Emirate Xaaron narrows his optics. Ah, yes, Perceptor. One who is very much for the needs of the few over the needs of the many.
He rubs his chin, thoughtfully. "Revealing our source would be problematic, but... if we recover a Shockwave corpse, I would like you, Rodimus Prime, to deal with it personally and claim you found the recording on it. It is a lie, true, but..."

"You... expectin' a lot of dead Shockwaves, Emirate?" Kup asks uncertainly, then shifts in position. Still, there's a faint grin on his face with the knowledge that his alternate isn't one of the dupes - a whole planet of Autobots has been tricked, but still Kup remained steadfast. That's worth something, isn't it?
"Also, anything else in there we need to know about?" he adds after a moment.

"Ah, sure, I can get that," Rodimus answers Emirate Xaaron. While he's generally an honest enough sort, the Prime does have a strong Trickster streak in him, after all.
"It might not hurt to come up with some other plausible lie if we don't, well, luck into a dead Shockwave. It's not an immediate issue or anything, but something to keep in mind."

"Shockwave dies all the time," Emirate Xaaron notes brightly. "Just... not often enough."
Yes, Kup is awesome. Sometimes wrong-headed but awesome.
He rubs his chin and suggest, "Well. We could just have Mirage claim that he procured it... which is true, and he is a spy, but... I need to speak with Mirage."
"Also, the Decepticons have a Mixmaster. I should probably find an excuse to inform Long Haul and console him."
"A few other things, Kup."

Kup reaches out to accept a copy of the datadisk. "Just routine information, I take it?" he answers, looking at the disk before tucking it into a slot on his upper chest, just behind his front window. He glances from Rodimus to Xaaron, then back again.
"I do like that idea, talking to Mirage. Technically, we wouldn't have to actually lie then, can actually keep the misinformation minimal." Although Kup's old enough to value secrets, he's honest enough that it's never sat well with him. "It's kind of handy to have a well known, overt spy about."

Rodimus crosses his arms and nods. "Right. The less lying we have to do to our own troops, the better." Saying this reminds him of something else. Xaaron had let him know that Kup knew about Unicron... he shoots a look at Xaaron, a questioning look, and taps his chest discretely.
Should he tell Kup about his alternate?

Emirate Xaaron has to think long ad hard. Kup, so far, has not been obnoxious about Rodimus Prime secrets, so far as Emirate Xaaron can tell. More, if Emirate Xaaron should fall, someone should know, to ensure the rest of the Autobots and Maximals.
The decision is not made lightly, but he nods slowly to Rodimus Prime.
"Mostly routine. Troops numbers and names. Interactions. That blasted mining worm of their is sapient and has a robot mode now."

"Right. Well, if that's it, I'd better go prep for the new arrival," Kup tells the others before turning away.

Rodimus returns Xaaron's brief nod, allowing himself a faint smile. "I'll catch up with you later, Kup," he tells the departing veteran.

Emirate Xaaron allows Kup to go and then looks at Rodimus Prime questioningly, wondering if the Prime has anything else to discuss, given the news.

Rodimus shakes his head, then rubs his forehead. "Emirate, you... encountered Shockwave during the battle. What do you think of this one, compared with ours? How much trouble is this going to cause?"
He crosses his arms. "How close do we need to watch any of ours that have been approached by him? How good a shot do we have at recruiting any of his that come through?"
As for the... other matter, Rodimus will speak with Kup in private later on. No need to dredge it up during the official meeting. Besides, Xaaron already knows.

Emirate Xaaron pinches the bridge of this nose and gives Rodimus Prime a look that says, 'You don't even want to know.' Then, half his mouth pulls up in something that is not at all a smile. "You know how some people are able to arrange facts in a very pretty way to suit a goal?"
Rodimus Prime is looking at one of those people.
"He does that. He is unafraid to be subtle. He claims to serve logic and order, but he sows discord at every turn. He does not seek to lead the Decepticons - he seeks to lead us all. Everyone wants peace, yes? You would be a criminal to deny peace?" He snorts and shakes his head.
"Shockwave will be a bane to ours. I would dearly love to repay him by filching some of his."

"A piece of what?" Rodimus smirks, crossing his arms. "Whether it's what started it or not, a good portion of most of our wars are being fought over whether or not Cybertron - or some individuals - deserve all the pieces of everything." Rodimus is deliberately misinterpreting the word, but then, that's the point. "Cybertron can be united - for all the wrong reasons. I've seen it happen."
He lowers his arms and looks towards the tunnel roof. "So... no defeating this one by randomly jumping on him until he gets confused and runs away. Got it."
He pauses and glances down at Emirate Xaaron. "Emirate, er, sir. Why don't you ever make use of your alternate mode?"

Emirate Xaaron may be disappointed in Rodimus Prime over several matters, but if Rodimus Prime really did defeat Shockwave by randomly jumping on him?
He is impressed.
"Oh yes, I agree, of course, but the lure of a united Cybertron is quite seductive. This one, I would suggest sneaking up on or possibly firebombing his office."
Leader of an underground government in exile... terrorist. Which of these terms is slander?
He covers half his face with a hand and admits, "My aim is terrible. I meant to tell you all, actually. Just never got around to it."

Well, technically, it was Hot Rod that defeated Shockwave that way, not Rodimus.
Also, the only reason Hot Rod had to defeat Shockwave that way was because he had forgotten to turn on Metroplex's defenses. Whoops!
"Really?" Rodimus gives a teasing smile that borders on a smirk as Emirate Xaaron talks about having meant to tell them something, and not getting around to it. "A lot of that going on lately, it seems." Then he sobers, shifting stance to put more weight on his left foot. "But anyway, Kup should be able to help you with that. That doesn't exactly answer my question, though." The Prime looks at Xaaron intently. "Does it have anything to do with the fact that war-alts are extremely rare among Iaconians built before the war?"
