"Then his version of you wouldn't be in a coma in our tunnels," Rodimus murmurs in response, his optics once more dimming. "He'd be dead before he ever got here."
"Do you really think that other me would have bothered to stop just because the other you seemed to be in pain, Emirate?"

"No. I don't think he would have stopped. But he might have gone a great deal farther," Emirate Xaaron replies meaningfully. The Matrix is a source of life, and given how cracked his alternate is, he wouldn't put it past him to be some sort of revenant.
Emirate Xaaron does wonder what might have been done to his alternate, but he seems the sort who would fear even a loving touch.

Rodimus Prime purses his lips and thinks about this. "Would he have run away if that's what had happened, though? I mean, yes, I suppose it's possible that this has all been a set up from the beginning, but... to be frank, my alternate doesn't strike me as being that subtle."
Rodimus is subtle and sneaky and tricksy when he has to be, because he's used to being outgunned and overpowered. It's pretty obvious to the Prime that his dark double is not used to those same things, and so, while he might have the capability to be underhanded, he doesn't likely have the practice.

There is a deep irony in the 'good' Prime being the more devious and cunning of the two.
Emirate Xaaron would like to shrug, but all he can manage to do is curl up a bit on Rodimus Prime's lap, like a heavy, golden cat with entirely too many sharp angles.
Perhaps nothing like a cat at all, then.
Emirate Xaaron muses tiredly, "I don't know. Just see to it that you aren't the one caged, if it comes to that."

Caged. Like Unicron. Like Primus in his sleeping planetary body.
That's an unpleasant thought.
"Don't worry about it," Rodimus dismisses, confident tone broken by a yawn. "I'll be careful."
His optics are very dim, and he is even entering the first stages of defragmentation, though enough processing power is left to hear and respond to Xaaron, should the Emirate say anything else.

Emirate Xaaron, meanwhile, has fallen asleep. Give him a break; he's old! He was also the one who was getting his soul yanked out of his body.
Luckily, robots do not snore.
