"Oh, I can already guarentee there's a difference in standards, because there's been so many among us," Rodimus answers, pausing to glance over at Perceptor. He's nearing a point where he's done as many repairs he can without first synthesizing specialize new parts... and let's not go into what needs to be recycled to make those parts, shall we?
Rodimus hesitates a moment as that thought reminds him of the bodies still unrecovered from the loss of the Garage Base. Sure, there's the emotional impact of losing that one, but from a somewhat more ghoulish perspective, there is also the fact that his parts, what's left of them anyway, would be almost ideal for repairing Magnus. Given how wrapped up with his brother Ultra Magnus is, though, maybe this is for the best.
Rodimus shakes off that throught.
"But standards aside, you're forgetting the practical part. You'd be a lot harder to interrogate if you were unconscious, after all, and these repairs give us the chance to look through your systems that much earlier." He gestures towards the room they're in. "Remember, we're quarentined right now. Getting you cleared is the first step in getting Perceptor and I out of here."
He pulls the right corner of his lips up in a quirk of a grin as he leans back. He really is as done as he can get right now, so there's nothign left but to wait. "You'll notice we haven't fed you yet, after all."

"There is that," Magnus concurs wearily. He can't see the half-grin Rodimus turns on him, but he exhales a thin sort of chuckle anyway at the strange Prime's tone. He falls slient after that and for an instant isn't even sure if he's conscious.
Exhaustion was never quite this interesting. But he can't let himself pass out yet; he'll be harder to interrogate if he's unconscious, after all, and he has no idea if there will be any more questions or not.

Rodimus is, in fact, about done with the questions. In fact, that's not the only thing he's about done with. He pushes himself away and looks up at Perceptor, explaining, "I've done all I can do without any custom parts." Magnus's system will need to integrate the new parts already added, and of course, he's exhausted, but he should no longer be in any real danger.
The Boy Prime nods towards the device that Perceptor is working on. "Anything interesting there?"

OOC: If Rodimus and Perceptor are going to start a back-and-forth about things, perhaps Magnus and Perceptor can trade skippable status for ease of conversation?
"Custom parts?" Magnus echoes Rodimus in a mumble. There's something of a tired smile there even if Magnus doesn't have a mouth. "Now you're trying to spoil me." Seriousness isn't helping him stay any more conscious, after all.

"Well, it isn't as if we have a large warehouse filled with ready-made parts specific to everyone's base specifcations already," Perceptor observes absently, already having forgotten that he is supposed to be quiet during this interview.
"Understood, Rodimus," he adds, closing up an access hatch in the module and straightening up from where he had been crouched over the part. "Botanica has examined the slides I forwarded to her and shares my conclusion; no microscopic threats to ship or personell were identified. I believe that it is now safe to release yourself, Xaaron, and Mirage from Quarantine, when you are ready to go. My work will take considerably longer." He nods toward Magnus, whose systems he's barely begun to filter through.
"I can fabricate the necessary parts while I continue examining his systems, if you wish, to release you to more pressing duties, or you may manufacture them yourself, if that is your preference. I am comfortable with either."
"As for this," he explains, indicating the module, "it appears to be a sort of... external interface which does not require a physical uplink. Dormant, of course, even before it was excised, as the Event Horizon lacks the necessary broadcasting componentry, however, it appears to be a component which facilitates energy transfer on a non-physical level. Very interesting theory. I would like to examine it further once Magnus has been fully examined and cleared."
"I do apologize, Ultra Magnus, however, I cannot in good conscience return this component to your structures until I have finished studying it after your examination and completed repairs. There is still a possibility that Shockwave has engineered in hidden features which could be used to disable or damage you and those around you that I have simply not uncovered during this cursory evaluation."

"Non-physical energy transfer?" Rodimus asks curiously. He frowns and considers. "You mean, like those wireless power transfer stations they had on Gillanan?" 1 Interesting concept, that. He turns towards Magnus and explains, "Like Perceptor said, in his round about way, we don't really have that many specialized parts - just the generic stuff that everyone uses. So most repairs need a few customs made. We've got a replicator that turns energy and other matter into what we need, but unfortunately it's easiest to make parts when the matter in question already consists of Cybertronian alloys." 1 Apparently it's possible. Check it out. And here we thought we were just making crap up when we included it in Deadzone. Note the date of the article! It's a few months after Deadzone opened!

Perhaps it's time Ultra Magnus works on his levity. Not that he didn't expect Perceptor to miss his hobbled attempt.
"I'm… familiar with Perceptor's dissertations," he tells Rodimus. "But you've saved me the need… to ask him to clarify." He may not look it, but he is grateful for that. He can only take so many indignant or crestfallen looks in a day and he's quite certain he has met his quota and more besides. He turns his head toward the scientist then. "Keep it," he mumbles; he doesn't even have the energy at this point to flick his hand at the module. "It won't work now… not without Cybertron." Shutdown alerts become warnings as his systems begin to power off and he wearily slurs the last few words before passing out entirely. "Perhaps we weren't the only ones who drew our power from the planet…."
OOC: Unconscious and skippable.

Magnus has conveniently passed out, and so misses that sheepish look that crosses Perceptor's features as he and Rodimus subtly twit him on his vocabulary. "Apol-- wait. From the planet? Ultra Magnus, can you..."
Well, drat.
"...Rest quietly while I attempt to make sense of what exactly you were implying before your systems entered emergency shut down," he sighs, shaking his head once he acertains that Magnus is in no immediate danger of permanently off-lining.
"Perhaps this is how Cybertron, itself, was able to affect the shut down of all inhabitants?" he muses, staring thoughtfully at the energy transfer module.

"Man, Perceptor, you don't even do 'sleep well' briefly, do you?" Rodimus teases, his grin showing good humor more than anything else. Since he's done with his repairs until they get the right parts, he heads to the wall and leans against it until he can be checked over and cleared from quarantine.
"And if that's the thing Shockwave put in to let them get power from Cybertron, how would Cybertron have shut them down before it was installed?" he asks.
OOC: We seem to be heading towards a good wrap-up point?

Perceptor chuckles softly at the teasing and sets the module aside. "Brevity is for the unimaginative and imprecise," he replies with a grin.
"But, yes, you would be correct. Well, I shall puzzle that quandary out at another time, perhaps. As our guest is in no danger of deactivating, shall I clear you for egress now? I believe that my concerns about contamination, sabotage, and pathogen vectoring were unfounded."
In other words, he's offering to cancel the quarantine now. Yes, Xaaron, that means that you can come hover over him and grumble and fret about Perceptor's alterior motives again, if you wish.
ooc: sounds good to me. I'm cool for a wrap-up.

Rodimus smirks at Perceptor's comment, and mutters, "Then just call me 'unimaginative.'" He tends to think rather the opposite, but he wouldn't argue the 'imprecise' part. Then he pushes himself away from the wall and nods.
"But yeah. I was never made for being trapped... well, anywhere for too long." Few things grate on Rodimus more than being told he's not allowed to leave! "The sooner you can clear me, the better."
He then winks. "But if you can be 'unimaginative and imprecise' about it, I'd appreciate it."

Perceptor snorts indelicately, adding a wry, "I very much doubt that." Unconventional, yes. Unimaginative? Definitely not.
"I believe that I can exercise restraint for you. Just this once." Perceptor grins as he turns to process Rodimus to clear him from the quarrantine ward.
ooc: call it a wrap?
