Takes place sometime after CtF ends, but before the DZ-3 'Bots arrive
Shockwave slowly makes his way to Hook's lab. Understanding fully the logic and need behind these mandatory exams did not stop Shockwave from being loathe to comply. It has been longer than long since he has required repairs from another, and willing letting someone muck about in his internals, even one so skilled Hook, was not something Shockwave desired to do.
And the Constructicon and Shockwave were not exactly on the best of terms.
He pauses just inside the door to the lab, "Tell me again why I can not simply provide you with full schematics, schematics which you know full well would be up to even your exacting standards?"

"Because schematics can be falsified."
Hook has preferred to do these examinations in the main Medical Ward. However, certain people have been invited down to his labs in order to be properly cut open and catalogued in privacy. Starscream. Spinister. Needlenose.
Shockwave.
The Constructicon stands next to a medical table almost identical to the ones to be found in the Medical Ward. Even the straps look much the same.
However, none of the Medical Ward tables have the racks of cutters built right in to one side.

"Hgn. Doing so would be a highly illogical move on my part. Were I to become injured enough to need outside assistance, I would have done myself a grave disservice. I am not a standard issue build, after all."
Arguing the point further is also a waste of time. It has been made perfectly clear to Shockwave that he must allow this intrusion. Still, it galls. He crosses over to the table, looking across it at Hook. He lays a datastick on the table.
"At any rate, there are the correct and unaltered schematics for myself at present. I am cooperating in this, Hook, because I understand to an extent the need. However, I would prefer not to be restrained, and I would prefer to remain on-line for the duration. Do you have issue with either of those requests?"

"Yes." Hook picks up the datastick and plugs it into the port a mostly empty datapad. He has been doing much the same whenever people give him schematics; after all, he does want to be sure their data won't corrupt the many, vital files he has been making lately.
"Sit down, legs extended out in front of you. I'll pop the armor on them first."

Shockwave's optic flickers. Hook answered, and it was valid answer considering the questions phrasing. Touche
"Elaborating on that answer would be appreciated," he replies.
He complies with Hook's orders, sitting down and extending his legs so Hook can work on them.
Hook has permission to cut, poke, prod and otherwise examine Shockwave for the duration.

"Acknowledged."
Hook selects a hooked stiletto from his rack of cutting blades and uses it like a stylus on the screen of the datapad. If these schematics were correct, the opening mechanism on Shockwave's armor should be right there.
Contrary to popular medical thrillers, any halfway competent medical engineer could remove a patient's armor without cutting it off. People were built for that after all.
Hook slides the stiletto into a seam in Shockwave's leg, sliding it until the hook catches on a tiny bit of metal. He lightly pulls the stiletto towards him until the latch clicks, and Shockwave's leg armor pops open.
The Constructicon moves silently around to the other side of the table and repeats the procedure on Shockwave's other leg.
The hooked stiletto is returned to its place on the rack, and Hook removes Shockwave's armor and lays it out on a nearby workbench. Exactly aligned as it would go back on the cyclops's chassis.
"Hold still for scanning." Hook reaches up and drags down an overhead scanner. It's almost strikingly primitive compared to the norm of Decepticon medical scanner technology. At least until the Constructicon turns it on. No matter that the thing runs on overhead tracks; the projection of scanned material is something no base as hard-strapped of this one should be capable of.
This was why Hook wanted to snare Needlenose in Engineering and never let him go. The Mayhem did good work.

Shockwave quells the annoyance that rises at Hook's unhelpful reply. The Constructicon is determined to be difficult it seems. Very well, cross that bridge when they come to it.
It is more than a little disconcerting, allowing this, allowing another such access. Shockwave is leaned back, propped on his elbows in a seemingly relaxed posture, but there is a subtle tension running through him, one that he does not bother to hide. Hook would likely find it more odd were Shockwave not tense.
Despite this, he remains perfectly still, lets Hook do his work. Though his optic flickers slightly when he notes how well the scanner works. Very nice.

After the leg scans are taken, Hook taps a few commands on the screen of the console attached to this work-table. As a background program begins to deconstruct and rebuild the scanned data into readable reports, the Constructicon turns back to his patient.
"Lie down fully."

Shockwave stares at Hook for just a bit too long before complying. He trusts Hook's skill implicitly; what he does not trust is the Constructicon's temperament. But still, he does eventually lie back on the worktable.
"You have made these exams mandatory, and have refused to accept schematics in lieu of them. Who then, will be granted the privilege of verifying your own workings, Hook?"

Hook takes up the hooked stiletto again and works the hook into one of Shockwave's pelvis seams. "I know my own body perfectly well."

"And I know my own body perfectly well. Yet, I am here, because the possibility does exist that I might become so injured that I can not perform my own repairs. Highly unlikely, but possible."
Shockwave's fingers flex a bit as Hook works loose the catch in his pelvic armour.
"The possibility also exists that you might also become so crippled. Are you so proud that you would rather die than let one who is not of your gestalt know your systems so intimately?"

"Oh, I will grant access to my own schematics to a select few. I am well aware of the damages that can be done to me." Omega Supreme wants to kill him, after all. Very, very dead.
Hook removes Shockwave's pelvis armor and lays it out on the worktable above the leg armor, then returns to work on the abdominal plates below the main bulk of the nuclear reactor.

"Hgn. I imagine you have no intention of including myself in that 'select few'," Shockwave said. Of course, he could order Hook to submit to the same invasion of privacy that Hook is requiring of everyone else. But there are times to push, and times to not- such as when a skilled cyber-surgeon has you on his table.
Shockwave is still holding perfectly still, though his discomfort is increasing. The last time he needed another's aid was after the debacle with Skystalker. At least Hook isn't likely to lop off Shockwave's head and play ventriloquist.

"Of course not," Hook says blandly as he ferries Shockwave's abdominal plating to the table with the rest of his armor. "Lay still for this scan."
Assuming Shockwave does, the Constructicon runs the scanner over the cyclops. "Your arms will be next, and then your head. I will leave the reactor for last, and then take full-body scans before replacing your armor."

Hook is letting Shockwave know in what order he will be stripped. How considerate. Though at the mention of baring his reactor, Shockwave's optic flickers again. No movements of body to disrupt Hook's precious scans, but still an obvious expression of his discomfiture. Rather than voice arguments which he knows would be a waste of effort, Shockwave returns to their previous topic.
"And why not give them to me, Hook? To spite me, because you know I want the information, or because you fear what I might do with said?"
