Frenzy's optics are currently giving off enough light to be noticeable to someone attuned to the natural darkness of the forest. He doesn't appreciate the big fat target that makes him, but the grumbling stays inside his head.
At the clearing, he pauses in the underbrush rather than following the trail out into the middle. Too much open space; do not like. But he'd have to cross sooner or later. Sooner was better if the Autobot kept going; later was better if-
Barricade vocalizes the if before Frenzy can think it.
A soft sound in the woods near where the Autobot must have re-entered the treeline causes him to snap around to face it. Too soft to be a deliberate distraction; unless their prey was that good.
But if he was going to set an ambush, this was where he'd do it. //Maybe.//
He takes off up a try, clambering out into the branches over the clearing then shakes the limbs- Look, see, someone has brushed too close to the tree. See the target?

They are very quiet, they move almost as silently as Mirage himself. That faint blue glow, however, gives at least one of them away, even though they stick to the safety of the clearings edge. There are not many who could track Mirage...they could, but then the glow would be red, not blue. Yet another differance to add to those he has heard on the broadband, perhaps? Or something else?
The limbs shake, but Mirage remains still. The blue glow had moved, but too quickly for Mirage to follow amongst the trees and undergrowth. Even if he did not have that warning, Mirage would not have shot at mere sound. That is a rookie mistake, something a warrior running scared or unsure of himself might do. Patience. Patience is always rewarded.
But still, there is the matter of the hunt at hand, and every minute Mirage waits here, is a minute his quarry gains. Rodimus Prime...is not the patient sort. But Mirage can not hunt while he is the hunted. He must end this here.
Four minutes...

The mark isn't going to take the bait; wary, frightened, or a challenge. Excellent.
// Meet at the trail terminus, // he murmurs privately to Frenzy as he steps back to slip through the trees, circling the clearing away from Mirage's hiding place. There's no way he can be as silent as Frenzy as he pushes through the branches and trees.
That's the point. Whoever is out there should go for the known target, leaving himself open for Frenzy to tag.
And then the real fun begins.

//Yeah, yeah.// Optics dim to normal operating levels. Turning himself into the target was a low clockspeed idea if ever there was on.
Besides, not actively trying to track a camel across a desert meant he didn't need as much light to function.
The little spy shimmies down the tree and skulks away through the brush, going the opposite way around the clearing from Barricade. The underbrush is faintly disturbed by his passing, but it'd take a keener optic than even he has to track his going.

Trees move once more, this time in the definite pattern of one working his or her way through them. That soft light seemed to vanish earlier. Mirage's optics narrow. Remaining here would be foolish. The solid tree at his back and the deadfall before him will not be sufficient to hide him once he is forced to cycle his cloak...best to move now, while his stalker is hopefully on the other side of the clearing.
Two minutes....
Swiftly, silently, Mirage backs out of his makeshift blind, between trees, not moving around the clearing but at an angle from it. He doesn't move out too far though, as he finds an especially thick grouping of trees. Ducking into it, he lets his cloak power down for that brief minute of rest. It's a risk, but a necessary one.
Just one minute. But one minute is a long time when you're being tracked.

Switching with Barricade done with Barricade's player's permission.Drop a nuke on this place, sow the wasteland with arsenic, and unleash the mutants - Frenzy is slagging tired of bits of underbrush trying to get caught in his joints as he skulked around the edge of the clearing. A faint rustling caught his attention, and he cocked his head curiously. A piece of underbrush a ways away was crushed by an unseen force. Slowly, with a patience most people didn't believe he had, he slid into a stand of leafy plants. Limbs spread to break up his outline, and blue eyes peeked out like early flowers. He waited and watched. And Mirage's invisibility cloak cycled. //Got him! Got him, got him, got him! <coordinates>. Blue racecar. Invisibility, but not right now!// And then Scourge's radio comes through. //Fragfragfrag! Slag-sucking, fuse-blowing, crashing creations of eight-bit empties! Gotta ceasefire - only defense. Nnnnnnnnngh!//

The instant Frenzy's call comes through, Barricade is turning, hand shifting into the glowing red-orange barrel of his integrated cannon. Tree branches grasp and tear at him as he begins the sprint to the coordinates Frenzy had given him. Invisibility, but not at the moment; he needs to close and bind and hold on, in case their opponent decides to go into hiding again.
Wait... ceasefire?!
Barricade slides to a halt, ducking around a thicker copse of trees for cover since he'd so blatantly given his position away. Slag! A ceasefire?
// Why? // he snarls furiously, and it's clear from his tone that it isn't Frenzy he is angry with, but the cheating of their prey.

Damnit all to the Pits! He's been tagged! It has to be that erstwhile knight and his silent squire. They're the only team that could work that silently.... Mirage leaps to one side, engaging his cloak as he does so, moving swiftly out of the tree grouping he had been using as cover. But he isn't running away, no, Mirage has angled back toward those crashing sounds....sounds that stop quite abruptly.
Meh. Five will get you ten these 'Cons got the sames cease-fire message from Starscream that Mirage got from Prime. How disappointing.
He settles, still cloaked, against a tree, keeping an eye out in case either of them advance again. He can't resist poking over a low power general, //Leave it to Command to spoil all the fun.//

//Slag you, your creators, your turbofoxes, and your girlfriend. Low clock-speed, wire-wicking, resistor-burning, macro-munching, cross-compiling bootleg made in Taiwan out of pig iron and mulch that needs a calculator to add and subtract...//
Mirage-3 has probably never heard that voice in his life.

Despite his irritation at having been cheated of their prey, Barricade smirks; he can't help it. Frenzy does have such a... refined way with words.
// We could always claim radio failure, // he observes lowly. The voice may sound more familiar than the unknown one spewing forth the string of epithets, however, Mirage has likely never heard this voice produce these particular tones of almost warm menace before.
Unlike the Knight, this Barricade is more than content to bait his foes.

//What the leaking...it can talk?// Mirage is momentarily distracted from Frenzy's insults by the novelty of the hacker actually speaking. Once Mirage actually picks the meaning out of the steady stream of vitriol, however, his fists clench against the sudden urge to find Frenzy and rip the spiky little bastard into so many pieces even Perceptor can't reassemble him. He growls out: //Muzzle your pet, Barricade.//
Another minute to calm himself, and then Mirage starts to carefully, quietly, pick his way between the trees, trying to put some distance, however slight, between himself and the deadly duo.
//You can claim what you wish, but not even your head is worth disobeying the Prime. I'll not start this dance.//

This one's in English for that extra little bit of precision of meaning. Some insults just don't translate, you know?
//Eat shit, bark at the moon, and die, you gravy-sucking pig.//
---
Since this is actually something that translates poorly and doesn't sound as good with something inserted in place of 'shit', I've chosen to keep it as I've always heard it. However, the use of four-letter words and similar expletive levels should be a rare thing on these boards.

Oh dear, Mirage... you just had to go call Frenzy a "pet," didn't you? He really likes that, you know.
If by "likes," one actually meant "will hack your core and then use your fuel pump for a lubricant receptacle."
// Maybe if you apologize reeeeaaal nice, he might curb his enthusiasm, // Barricade observes in a low purr. // Not likely, but not impossible. //
He trusts Frenzy to maintain cover as he strides out through the trees into the edge of the clearing defiantly. // But if you feel like you need to run off and simper to your Prime, // he sneers, letting his voice trail off.

//You do not know this Prime. Chaos follows in his wake and if he chooses to burn this world down around our audials not a one of you will stop him.//
Still moving. Still trying for distance. Can't move too quickly without causing to much attention...
//I value my plating much more than my pride. Do you lack such self-preservation programming? Or is your leader not worthy of your fear?//
They want to fight, they can start it. Right now, Mirage needs to get to another good cover spot before his cloak times out again.
Either Frenzy or Barricade is free to pose as getting a glimpse of Mirage de-cloaking due to a time-out. And can pounce on him if they wish as well.

Frenzy has been watching the surrounding vegetation very, very closely as he struggles to keep track of the stupid, fragging invisible wussy-boy.
And then the cloak cycles again! Mirage is not actually that near from where Frenzy thought he was, but that's okay!
There is an explosion of noise in the underbrush as Frenzy races towards Mirage. The racecar may expect an attack from such a move, but Frenzy isn't going for that at all. Instead, he scrambles up Mirage's leg and back, chittering quietly all the while.
No, Frenzy is being an afthat, that's what he's doing.

Pouncing of Mirage is done with permission.
