Day 20. Semi-private.
Elita is very glad she managed to ditch Sentinel's efforts to follow her, and that Optimus hadn't tried. She needed time to think, and to cool down.
She is currently curled up on a couch in one of the viewing rooms. Her knees are drawn up under her chin as she stars at the stars.
"Well...," she muses aloud, "I suppose there might be worse things then finding out you die because of your friends." Though she can't think of what those things might be at the moment.

Blurr is just a little bored right now. He's already covered the ship three times today alone, dropped off Haywire at the biosphere – his partner wanted to ask Botanica something about fruit and Blurr couldn't really blame him since the little guy was really starting to get hungry and no-one likes the feeling of an empty fuel tank or stomach or whatever – and even managed by some miracle to sit in one place for an entire duty shift watching the rocks. He spent the entire time fidgeting and tapping his fingers or feet and exhausting every game he could find and even a game or two he made up on the spot just because he had nothing else to do.
Perhaps he's more than a little bored. The game-playing actually hasn't helped him at all; it's exacerbated the problem, really, but thankfully for Blurr, someone installed those games in the lounge and he's going to try them out. All of them.
Or maybe he isn't, he decides as the door opens on a sad-looking Autobot and the tail end of his – maybe her, actually, since that voice is higher on the scale like Arcee's – lament. About dying. Awkward.
"I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" Blurr begins, "Because if I am I can just leave but if I'm not you wouldn't mind sharing the lounge for a while, would you, and I won't be long believe me. I never take long for anything!" Then Blurr does a very rare thing: he pauses. A split second later, he does something much more normal and grins abashedly. "…That really didn't come out right at all." His ice-breaking seems a little rusty. That's bound to happen when he lets others do the talking because it averts little misunderstandings.

"Huh? Oh! No, no....um, go right ahead."
Elita-1 scoots a bit more into the corner of the couch, in case Blurr wants to sit on the opposite end.
She's trying to be polite and watch the speedster as he talks and moves, but she's finding that the trying gives her one horrible headache.
"I haven't met you yet, I don't think. My names's Elita."

Trying to watch him move for move is a mistake most people make when they first meet Blurr; he's holding back and Elita still looks pretty uncomfortable. Maybe he should try harder.
"You probably shouldn't focus too hard on me because it'll just set your brain module aching," he advises gently, giving Elita his best winning smile. "I'm still sort of new around here myself for that matter so don't worry about it, there are always things to sort out early on and you can't let yourself get too worried about them or you might end up like me! I'm Blurr by the way and it's a pleasure to meet you, Elita you said? Pleasure to meet you Elita and I'd introduce my partner Haywire but he's meeting Botanica right now, or that's what he's supposed to be doing so he isn't here for me to introduce." Is it just the odd filter from Blurr's end or is Haywire trying to get all charming on the plant lady?
Nah, can't be.
Blurr steps forward then – forward meaning he closes the distance between where he's still standing in the doorway and Elita on the couch – and offers her an amiable handshake. Folks do that where she comes from, right? He isn't going to offend her or something?

Elita blinks, then returns the handshake. It's a bit hesitant, but not wishy-washy. Her grip is firm.
"Nice to meet you, er, Blurr."
She smiles then, because she just can't help it. "So, I'm guessing you're a case where name follows function!"

"Huh?" Blurr blinks at Elita, hand still clasped around hers, then blinks again. "Oh!" he exclaims, hooking a thumb over his shoulder at the door – the automatic close is just now kicking in – and grins. "You mean that? I suppose you could say name follows function, then, but I thought that was normal for most unless you're someone like Kup since he isn't a cup at all. I think it has something to do with being a truck since people seem to call their trucks pickups but then again, maybe names didn't go with function so much back in his day. I should ask him about it sometime!" Because if there's an Autobot who talks as much as Blurr, it's got to be Kup. Kup just makes more sense at it. Blurr adds, "And what about you?"
Then his mood shifts as fast as he does and he gives Elita a friendly, concerned look. He doesn't invite himself to sit just yet.
"You okay?"

"Me?" Elita tilts her head to one side, seriously considering the question. Well, seriously considering both of them, actually, as Blurr is so fast that she really doesn't have time to answer in between.
"It's just the name I was given." She never asked after the reasoning.
Then she sighs. "Yeah, I'm...okay. Just had a bit of disturbing news."
"Please," she waves at the space on the couch, "Don't let me keep you from enjoying the view. An odd quirk of her lips and she adds, "I can keep my upset to myself."
She always does.

The face Blurr makes is a face that screams unconvinced. After all, he could see through Hot Rod's fibs. Well, he could see through them sometimes, but Hot Rod was probably a master of the little white lie when he wasn't out trading blows with Decepticons or charming folks with his roguish grin.
"Disturbing news, huh?" Blurr muses. Still he avoids taking Elita up on the offer of a seat, zipping around the couch to lean on the back instead, propping his chin in one hand. "Boy do I know how you feel! I mean I found out right after I got here that I die way before my time!"

Elita is quite obviously startled by Blurr's admission. Her head comes up and her optics widen a bit as she stares at him. Well, sort of stares. Looking right at him still gives her a headache. "But...that's what Optimus and Sentinel just told me, too! About my future. And..and it seems to be their fault, somehow." Her head drops back down to chest. She seems to find her knees quite fascinating. "Or at least, they blame each other and themselves." And that is what she is finding so hard to deal with. OOC: Sorry, sorry, sorry! Work schedule has been all topsy turvy.

OOC: No worries.
Blurr doesn't say anything at first when Elita explains herself, in part because while he's had basically the same news, what can he say? Everything he can think of sounds so trite and hollow. But she's clearly hurting, too. Why couldn't cheering people up have come with the super-speed?
Probably because the super-speed came with irritating people instead, come to think.
Finally, Blurr just seizes on the first thought that comes to him that isn't another overused line about sympathy. That sort of cliché thing isn't what people like to hear anyway, right? Or was it the other way around….
"Well, do you blame them?" he wonders, giving her a sympathetic look instead. "Trust me when I say I know how awful it is to learn about this kind of thing because I understand, I really do, but I can only imagine what it's like for your friends because they had to go on without you there." He looks down at his own hands, optics dimming, expression turning morose and his brows knitting with worry. "My best friend – well he's sort of my best friend but kind of not since he became Prime, it's hard to explain – he was the one who told me and… and it really hurt him. I was gone and it hurt him badly and all I want to do is fix it by not dying somehow." He crosses his arms on the couch and hunches his shoulders inward. "He was the leader then so I think he blames himself in part for what happens to me but I'm sure he mostly blames Galvatron for actually doing the deed." He looks at Elita again, curious. "Your friends blame each other for what happens to you," he murmurs, "but… do you blame them?"
He repeats the question mostly because he's afraid he might have distracted Elita into forgetting it when he ran off at the mouth.

"Um, I don't know, really," she answers at length. "I don't even know what really happened. They couldn't stop yelling at each other long enough to tell me." She sounds more exasperated now rather than upset, so maybe Blurr's ramble is helping to put things in perspective.
She shrugs and stretches her neck. "But what if I do? It's only to be expected, really. It's not like we were in a battle or some such. They were disobeying orders- well, technically we all were- but...."
She is quiet for several moments and she pointedly stares out the window.
"It's a mess. We were all friends. I'm not sure how to deal with us not being friends anymore."

"Oh." It's to be expected? Blurr makes a dismayed face and just watches Elita for a second or two. Sage advice really isn't his field of expertise. Not that it doesn't stop him from trying, but where's Kup when you need him? Kup always has something. What would Kup say?
…That this reminds him of that time on that one world where something happened just like this time, but different. Okay, so that might not help as much as Blurr hoped it would.
"So," he ventures quietly, still watching her, "do you not consider them your friends any more?" He can understand, at least in part, if she doesn't; all he has to do is picture something as bizarre as Hot Rod and Kup at each other's throats for reasons they're too busy fighting over to explain to Blurr and he can easily imagine her frustration. But he also knows that friends that close don't drift away from each other without good reasons. Maybe the other two just need Elita back in their lives if her not being there is what caused the split in the first place.
Blurr really hopes he's better at this advice thing when he's older.

"Of course they're still my friends!" Elita snaps, tone a bit harsher than she means it to be. "They'll always be my friends! Nothing will change that!"
At least, she can hope nothing will.
She stands and starts to pace back and forth, hands behind her back. Blurr's question seems to have at the very least caused her to exchange her self-pity for anger.
"I don't know what to do! Sentinel won't listen to me, and Optimus just seems so sad, and they're both are so angry at each other. Usually, I'm the voice of reason between them."
And that's the crux of it all. She wants to fix things, and but lacks the proper knowledge and tools. There isn't an upgrade she can borrow that will help her.

Blurr holds up both hands in a disarming gesture, trying not to grimace. He hasn't calmed Elita down at all! He's just made her more upset in a different way!
"Maybe… er. Maybe you should try the voice of reason thing again," he suggests lamely.

"But they won't listen!"
Elita would be crying tears of frustration if she could, and the look she turns on Blurr is one of extreme anguish and worry. Sentinel and Optimus mean more to her than she'd ever admit to them or anyone else. She barely admits it to herself.
She looks away, covers her optics with one hand.
"I'm sorry. You're being awfully nice and trying to help, and I'm....not."
