Rodimus raises a brow-ridge and smirks at Optimus. "I said I'd played it a couple of times. I never claimed to be an expert."
And now after Rodimus has spent his time demonstrating his knowledge, he plays it down instead. Or maybe he's just trying to be a Sonic-shark. Who knows?
Even as he speaks, however, Rodimus lazily reaches his arm towards Optimus, palm open, as though he expects to be given something.
Probably the controller.

Quoting Bumblebee, he replies, "The least likely can be the most dangerous. If those enemies hadn't slowed you down earlier, II am certain you would have won. Good game!"
Emirate Xaaron is sure Optimus Prime can find some different boneheaded way to die. That is what Optimus Primes do, if you don't watch them carefully. Optimus Prime won't get off the hook this easily!
Besides, perhaps they could be friends. Emirate Xaaron really can't afford to have friends now, given his position. People close to him tend to end up dead. It's not fair to them. But having people around him who could have been his friends if the situation was different is not bad.
He returns the handshake, his grasp firm but not crushing.
Emirate Xaaron inquires of Rodimus Prime, "Is there perhaps something else you'd like to play? A newer game?"
It did sound like Rodimus Prime was more interested in the newer games, after all.

Player 1, defeated!
"Trust me, knowing the character's names makes you the resident expert here." Optimus surrenders the controller and the seat he had to Rodimus, unaware of the concerns Xaaron has. He had fun, and he'd like to do it again. However it's not Rodimus' turn. "Is there anything there you've never played, Rodimus?" Mostly to help get an even playing field, but also out of curiosity.
Optimus finds a comfortable chair to sit on whilst still getting a good view of the screen. "Anyway... what did you mean before when you said 'substance influenced'?"

Rodimus glances over at Optimus, then peers over at the list of games. "Actually, Emirate, Optimus has a point. If we want to be on even footing, we should go with something I've never played."
Then he smirks back at them both. "Of course, that means trusting me when I say I've never played it."
He peers again, and points at one of the games, one that appears to be dragon themed. "You know, I've heard of Spyro, but for some reason I've never played it."
"Oh, 'substance influenced.' I'm saying I think they might have been on drugs, Optimus," Rodimus explains flatly.

Emirate Xaaron stands, walks over, and takes the Spyro box in his hands, looking it over, and then he flips through the anachronistically robot-sized manual and reports, "I cannot find a multi-player or versus mode in this one." He holds it up, waves the game, and then holds it over to Rodimus Prime to check and confirm.
Emirate Xaaron glances along the other games, pulling out a few to check them over, and asks, "Have you played this 'Advance Wars'?"
Also, of Optimus Prime, "Does your reality not have drug problems, like syk?"

"Oh, drugs. Apparently... you're supposed to say no to them?" No drugs in Optimus' Cybertron, he's got a G rating to uphold!
Optimus peers over Xaaron's shoulder as he goes through the titles. When quizzed about drug problems, he says, "Never heard of the stuff, Xaaron. What does that do?"

Rodimus's reality was written for children, too!
Supposedly.
Rodimus shrugs as Emirate Xaaron mentions not being able to find a multi-player mode. He chuckles. "Well, told you I hadn't played that one." Then he considers. "And no, never played 'Advanced Wars,' either. Shall we go with that one?

Emirate Xaaron squints at Optimus Prime sidelong. Is this kid for real? Some kind of Robot Scout? He notes wryly, "Given your reaction, I'm not entirely sure that I should explain, but informed is armed. Syk is an illegal circuit booster. You'll think and react faster, but it tends to damage the circuits if abused. Unfortunately addictive, as the damage is cumulative, and you end up needing another dose just to get back to normal, after enough damage."
Okay, so, the leader of the Autobots, his second in command, and a fresh young officer are playing video games and talking about drugs.
There is probably a public service message in here somewhere.
He reads, "'Advance Wars is a turn-based tactics video game,'" and then he grins at Rodimus Prime, slotting the video game into the appropriate slot in the Autobots' play-anything console of doom.

"...Ah. So, a mod with some very negative drawbacks." Were Optimus pulled from a later time, he would have been informed by Ratchet about people who can show an unhealthy addiction to mods.
But now Optimus knows about syk. And knowing is half the battle. Cue PSA logo.
"Huh, tactics." He's studied some of the basics in the Academy, even did well at it. But this is two Autobot leaders, in their own time and place, out-strategizing each other. This ought to be a better spectator match than 'hey I've found out how to jump'.

Aaaah, but one thing Optimus isn't taking into account: Rodimus is still playing a game he's never played before, using rules he's never operated under, with a number of units that have strengths and weaknesses that he's not aware of, and he's trying to do the whole thing without actually looking up the instructions.
Rodimus picks a leader more or less at random, because he likes the look of the little cartoon face the best, then after a few minutes of fumbling figures out how to get his little factories to make Infantry units and Mech units. Exciting.

Emirate Xaaron seems to be having even more trouble than Rodimus Prime, as he isn't even able to figure out how to make any units or make them do anything.
He needs to click more things.
So, he does what all gamers do: he complains about the graphics. "This doesn't seem like a realistic tactical simulation."
Sonic the Hedgehog was totally realistic. Yes.

"How do you know?" Optimus says with a smirk to Xaaron. "You've never been to earth."
"Seriously, though. I don't think this is meant to be realistic combat scenarios. Earthlings play these games for leisure. Recreation. There are rules, but they aren't necessarily rules of real-world war. But there's still elements of strategy. It's just strategy with, erm. Cartoon faced infantry units."

Rodimus slowly seems to be getting the hang of the game, although in one early turn he accidentally ends his turn without actually doing anything. His 'strategy' thus far is pretty simple, though - he sticks with making small, cheap units, attempting to send them against Emirate Xaaron in a steady stream over three routs, while keeping a minimal force behind to protect his base. He also wastes a small bit of time at the beginning building a boat that proves rather worthless.
"I suppose. It wouldn't be a good idea to generate this many new troops this quickly, anyway. Newly created Autobots sometimes have a rough period to go through when they've first been programmed."

Emirate Xaaron ends up making some big clunky units that are sort of hard to get in proper range to do anything useful. (Hey, he is a tank, okay? He liked how they look. The one reminds him of Impactor.) He also makes not only one but two useless boats. He makes a third mistake: he assumes that the cartoony little units cannot get over the trees, which allows Rodimus Prime to outflank him.
He smirks back at Optimus Prime, though, inquiring mildly, "And I assume that you think I sat around in the tunnels of Cybertron, doing nothing? I read the reports back from Earth and was as well appraised of the situation as I could be. I even deployed troops to Earth as needed."
And generally never saw them again.

Optimus feels very sheepish. "Oh, of course. Heh. Sorry."
"This looks to be a lot more complicated than the other game." He says to noone in particular, as he goes off in search of the instruction manual.
