Slingshot is on "guard the meteorites" duty. What this means is he's standing in the room with them and playing Solitaire across the inside of his visor.
Losing, too, but this is Solitaire.

Swerve, unlike the other guy on watch, doesn't have any entertainment programs on him. It's just him, Slingshot, the rocks, and boredom so thick he could cut it with a hammer.
He isn't the type to sit and drum his fingers when he has nothing to do, either. Ordinarily, he'd go drive it off. He'd be tempted to do just that since he can't make sense of having two mechs on watch, but there aren't any roads in the ship. Just corridor after corridor. So he's pacing instead. Up the stairs, around the elevated walk, down again, repeat. If he doesn't go stir-crazy inside of a month, it may well be a miracle.
Finally, he can't take nothing but the sound of his own footsteps any more and he stops in his tracks to glare at Slingshot.
"How d'you just… sit there?" And not want to shoot things?

"I'm not sitting," Slingshot points out, sharp amusement in his voice.

A metallic clatter among the rocks are the first sign that the two good natured Autobots are no longer alone. For now, piled atop the metal, Cybertronian meteor-rocks is a familiar figure. Kup, in his tones of grayish green, lays sprawled there, in plain view of them both. He appears to have been beaten rather soundly. His left leg is shattered, his right arm is... missing. His face is dented, with one lens cracked, and both optics giving only the dimmist blue glow. His chest... his chest, that area that houses his laser core, is crushed inward in a manner it most decidedly should not be, the armor around that cracked and broken. A trickle of energon leaks from the corner of his mouth, and the other cracks and tears also leak fluids, energon around the chest, lubricants elsewhere else.
Clutched in his one good hand is his rifle, but it, too, is a mangled, twisted mockery of what it had been.
He slowly, painfully lifts his head from the rocks. There is a grim, determined - even defiant look to his expression, but his dim optics are clouded, as though he's seeing someplace else entirely.

That hissing sound isn't Swerve bursting a leak. He's just trying not to scream in frustration.
"That ain't what I meant," he grinds out, hands clenched so tightly around the railing his knuckles pop. "You slaggin' know that–" But Slingshot is spared the rest of the incoherency when Swerve spins reflexively at that racket down below. He whirls so hard that he slams into the opposite rail, sending tremors up both arms. The mild pain goes ignored when he sees what – who – caused the noise; he stares, optics wide, mouth hanging open. This… can't be right!

"Ask nicely," he starts to say, then there's a clatter among the rocks. Slingshot kills the Solitaire and trots over to investigate.
"What do you se-" He cuts off as he lays visor on the broken, mangled Kup. "Slag! Medic, medic- You know any repair-stuff? Slaggit, we need to get him down..."
//First Aid!// Slingshot calls out over the broadband. //Got a patient for you in the rocks!// A pause. //Hurry! He looks mostly dead!//
This is really a lot more cool-headed than Slingshot expected he'd be. He privately congratulates himself on being awesome.

Recognition lights in Kup's dimming optics as his gaze alight on Slingshot, and he points his acid musket at the Aerialbot, his expression of grim determination mixing with... is that fear? "Stay back, Slingshot!" he demands, though his voice carries an electronic buzz that indicates he's pushing his processor to work it. "Not a step closer..." His voice fades and falls silent even as the light snuffs from his eyes completely. His head falls. The hand holding his rifle drops and opens limply, leaving the gun to clatter to the floor like so much dead weight. Like him, as his very laser core finally extinguishes itself. And Kup moves no more. OOC: Out of post rotation due to the death.

"For the love of– Yeah, I know 'repair stuff'!" Swerve fires back. Kup looks five steps short of dead; Swerve may not be able to do much, but by Primus, he'll try. He launches himself over the railing and lands on light feet, toolkit already in hand. He misses that look Kup gives Slingshot – not the warning, and why a warning? – but by the time he's moving, Kup's already on the way down. Frag it, frag it…! Swerve drops to one knee and skids in the last couple of feet, foot forward to steady and brake him. He doesn't even dwell on the damages before he starts checking Kup over. He's seen worse on the oil-sport circuits. Not sure how often, but he's seen it.
Why it bothers him, he isn't sure and he doesn't dwell on that, either.
"Smelt it all," he growls. Everything important seems to be leaking and either his optics are fooling him or the oldtimer's looking a little more grey than usual.

Slingshot freezes when Kup points that strange expression at him. The acid musket helps, but no one has ever looked at him like that. Why would Kup look at him like that?
(Why is Kup afraid of him?)
Then Kup warns him to stay back and Swerve leaps down to be useful. Except he's too late, and Kup clatters into greys.
Slingshot has never seen anyone turn grey before.
He's seen people greyed by death, sure. But this is... Not the same.
(Why was Kup afraid of him?)

For a second or two, Swerve just stares at the battered body under his hands, expression strangely blank. Then, degree by degree, his scowl returns and he gives the body a violent shove as he heaves himself to his feet.
Fragger. "At least now that outmoded old jalopy has some parts that oughtta fit," he mutters, remembering how antiquated were the internals he saw when he cleaned out Kup's shoulder.

Slingshot doesn't like most people. In fact, he thinks most of them aren't anywhere near as good as his brothers, and he hates being stuck here by himself.
He does like Kup.
Kup, who just died in front of him, something weird
(fear)
in his optics.
Kup, who this jackass just disrespected.
"You," he says in that dangerous tone of voice he's only used once before in his life, "Are going down."
Then he throws a punch at Swerve.

Swerve is long used to fights that come out of nowhere. He gives Slingshot a suspicious look when the jet issues his threat, then brings up one arm to deflect the incoming punch with his pipes.
"What the scrap's wrong with you?" demands the racer.

"What's yours?" Slingshot snaps back as his fist solidly hits Swerve's pipes. He steps in, aiming a swing towards the racer's midsection.
"I'm going to imprint your schematics on your factory foremech!"

Slingshot isn't making any sense and that just annoys Swerve even more than the unexpected assault, but what really gets his oil simmering is that the stupid punk is trying to start a fight practically on top of Kup's body. The oldtimer isn't even gone five minutes.
"You – you underclocked, fume-suckin' little cloud jockey!" Swerve all but spits, outraged, even as he drops back to evade that hit making a beeline for his middle. He keeps moving backward. Not because he wants to; he really wants to pound Slingshot's head into the floor. But he refuses to throw down with anyone while Kup's lying there dead and underfoot.

Kup is not a medic. Kup knew that Slingshot had called for a medic, but he also knew that Swerve was already in here.
Kup is curious. After that first shout for a medic, he didn't hear anything else from this room, and he's not one to believe that no news is good news.
So he steps in to hear... the two yelling at each other? And from their stances, someone just threw a punch!
"Hey!" he shouts angrily. "What the blazes are you two..." then something on the floor catches his eye and he looks down.
"... Oh," he finishes softly, staring at his own dead body.
Gray, he thinks to himself. I'm... I'm gray!
Kup briefly wishes he had a 'god' like some of these realities do, because he really wants there to be a higher power he can swear out.
