"Oh. She should have just gone with bathing in the blood of virgins. Less collateral damage." Pee-Dee uncurls herself from Boondocker and shifts back to actually sitting in her own seat. Sweet as he might be, it wouldn't do to be accused of cheating.
"Pretty, pretty," she says softly and plucks up one of Mirage's chits to take a look at. "You sure you want to lose these?"
Junkions play for keeps.
Pee-Dee plucks up a red chip and a blue chip, and tosses them into the pot. "See your twenty, raise you five."
It should be noted that she has yet to actually look at her cards. In fact, she seems more interested in looking at Nightbeat's forearms. Those flame designs are distinctive and interesting, and they're suggesting a weird idea to her.
"Hey, Nightbeat, what's your top speed?"

"About 620 miles an hour," Nightbeat replies. He considers his cards, briefly, and selects two of them to trade in. "I'll take two," he says.
Is Pee-Dee paying attention to him? Well, to his decals at any rate. It's a start, he supposes. Not that he cares.
Nope.
Doesn't even like her at all.
And with consideration to the others, he tosses some more chips in. "I'll see the twenty-five, raise another five."

Bluestreak definitely looks happy - of course Emirate Xaaron notices those perky door-wings.
He has to keep in a snort at Mirage wanting people to be honourable. Really, honour is just an excuse that prevents one from using every option available.
Pee-Dee doesn't seem to be paying any attention at all. Either she has this game in the bag or she's distracted by the flames on Nightbeat's arms. What is up with those, anyway? Result of an overcharge when Nightbeat was younger?
Emirate Xaaron considers his cards and throws one away. At what he gets instead, he smiles slightly. It's a subtle expression, easy enough to miss, but anyone watching for a reaction will notice it.
Selecting the correct colour and amount of tokens, he comments, "See and raise by five."
Emirate Xaaron seems quietly confident in his hand, still down to the table after that peek. It's nothing so obvious as Bluestreak's reaction, but if someone like Xaaron was that obvious, he'd clearly be bluffing.

Shrugging at Mirage's reply, Oracle settled back down onto her table before scooting slightly closer to the others so she could watch a bit better. "Not like you had a reason to know how things worked for me." She had rather gone out of her way to make sure no one knew much before now, but if circumstances were going to force her to be open, she was going to do her best to at least try and work with it.
Setting her feet flat after a moment and wrapping her arms across the tops of her knees, she curled up and rested her chin on her forearms in a position that looked like it should have been highly uncomfortable. For her it was simply and old habit, and she settled down to watch the card players quietly, content to watch the interactions unless addressed. There was a lot she could learn just paying attention, even in a setting like this. Admittedly, her attention was more on some of the players then on others, but thanks to her visor she could be content in the knowledge the unless she was blatant, only she knew who she was watching. Well that and admittedly her gaze and her attention didn't always match up, but only she and hopefully Kup knew that.
OOC: Skippable for now, watching unless spoken to by someone, or something happens.

Bluestreak eyes Pee-Dee with an expression of mingled confusion and worry. "Blood of... virgins?" He's about to ask what she means, then decides he doesn't want to know.
"Wow, Nightbeat, that's FAST!" he says to the detective, discarding two cards and drawing two replacements. "How long can you keep that top speed up? Ever been in any races? I raced a bit back on Earth, maybe sometime I'll have to tell you about the Europa 2000. Wonder if we could organize another race here -- I'd love to see how fast some of the mechs from other realities can go..."
He peeks at his cards -- huh, not better, but not really worse either. With a slight shrug of his doorwings he flips the appropriate number of chips into the center, opting not to raise.

Boondocker joins Bluestreak in boggling at Pee-Dee's suggestion, but he just shakes his head and adjusts in his seat with an "Oooo-kay..." look on his face. Two cards go in the discard pile, and two more are drawn. Optics flick back and forth from the panel to the cards in his hand.
A light twitch of his mouth turns to a slight frown. Not the desired result, but may as well see things through to the end. "Ah'll see th' thirty-five" he says, putting in the number of chips, though noticing the ones Mirage has with a low whistle. "Oooooooh... Them thar's some faincy'n's."

Mirage smiles at Pee-Dee, "Well, no, I do not particularly want to lose them. One never goes into the game wanting to lose. But such is the nature of gambling, and you have put up your own pretty collection. It would not be fair of me to keep my own tucked safely away. Besides," his voice turns low and flirting, "you might afford me the chance to earn them back at a later date."
Mirage mucks two cards, and glances briefly at the replacements before adding them to his hand. They improve his hand at least, but are not what he wanted. He considers the others reactions a moment before casually seeing the bet. Mirage's hand is decent enough, but he's fairly certain it isn't the best at the table. However, he never folds on the first hand.

"Oh!" A grin spreads over Pee-Dee's face at Nightbeat's answer. "I've been reading you all wrong! You're just a young punk."
Pee-Dee is quite pleased with herself for putting that together, and it's with that attitude that she actually looks at her cards for the first time. She shuffles them around, then shuffles them around another way, before finally drawing two out and discarding them. The replacement two don't seem to make her sunny disposition falter, but there might be a question if she's so happy about her hand or about figuring Nightbeat out.
Her cards go back down on the table in a fan, and she plants an elbow on them. "See and raise by ten."
Casually, she reaches out and grabs a handful of tokens and flicks the chosen amount into the pot. "Well, I might do that, Mirage. Or I might just tease you along with the possibility of getting them back."
She smirks as she leans back to obviously survey the other players. She's been keeping an optic on them since game-start, but it's always nice to have a firm reminder that your actions are being observed.

Nightbeat is not a young punk! Nightbeat is just one or two steps below yelling at the young punks to get off his lawn. He's already got quite a few speeches about the youth element of today, blasted it may be, after all.
"Well, maybe, once," he says. "But that was a long time ago, dollface."
His hand is not, by any means, great, and he knows it... but Nightbeat is not especially good when it comes to backing down. Not when he can bluff his way out.
He flips more chips in. "I'll see that, raise by... twenty."

Emirate Xaaron comments to Bluetsreak, for all that Bluestreak doesn't want to know, "The internal fluids of virgins are of great interest in certain distasteful religious rites." He makes a slightly disgusted face. Yes, he's opinionated, but that's not the issue - the issue is that the opinion of said virgins generally isn't taken into account.
The boggling over Nightbeat's speed is odd to Emirate Xaaron. He was familiar enough with Nightbeat's specs from his personnel file, which he had recently reviewed during the Matrix Quest. So Nightbeat is fast and has a flame job? So what? Teasingly, he inquires, "So, how overcharged were you, Nightbeat? Could I get the story if I tipped Maccadam well enough?"
It's best to keep his opponents rattled, after all. Emirate Xaaron sees the current amount.

No, Bluestreak really didn't want to know.
"Ewww," he says, screwing up his face comically. "That's really weird. And why virgins? Don't answer that, maybe I don't want to know..."
He sees the current amount.

Dag-gum, Nightbeat is confident. Jackin' up the bet by twenty? Eeesh. It's enough to encourage Boondocker to back down.
"Eh...ah'll fold" he says, stacking his cards and laying them down in front of him. May be better to drop earlyand just observe the rest of these guys in their element.
He does make a squicked face at Xaaron and Bluestreak's discussions. "Ah'm with Blue, don' answer that..."

Mirage isn't interested in Nightbeat's torrid past. Mirage is interested in the game. He notes Boondocker's fold- not surprising that- and that Bluestreak, despite seeming less than thrilled with his cards, stayed in. Nightbeat and Xaaron are nigh to unreadable, and Pee-Dee...Pee-Dee is entirely too much fun.
Mirage tosses in the current amount; it's worth losing a few chits to see how people play. Once he's seen the bet he looks back up at Pee-Dee, lips quirking up slightly, "Perhaps you will lead me along like the rifleman leads his mark and wound me gravely just for sport. But I stand by what I said at the party- it would be most worth it. What are a few bits and baubles compared to such attentions?"

She shrugs. "Mid-life crisis then?"
The police always get a few wrong leads before they nab the perp. No harm, no foul.
Hmm. Boondocker folding meant Boondocker is afraid of where the betting is going. Yet he's the only one who has gotten that way so far.
Not that she's really surprised, since only she and Mirage actually have anything on the line. Still and all...
She glances at Nightbeat, Emirate Xaaron, and Bluestreak in turn. Her gaze briefly flicks to Oracle - such a tense jet - before moving on to Mirage.
The detective is good at hiding things. The Bat-Xaaron is... She wants to say that smile earlier was a feint, but she's not sure if she's letting her knowledge of the character overwhelm her knowledge of the person. Take it at face-value for this game, she decides.
Bluestreak had his door-wings all excitedly a'quiver earlier. Now she's seen the kid around the base, and if he could hide his emotions for half a minute, she'd go up against the Joker with her bare hands. So he thought he had something pretty good going there.
Mirage, like Nightbeat, is good at hiding things.
She smirks and tosses a match into the pot, then reaches into the chip pile. "See and raise you by one hundred."
One golden chip is spun over her fingers, then flicked right into the center of the pot.
Time to see how easily these fellows scared.
"A few bits and baubles in exchange for such fun?" Pee-Dee mock-pouts and winks at Mirage. "There's a word for that you know, and I'd not much care for you to be applying it to me."

Boondocker and Bluestreak are, respectively, a bumpkin and a kid. Nightbeat can read them like a book for the most part.
Xaaron's fairly difficult to get any kind of read on, other than to expect that he's probably two steps ahead of even Nightbeat, and therefore almost possible to read if you read around what you do and don't see.
Mirage is hard to read, in his own way, but Nightbeat knows the type. Effete snobs the lot of them.
And Pee-Dee... Well, she unnerves him enough and confuses him enough that's probably in over his head, like he usually is with females.
Still, he's too stubborn/stupid to know when to back down. "I'll see and raise by ten."
