Long Range lowers his rifle and glances over when he hears the chitter. Eye-Fire mentioned being hit with something that resembled an earth scorpion....
"Companion, accomplice or pet?" Long Range asks Blackout, reffering to Scopronok.

"Scorponok," Blackout identifies the boogly bot, who crawls out into plain view on Blackout's outstretched arm. The bug-bot shows no signs of damage from the battle; Blackout treats his little ally well. "My pet. He is useful when a mission requires more subtlety than my size allows."
OOC note: According to the official movie guidebook (as quoted by the Transformers Wiki), Scorponok is roughly nine feet long. This puts him at about Minibot-size. It also means the Deluxe toy is to scale with the Deluxe movie cars, oddly enough.

Aimless continues to cower, but Misfire finds himself intrigued.
"You call him a pet. Does that mean he lacks independence, individuality? Is he only defined by his relation to yourself, I mean." Misfire actually moves a bit closer, though he's wary. He does not want a face full of blade-covered scorpion, no he does not.
"What would happen were he injured? Or deactivated?"

Misfire is probing deeper than Long Range would, but he has no reason to not listen to the answer if Blackout chooses to answer.
"It is unfortunate." He remarks, "That there are such few good targets for me to practice on."

"He has a spark of his own," Blackout replies to Misfire's first question, as if that is answer enough.
At the second, however, Blackout visibly bristles. The big chopper looms over the gaudy Targetmaster, optics flaring with a furious glow. "If someone dared, I would rip out their pulsing spark with my bare hands and melt them down into scrap metal!" This is likely not a line of questioning to pursue much further.

Misfire is curious. He asks questions, notices patterns. He meant no offense; he merely is interested in how the two relate, and how similar their bond is to his and Aimless' or say, Soundwave and his cassettes.
He looks up at the chopper, and though he twitches a bit, he doesn't look afraid. Showing fear tends to be frowned upon in the Decepticon ranks. Now, if Needlenose or Spinister suddenly appeared behind Misfire? That's another story.
The Targetmaster shrugs, "Just asking. If he is tied to you, that makes him a weakness, just as our Nebulans can be. But if he isn't actually tied, and he's more like a cassette...," Misfire scratches absently at the back of his head. "Didn't mean to irk you off."
Looking over at Long Range, Misfire comments, "Well, just goes to prove that bigger isn't always better, I'd say. You have to sacrifice finesse for strength and range."

"Finesse? You've obviously never watched the grace and serenity with which a projectile powerful to demolish a building arcs, or the subtle beauty inherent in the detonation of a fortification, or-" He says before he catches himself sounding something like Sky-Byte extolling the virtues of poetry.
For those watching, he appears frozen as his mind tries to shift gears without the clutch.

If Misfire had shown fear, Blackout probably would've punted him in disgust. As it is, he simply turns around to face the firing range, blasting a wave out of his EMP generator. A crescent of blue-white energy cuts through the air, crackling against the ground and shattering a metallic target into shrapnel.
"When you lack both size and finesse, where does that leave you?"

Thinly veiled insults. So we've resorted to that, have we.
"It leaves you fast and agile. There aren't too many that can out fly me," Misfire replies, not bragging, but stating fact. "I was one of the first Targetmasters. If I were completely useless, Scorponok wouldn't have chosen me for the program." He tilts his head back up at Blackout, "And he, by the way, was neither a pet, nor a scorpion."
Long Range's poetic commentary is met with a shrug, "Battle is a glorious thing, and what we were built for. But destruction for its own sake is seldom satisfying."

At least they haven't started fighting yet , and if they do he'll be ready to punt both of them until they decide on a course of action that doesn't involve violence.
"A good fight is nice and all, but I'd frankly rather find a shady spot and watch the sky or nap a bit. Battle is so... tiresome." Long Range responds to Misfire, sounding quite weary of the whole thing.

Blackout has no real interest in being insulting. He's just a prick.
"He may have chosen you first because a soldier who can't reliably hit the enemy is no great loss," the big chopper points out in a more or less bland tone. More or less, because almost everything he says has some hint of anger in it by default. And your Scorponok was a scorpion, but Blackout wouldn't know that. Speaking of Scorponoks, Blackout's makes his way back up the Pave Low's arm, perching atop his rotor assembly and peering around at random, although it occasionally glances back down at Aimless.
"Destruction for the sake of destruction is a waste of energy and ammunition. It does help to keep more chaotic troops pacified if they have a release, though." Go ahead, try to tell Bonecrusher he can't go rip something apart when too much time passes between battles. Blackout dares you.

As far as Misfire can tell, Blackout's pet is a robotic scorpion and little else, seeming to share more in common with a organic of the same type than Misfire's former commander. It's splitting hairs and being contrary, that bit of mis-information, but Misfire is getting tired of being poked at about his lacks, especially which he freely admits to them.
"We had Headmasters first. If we could turn someone's head into a transforming organic without issue, creating guns with the same technology wasn't exactly high risk." Misfire is proud of having been chosen for such a dubious honor, even if he himself is not quite certain of Scorponok's reasons. Raining on Misfire's parade makes him an unhappy jet.
Long Range gets a rather exasperated look. They are Decepticons. Their purpose is to conquer, for planet and for glory, to give all within their powers for the Decepticon cause (which incidentally is not the same as giving all for whomever might be their current commander). Misfire has run into a few like this before, those either burned out or simply not committed. They always rankle, and that no matter how "nice" they might be.
"If you're tired, go and have a recharge. Though I'd suggest someplace on the other side of the city. It's likely to be noisy here for sometime to come," Misfire says, as Aimless obeys his silent command to return to his hand. Once again, he picks a target, takes careful aim, and once again misses by a large margin. Oh, hey, but not so large a margin as before. he takes a few more shots, and while they don't move any closer to the target, they likewise don't shift further off. See. Improving!

"I wasn't being literal Misfire. It's just that after breaking things since the beginning of this war I wouldn't mind a chance to put some things back together in a calm, orderly fashion." He says taking a few steps back to a pile of rubble large enough for him to sit on.

Blackout turns back to Misfire, looking absolutely baffled. "You put organics in your heads? Why in the name of the Allspark would you do that?" Squishy factor aside, organics, in Blackout's experience, live extremely short lives, and only get weaker as they go on. The effects on a bonded Transformer can't be beneficial enough to be worth such a weakness, can they?
Blackout is beginning to think that Misfire is the wrong person to gauge this opinion on (a partner named Aimless is self-explanatory), but lacking anyone else handy to press on the matter, he'll have to do.
Long Range gets a sideways look. "The war can only be ended with one side's destruction. We fight to win." Nobody really has a chance to quit fighting where Blackout is from. Anyone who hints at tiring of the war is sent to the front lines, to be used as a shield. Anyone not part of the solution is part of the problem.

"The Autobots did it first, and it significantly increased their power. So Scorponok decided to follow suit," Misfire says. "What led Maximus and company to make such a decision I'm not quite sure." Not entirely true, but who's counting?
Misfire continues to practice, concentrating more on his aim then one his companions.
