Gizmo may be rather socially inept, and he may be oblivious to a lot of social cues, but he does notice Swerve's look. Idly he wonders what that's about.
Then Wedge provides a distraction. "Hey, sounds great Wedge! Heh, now I get what Anakin Skywalker meant when he said he hated sand."

"Just stay in the shade," is Swerve's only request for seating before he sets down his tools and eases himself to the ground behind Sideburn. He bites back a groan, sighing instead, and waves off Wedge before settling his stare on Sideburn's back.
Scorching, deeply-singed pock marks, scrapes and gouges. All are problems easily repaired and some of them not worth bothering with when the kid's self-repair will take care of it. Swerve picks out a pair of fine-point pliers and sets to work carefully fishing out bits of rock and the occasional sticky lump of fluid-soaked sand; patching the holes and leaving all that stuff under the plating is just asking for trouble further down the road.

"Huh? 'Skywalker'? He sounds like an interesting mech, is he an off-planet explorer type?" puzzles Wedge before calling back to Sideburn. "We'll keep it going for you then!"
Past the building they stopped near, around a few smaller sheds and Wedge stops in a little quad of sorts. At the far end is a spigot of sorts, parts of it slightly caved with dents that oddly correspond to the size of Wedge's fingers.
"Well, here it is," Wedge shows of his discovery with a proud thrust of his chest. He's not going to mention that it took him a few moments to figure the apparatus out. "If you don't mind, I'll take care of you first and show you how it works?" Wedge automatically assumes that Gizmo's going to do the same for him. It's not proper or right of him to do so, but it's what he's used to.

Sideburn is perfectly fine with not moving, since moving during repairs is generally a bad thing. He stays silent for the moment, letting Swerve work. It feels odd, having someone else working on him. Not necessarily bad, just odd.
The silence stretches on, and Sideburn becomes uncomfortable with it. Knowing better than to fidgit, he instead tries to make small talk. "I know you said you were an "oil sport racer" on Velocitron... Were you always one? Or did you do something else before that? ...If you don't mind me asking, that is."

Gizmo gives Wedge a puzzled look. "No, he's not a mech, he's a human. Jedi Knight, ended up becoming Darth Vader and..." Then his expression turns incredulous. "You've never seen Star Wars, have you?"
That settles it -- when he gets back to base, he's going to sit as many people as possible down for a movie marathon. These poor deprived souls need to experience the joy that is The Trilogy.
"Um... sure, that works for me. How's it work? What do I do?"

The questions make Swerve lock up briefly, fingers freezing in the middle of shutting down Sideburn's pain receptors so he can get to patching what needs patching.
"I mind," he blurts out by reflex, scowling. He finishes with the shutdown more brusquely than he'd started it, then switches out tools. Silence broken only by the low hum and crackle of his torch reigns for a short while as he works, heating the damaged armour until it's malleable enough to get torn edges nursed back together. The wound he works on first is a dull ember-red before he finally sighs, slumping a little and slowing in the motions. He'll probably just keep tailgating me about it. Nosy, every last one of them. Uncomfortable, Swerve shifts his weight, ignoring the twinge of a laser burn he hadn't noticed before.
He heaves another sigh, fans briefly spinning up, and gets back to patching.
"And I am an oil-sport racer. Not was," he says, voice hardly louder than a mumble but his tone fierce as ever. "…Used to race topside." It comes out grudgingly, in the way of something a mech doesn't want to admit. "Long time ago."

"Um...Star Wars?" No, Wedge knows next to nil about Earth culture...but he can tell you all about its subterranean levels and how to work in them. "No, no I haven't seen 'Star Wars'. What is it? Some new battle simulation?" There's a slight perk in Wedge's voice at that, he's always up for new battle simulations. Anything to gain more experience and show the higher-ups his mettle.
Carefully, he crouches over and begins to turn on the device. "See? You twist like this, then do this here..." Wedge is slowly demonstrating, leaving a wide open space for Gizmo to see. A few seconds later, voila, cold and gushing water! "You got it?" He looks back at the carbot for a response. If negative, he'll demonstrate again, but if positive, Wedge continues.
"So, you might want to transform first. We'll get the most of your alt-mode rinsed off, that's the easiest."

Sideburn had been ready to drop the subject after Swerve's initial reply, so his quiet admission takes Sideburn a bit by surprise.
"Why the switch?" A pause, then he adds on quickly, "You don't have to answer that if you don't want to."

"No, not a battle simulation exactly, though there's plenty of fighting," Gizmo explains. "It's a series of human-made movies -- kinda like holovids -- about space battles and aliens and an energy field called the Force. It's pretty cool. Special effects and technology are kinda campy compared to what we have, but that's part of the fun." He grins eagerly. "When we get back, I'll have to find a working projection screen of some kind and we can watch them." Because actually watching the films play out is SO much more fun in his mind than simply downloading them into one's processors.
"Got it," he says with a nod after Wedge's demonstration, and he folds himself into Viper mode.

"I don't need your say-so if I wanna answer a question or don't," Swerve snarls even while he keeps working. The gashes that need his attention are tended with brief pauses here and there to patch some damaged wiring beneath the plating as he goes, and then left to cool while he stares at Sideburn's back as if to put a couple extra holes there. I bet he expects me to not answer. "And I felt like it," he grumbles, deciding he'd rather do what he thinks isn't expected of him. While he'd been barred from topside racing, it really had been his choice to move underground. It wasn't like he needed to race. …Except I did need it. Do need it.
He heaves a sigh, fans whirring; he'll have to cool down before he can start working on his own injuries.

Wedge tilts his head slightly as Gizmo describes this 'Star Wars', but his curiousity is definitely piqued. "That does sound pretty interesting," the Buildbot gives a small laugh, "I'd like to see what sort of technology the humans have worked out for space." Of course he'd be interested in the mechanic side of things--fighting too of course. Creators forbid when Wedge catches sight of the lightsaber battle sequences...
Gently, Wedge tugs the hose closer to Gizmo and liberally lets the water cascade over the carbot's windshield and hood. "If you got anywhere in particular you want rinsed out, just give a yell." He gives a satisfied sound as gritty water begins dribbling down Gizmo's plating.

Skipping Sideburn due to timeout.
"Well, it never really explains how the human space travel is supposed to work," Gizmo confesses. "Something about a hyperdrive and going lightspeed, but even at lightspeed it would still take ages to get from one end of the galaxy to the other. Maybe it's wormholes or something like the space bridge, I dunno. What I'd like is one of those lightsabers -- something like Prime's energy axe, only as a narrow focused blade. That'd be awesome to have!"
His servos relax a bit at feeling some of the grime from the road rinsed away. Hmmm... this isn't bad...
"Um... rinsing? Windshield would be nice... still got bug crusties on it."

Guess that shut him up. Swerve's frown eases a little and he leans back, tucking tools and parts into his kit for ease of transport. He stands once he's finished and glowers down at Sideburn. "That should do it," he grumbles. "If not, I'll eat my soldering iron."
He doesn't wait long for Sideburn to respond; the aches and twinges in his steering aren't getting any better and they're just adding to his irritation. It's less about the actual damages now than trying not to work himself into overheat out here with nothing and no-one but these kids for help. The sooner he can get himself repaired, the better off he'll be. And he will repair himself, without any assistance from Sideburn.
Swerve strides around the perimeter of the buildings if Sideburn doesn't try to stop him, circling the far side from Wedge and Gizmo. He wants – needs – privacy, and he doesn't stop walking until he finds a shady spot behind the two-story main structure and settles down to work. First is a full diagnostic.
Can't start 'til I know exactly what I gotta do. Only got so much time…. He scowls as the readouts begin scrolling one after another. Pinion snapped after all. Lines broken… wiring's shot… circuits aren't responding right, either. Frag it all. He has work ahead of him, and it's irritating – not because it has to be done, but because it has to be done here and now. Whatever. They'd better just leave me alone. He pulls out and sets down in careful array what he'll need so he has everything close at hand; he can't – doesn't want to – afford any time wasted on searching for this part or that tool.
Once the preparations are finished, he takes several long, slow, deep cycles of air. Nervous. Uneasy. It has to be done, though; another venting cycle runs before he shuts down his engine. In the heavy silence that follows, he reaches to the hollow at his back, under his windscreen, with wrench in hand. Three support struts are unbolted, then he uncouples the cabling at his shoulders and, grimacing, the hoses at his ventral plate, and he hooks his fingers under his front bumper. One quick tug frees the entire front end from his back with a muffled clatter of parts sliding free and hose couplings bouncing off his plating. A low heat spike hits him but he ignores it and sets to work instead, starting with the damaged wiring and circuits to get the fine work out of the way while he's still mostly clear-headed.
OOC: Swerve will work for one or two rounds and unless someone decides to pester him, he'll be skippable so he isn't holding up anything while not interacting with others.

Like Prime's energy ax? Wedge tries not to look too confused as he redirects the water flow, adjusting the pressure of his thumb on the stream to better blast the 'bug crusties' off Gizmo's windshield. Yeah, different Prime, different Prime.
"That sounds interesting," Wedge offers, his statement genuinely reflecting his piqued curiosity. He bends over after finishing with the windshield to rinse out dusty wheel-wells. A puzzled look is plain on his face as he looks at Gizmo again. "Heh, you should take a look at the space bridges we have back at home. They're the best thing and they can get you in and out in..." Wedge trails off. Didn't Emirate Xaaron say something about not talking too much about space bridges a while back? Right.
"I think I've got most of your alt-mode rinsed up, you can switch back to bot mode and I'll finish up the job."
Car wash Wedge. Not quite a great ring to it but he's having fun.

Car Wash Wedge is at least a lot less likely to become the Car Wash of Doom, though of course Gizmo comes from the wrong universe to know about that...
"Really?" asks Gizmo, delight shining in his voice. "Wow, most people when I talk about this kinda stuff just tell me to shut up, or their optics go hazy." He flicks his windshield wipers a few times to help with the windshield. "When we get back, I'll have to set up a movie night or something. Watch all six of them at once. Oh, and you guys have a space bridge too? Awesome, our universes aren't that different after all!"
At Wedge's request he transforms, water pouring out of a few chinks in his chassis. "Um... when you're done... ah... want me to return the favor?"
