Day 3
Emirate Xaaron shares an office with Rodimus Prime. Why, exactly, he's stuck sharing an office when Kup has his own office is a Mystery. It is certainly not for any love of Rodimus Prime's taste in music – Winterborn again?
Rodimus Prime is not in right now, even if his music is still playing. There's no good cop today. There's just The Music.
Emirate Xaaron leans over his chair, looking down at a datapad on his desk as he waits for Springer and Jetfire to arrive.

Springer knew this was coming. Heck, he's barely had time to think over what happened, given how busy things have been.
However, it's time to face the music. They failed in their mission, and it's time to talk about why.
Before going in, he gives Jetfire a winning grin. "Don't worry too much about it. I'm fairly certain it won't be too bad."
Perhaps Springer is not as familiar with Xaaron as he'd like to think he is.

Jetfire, on the other hand, had absolutely no idea this was coming. If he does something wrong he's used to being chastised immediately (and often loudly). He'd practically forgotten that day by now!
Still, he gives Springer a smile back, if a slightly perturbed one. He follows the Wrecker's lead into the office, body held ramrod straight at attention.

Although we are men, with mortal sins, angels never cry sing the speakers.
Stupid time vortices preventing Emirate Xaaron from doing anything in a timely manner!
He gestures to a pair of chairs, more like stools, really, because some people can't handle chair backs, some people can't handle chair arms, and in the end, simple is best.
Emirate Xaaron explains, "I do have to apologize for not being more timely in consulting you on this matter, but with the shuttle launch, things have been decidedly busy."
He slides the datapad down to drawer in his desk and folds his hands on the desk, sitting up a bit straighter. "Now. I do believe that you were ordered to retrieve the rogue Dinobot, if possible. I'd like an explanation why it didn't prove possible."

Once inside, Springer takes one of the offered stools, resting one foot higher than the other, arms crossed lightly. "No worries, Xaaron. It's been kinda crazy all over the place, so it's understandable."
And Xaaron cuts right to the chase. Ooof. Unfortnately for Springer, 'the plot and wishes of the players' won't cut it here. Plus, Springer doesn't know that.
"Ah, that. Well, it's a touch complex. The bare-frame answer is pretty much that she refused to come with us. She has issues with Autobots as much as she has Decepticons, though she did do some field repairs on Jetfire out of gratitude for helping drive the Decepticons off."

"I was leaking much fluid, Emirate Xaaron, sir," Jetfire says lamely. He is not entirely sure if he means it as an explanation or just as an addition to what Springer said. It is not meant as an excuse, though!
Excuses never got he and his brother far back home. Sentinel Prime was not really the sort to take them. Or any explanation at all for the most part.

Emirate Xaaron considers the answer, and he pulls up datafile on the datapad, making a few modifications. He asks Springer, "Issues with the Autobots. Did she go into the nature of these issues?"
This is quite important, after all. Emirate Xaaron needs to know whether or not to classify the rogue Dinoformer as 'shoot on sight' or not.

"As she informed Jetfire and myself, sir, the Autobots of her reality killed her Dinobot brothers. Melted them down, apparently, so she doesn't care for Autobots. She wasn't openly hostile toward us after the Decepticons left, however, she made it known that she had no intentions of coming back with us." Springer's posture remains professional, at least as professional as one can get with how he's sitting on the stool.
"A good deal smarter than the Dinobots we have here, in comparison. Well able to write out regular words and sentences, but has an issue with her programming or something. Something physical that makes her talk like Grimlock and Slag. Quite able to fend for herself, too. Big flaming hammer, smashed Blitzwing right in the face."

Jetfire nods along with what Springer is saying, then adds, "Is very terrible knowing that there are Autobots who are willing to do such things without giving fair trial." Especially when said Autobots were probably from his home dimension (little does he know...). "Is also being very sad thing to lose brothers." His face falls slightly, but he remains at attention.
Topic. He sure knows how to stick to one.

Emirate Xaaron's hands move to his temples, and he stares at Springer and Jetfire.
Executions are not unknown in Emirate Xaaron's reality. Not just under Emirate Xaaron. Even Optimus Prime's troops feared that Optimus Prime would order their deaths, now and then.
He can accept that executing the Dinobots might even be valid action, depending on the circumstance. (Or locking them in a closet or exiling them to an island...)
A smart Dinobot with a flaming hammer who doesn't want to work with them. Argh. Headache.
"Wait? Without fair trial?" He stabs a finger at Jetfire. "Explain that part."

Xaaron may have pointed at Jetfire, but Springer sets the ball rolling.
"From what she told us, the Autobots in her reality managed to stop her brothers from rampaging and went straight to the meltdown." His face is attempting to be neutral, but there's a slight air of disappointment on it.
Springer forgets that he was all 'shoot first and autopsy the remains later' a few weeks ago.

"What Springer is saying," Jetfire says with a nod in the Wrecker's direction, "She is telling us they are not getting any trial."
He pauses to think for a moment, trying to remember what was said. "Or maybe that humans were destroying them and Autobots did nothing. Either way, there was being no trial."

Emirate Xaaron marks down some more notes, and he drums his fingers in his desk thoughtfully. "If her brothers were on a rampage, it is possible that death was the only option to stop them, though if they had the time to smelt them, it does sound as if they had them captured first. Problematic. Hmm."
Emirate Xaaron rubs his chin and leans back in his chair. "In some cases, a trial is simply impractical." He gets the idea that Jetfire is a bit young, so he explains in a bit more detail than he might otherwise. "If her brothers made enemies of themselves to the Autobots, they might end up killed like Decepticons. Crisis tends to make everyone a bit ugly."
"At the same time, I could certainly understand her being upset over the matter, whether the executions were due or undue, just or unjust. If she truly wishes to walk out, if she ever walked in in the first place, that is her right. Only a tyrant would revoke it."
"However, I have to mark her down as a potential threat to those still on Gillanan II. For all we know, her brothers were executed for being serial killers, and she's just a bit more well-mannered. Hmm?"

Springer shifts a bit. "Well, we also don't know the whole story, just her side of it. From what she knows, I'd say her dislike is justified. However, it would be nice if we had all the facts. You said she was from Optimus' reality?" Springer looks over at Jetfire. "Which makes her from yours as well. Maybe we should dig around a bit, talk to others there about any Dinobots."
Springer's attention goes back to Xaaron, and he nods. "Potential threat, yes. Maybe more to those from her reality that she knows. It might be worth letting it be known that if anyone encounters her, perhaps have them tell her that they're friends of Springer and Jetfire. We left our frequencies with her to call, if she needed anything. She did not volunteer her own, however."

Trials impractical? Killed like Decepticons? This conversation is making Jetfire feel rather uncomfortable. Surely stasis cuffs and imprisonment are the way to go. Maybe someone might die in the heat of battle, but... Jetfire is just an innocent soldier from a largely peaceful time. Killing is not something he is used to.
He feels like making some sort of protest, but nothing Emirate Xaaron is saying seems technically wrong and the 'Bot is in command. So he keeps his thoughts quite and says nothing more than, "I am thinking we are all coming from same reality, yes."
