starscream," he begins conversationally, "and everything to do with timing. And order. For you see, I have actually come to respect your abilities quite a lot over the past months. You are not, despite what some may think, a poor leader. You are charismatic, skilled, intelligent, and possessed of a rather difficult weapon to circumvent."
"You are, however, not consistent, and too often ruled by your own ambition and hubris."
"And that you see," Shockwave finishes, pulling two vials out of subspace and setting them on the table well out of Starscream's reach (one can never be too cautious), "is a problem."
"I have poisoned you. In hopes that we might have discourse on this subject without your resorting to your weapons without hearing me out."
And by discourse, Shockwave means agree that he is now in charge.

Starscream totally has a bunch of comebacks for this, and he would totally use them if it weren't for ow ow ow hurting everywhere.
At Shockwave's calm statement that he has poisoned Starscream, he howls all the louder in anguish.
In a desperate attempt, he crawls to the table in an attempt at obtaining the two vials. Which, really, is something he does when he doesn't even know what's in them.

Shockwave reaches over and reclaims the two vials. His optic light narrows as he watches Starscream.
"You continue to impress, Starscream. The analog used to develop this had already succumbed to paralysis by this point. The systems are the same, so it must be your dogged determination keeping you moving. Good show."
He holds up the two vials. "This," he begins, "is the counteragent for the poison. Now, I must stress that it is not an antidote, and its affects will last only for a short time. A day, perhaps, if you do not overtax your systems. The antidote is an entirely different compound, which I do not, at the moment, have on my person."
Shockwave leans forward a bit then, the vials clasped loosely between his hand and canon tip. "I should point out, I suppose, that the counter will merely dull the pain, and return base motor function. It will not remove the pain, or restore, say, your weapons control."
"You have options, Starscream, beyond my killing you here in cold fuel. Might I enumerate them? If you prefer discourse over death, then give me a nice strong cry, if you are capable of nothing else. I will give just enough of the counter to allow you to think of something other than your pain."
Outward impassiveness aside, Shockwave is enjoying this. Immensely.

"NGGGGHFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!" Starscream yells the word 'fine' as if it were yelled fiercely enough then Shockwave would drop dead on the spot.

"Excellent. I knew you were capable of seeing reason- with proper motivation."
With that, Shockwave snags an empty glass and mixes a (very) small amount of each of the liquids together in it. The vials themselves are quickly subspaced for safe keeping.
He leans down and attempts to administer the drink. Once done- to whatever degree of success it may be- he settles back in his chair. No harm in waiting for Starscream to feel marginally better. And perhaps to try somethig foolish.
Speaking of, Shockwave's cannon arm is pointed almost negligently toward the Seeker.

Starscream pathetically lets Shockwave feed him, eager to swallow what he hopes is the cure.
Fortunately, it is. After a few moments he forces himself upright. It is another few moments before he can stop involuntarily wincing. "Let's get this over with."
