"They both do that! You're gonna have to be more specific!" Brawl shouts back to Assault.
He's struck briefly by an intense bout of Gun Envy as Perceptor emerges from his closet, though thankfully he regains his senses in time to dive for cover. A flying chainsaw rocket clips him in midair as he dives, leaving gouges across his back. Then another chews through the console he's hiding behind and actually clips off the tip of his cannon barrel before the blades stop and the rocket runs out of fuel. Brawl stares at the blade protruding above him as it slowly grinds to a halt mere inches above his head.
//I'm goin' in! Cover me!// he shouts over the local broadband as he springs up from behind his cover and dashes at Perceptor, firing. The other Combaticons will lay down cover fire for him like they always do!
Wait. Scrap.

Perceptor is a genius, but he's no hacker. The pitiful excuse for security algorithms fall like dominoes before Frenzy's intrusion and it's no time at all before he is downloading everything the scientist has on file about the Spacebridge.
There's even a few image captures, including one of a very curiously paint-swapped Xaaron and Perceptor.
It takes time, though, to get all the information; Perceptor is thorough. And wordy. He's even wordier in his notes to himself than he is, apparently, when he speaks. Shockwave will have quite the job cut out for him, going through all this blather.
Something is wrong, though. The sounds of the fighting have changed. Frenzy risks peeking out one optic-stalk to have a look, and blinks as he catches sight of Perceptor, enraged, squaring off against both of the other Decepticons like he knows what the heck he's doing.
Huh. Weird. Who knew?
Just a little bit longer. Just a little bit, and then he can start rewriting the spacebridge code enough for it to blow up the next time it's used. Just a few more minutes. Surely Brawl and Assault can give him that much?

"Ah, that they do, don't they? Perhaps they are brothers, or one is the future version of another!"
Assault's entertainment values are usually higher then this, preferring mental and tactical games over blaster fire, one where you can build to a crushing defeat and then relish in the tears of your enemy as they realize that they have been soundly beaten! But occasionally he enjoys such simple romps and this is one of those times, taking potshots at the good Autobot scientist or shooting up his lab with a near childish glee whenever he rises from his cover! But the next time he does there is no sign of Perceptor. The Seeker blinks, waiting a few seconds, before turning his head to look at Brawl. "Where in the blazes did he go?"
Then, Perceptor re-emerges from his closet and- oh dear.
Oh dear.
If this were Beast Wars, then this would be the moment where the camera would do a dramatic close-up, showing Assault with optics wide and bright in shock and mouth agape in a gasp!
A gasp that is soon replaced by a cry of agony as the beam punches a hole through his wing! Thankfully he at least has the smarts to dive for the nearest bit of cover, keeping himself pressed down, though the sound of missiles and buzzing confounds him. What in the world does that weapon even fire? When he can, he peeks out, and oh. Looks like Perceptor is imaginative after all! "I must say Perceptor, that is much better! Even if Swindle invented a similar weapon, smaller as well if I recall! Are you perhaps compensating for your pathetic concussion rifle?"
//Wait, Brawl!// But judging from the heavy footsteps, the Combaticon has already popped up, making the Seeker grind his dentals before he too rises...Only to see Hook laying on the nearby berth! Assault was never one for improvising, but this is just too good of an opportunity to pass up.
He bolts from his cover, keeping his rifle to his hip so he can fire both it the cannon on his free arm, trying to distract Perceptor. Then, hopefully before the scientist can hurt Assault too badly,he grabs the Constructicon by the neck and pulls him up in front of him, not even caring about any damage he does with this act, effectively using him as a meat metal shield!
"My, you must have gone through a lot of effort to restrain Hook!" Assault chuckles darkly as he keeps firing with his rifle, aiming for the BFG in Perceptor's hands. "Would be a terrible waste if you rendered that all for naught in the process of attempting to down me!"

The tag line of a particularly violent movie from Pz-Zazz suddenly pops into Perceptor's thoughts - or rather, how he remembers that line does - and he finds himself uttering it to the invading Decepticons as he continues firing off chainsaw rockets. "Please extend your greetings to my diminutive associate!" He has, perhaps, been on Pz-Zazz just a little too long.
It is not right, though. Something is not working correctly. The rockets are not detonating once they run out of surface for the chainsaw blades to chew through. Realistically? This is probably a good thing for the inside of the Event Horizon. It is also why Perceptor had always left the weapons design to Wheeljack, rather than attempting it, himself.
Well, that, and the fact that he really does not enjoy designing weapons.
Still, that detail gets filed away by one little subroutine of Perceptor's ever-restless mind; he'll have to rework the ordinance design again, if he is ever to succeed in building something to please Springer's desire for a "proper Wrecker's greeting card". He refuses, however, to rise to Assault's bait, other than to snap, "Swindle? Build? Ha. Illegally acquired, I would believe. But built, no."
Did you hear that, Brawl? The nerd just dissed your fellow Combaticon.
And then Assault has to go and grab Hook, probably damaging Hook even further in the process of ripping the Constructicon loose from the bindings holding him to the workstation. "You... you CAD! Put him down!"
Perceptor's luck continues to fail, for, all the Decepticons' shots that had been missing him - he is, after all, from G1, where even at point blank, the bad guys always miss, unless it is necessary for plot - finally start hitting closer to their marks. Namely, the BFG cradled in his arms. He's managed to fire off, perhaps, another half dozen rockets at Brawl before Assault's aim fires true, and the BFG explodes in a showy ball of fire that throws Perceptor backwards into a sprawled heap.
Even with those extra few rockets, though, things are not looking good for the scientist; it seems that he has already used up his entire allotment of lost-temper-bad-aftery. The worm turned, packed a BFG, and the bad guys had the temerity to destroy said BFG! He cannot fire at Assault without hurting Hook (and yes, he actually worries about that), and Brawl is about to steamroll him into paste. Worst of all, he has not yet managed to work off his temper, and his laboratory may yet end up jettisoned into space!
If he is left behind, who will be left to repair the survivors?

Thump.
Thump. Thump.
Thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthump!
What's that noise? Why, that's a Dinobot on patrol, who noticed that there's a lot of crashing and exploding coming from the lab. However, Wheeljack isn't here and the ship is under attack! So, this is something that should be checked out!
Grimlock barges into the lab in robot mode, and just in time to see Brawl barging on a downed Perceptor. Well, that won't do! Grimlock lunges on the tank, and hoists him up by the tank barrel - so nice of Starscream to design Brawl with such a handy handle! "Me Grimlock no think so."

Brawl charges at Perceptor, firing, non-gun arm flung over his face to protect himself from rocket propelled chainsaws. He's so caught up in what he's doing, and his field of vision so limited by his arm, that it's a moment before he realizes his feet are no longer touching the ground. He thought the pressure of Grimlock's hand on his cannon barrel was another chainsaw or something!
"Don't you talk about Swindle! Only I'm allowed to talk about Swindle! I'll kick your- Wait, are you talking about the fake Swindle here or the real one back ho-YOU PUT ME DOWN YOU FRAGGER!" he yells, flailing all four limbs at Grimlock, none of them connecting due to the difference in their statures.
"Ghrrk . . .hrrngh . .. gonna kill . . . Put me down and fight like a bot, you overgrown lizard!"

Crap! More Autobots! Frenzy has to shuffle awkwardly to keep out of sight as Grimlock charges into the room and grabs Brawl, finally giving up as soon as he's grabbed as much data as he can to dive for cover. He'll try to slip in again and sabotage the spacebridge, just as soon as the overgrown lizard-bulk blunders out of his way.
Fortunately, all of the crashing, banging, and Grimlock's own shouting cover Frenzy's muttered invective, or he'd have totally given his position away.

The gun's explosion is reflected in Assault's own orange optics, making the malevolent orange look as if it burns bright. Oh, how fantastic this is! Assault carelessly drops Hook back onto the birth, leaving the Constructicon alone for now, instead striding towards Perceptor, joining Brawl in occassionally firing off a round, for no reason other then to terrify the poor scientist.
"Ah, I must admit Perceptor, you fought bravely! But I am afraid that the time has come for this universe to lose a great mind-"
Oh. Giant robot dinosaur. Who is now holding his Combaticon comrade like a plaything. Terrific.
Assault looks at Perceptor one last time before he subspaces his rifle, turns and starts running. He nimbly jumps over any obstacles in his path, flanking around Grimlock, raising both armcannons to keep firing not just at the Dinobot, but also the scientist! Because like hell that he is going to let him dig out any other weapons of doom! //Brawl! Don't let him back into that cabinet! Destroy it if you can!//

With his final instructions for how to save Rodimus passed on to the other Autobots on their newly secured channel, it is not so much a sense of giving up, as it is acceptance that Perceptor feels as he takes in the chaos around him. It's one of those moments when time seems to slow, each of Brawl's footsteps echoing hollowly, as if from a void, despite the cacophony of sound filling the lab. The limp sway of Hook's limbs as Assault drops him carelessly. The spray of glass from shattered beakers tumbling almost gracefully to the floor. The flash of Decepticon fire blossoming around him.
If he weren't about to die, it would look almost poetic, in this odd daze of over-cranked reality.
Thankfully, all of his notes and files had always been backed up on the ship's main database. Xaaron had been in the loop on the construction of the Spacebridge, and so can direct rebuilding it. The Autobots just need to survive and escape and things can be rebuilt. Perhaps more slowly, but they can be rebuilt, and someone, someday, will figure out a means to send everyone home. Perceptor only wishes that he could manage some way of destroying Assault and Brawl and all of the things in his laboratory that could be used against the Autobots before he dies.
But that would also destroy his bonsai morphobot (whom he'd named Lawrence), and so many of the tools the Autobots would need to rebuild, and a sizable portion of the Event Horizon, and Hook (whom Perceptor had already begun to hope, back in a less distracted corner of his mind, could be saved, could have the robosmasher damage repaired), and the giant robot dinosaur stomping his way through the doorway and--
Wait. Giant robot Dinosaur? Grimlock?
Grimlock!
As Brawl is unceremoniously hauled off his feet, time resumes its normal, frantic pace, and a most deliriously brilliant idea bursts into Perceptor's processor. He scrambles to his feet, a few of Assault's shots ringing off the floor around him, as he dives for the Spacebridge controls.
"Grimlock! Here!" he orders, waving toward the platform, even as he punches in random coordinates. He doesn't care where the doorway opens, except that it just not be anywhere inside the Event Horizon.

"Me Grimlock fight like bot - Dinobot! And me not able to put you down just yet..." The jet's slipping by him, and Perceptor wants something at the platform? Is it him, or the Decepticons?
No time to find out, and letting this creep get away after he tried to wreck up the lab? Not gonna happen!
Grimlock turns and moves around Assault, hefting Brawl by his barrel in both hands...
And batting Assault square in the torso, knocking him back toward the platform.

//Whaddayou want me to use on the frakkin' cabinet? Harsh language?!// Brawl transmits back to Assault. Sorry, boss, he can't exactly aim at the cabinet right now, on account of Grimlock being the one in control of which way he's facing.
Fortunately, he can at least attempt to shoot Grimlock in the face. Brawl feels this is a pretty good compromise, all things considered. Shooting people in the face has worked well for him in the past. He roars wordlessly as the Dinobot swings him at Assault and lets out a strained "OOF!" as he connects with the other Decepticon and his optics go all staticky.

And now the lumbering oaf is flinging about the bulks like toys. Yeah... Frenzy? Is totally out of here. He'll try to come back later and mess things up. At least he got the intel he was sent after. He scuttles back to the safety of the vents and gets himself the heck out of this lab/thread!

//There are bound to be unstable weapons in there! Any stray shot will do!// He would have done it by now, if he were not so occupied with trying to both keep Perceptor down and force the Dinobot to let Brawl go!
Assault isn't trying to slip away, but in hindsight, perhaps a tactical retreat would have been wise after all. Because then he wouldn't be smacked with his own teammate, at full force no less, crumpling his armor with the blow and sending him crashing right into the Spacebridge platform.
He lays there, but unlike the Combaticon, he is not motionless. By sheer force of will he twitches, moving to get back up...Or rather, tries to. But the damage is too severe. There's deep imprint of Brawls' chest spread along his own, the armor completely crumpled and crushing internal systems and servos, while his cockpit is smashed entirely, revealing an odd device with red lights that flash angrily and sparkles occasionally. It's a miracle he hasn't been knocked into stasis yet! All he can manage to do, is to move his head. Warning signs dot his vision, static obscuring it entirely every second, but he can still see a flash of red next to the platform.
Perceptor!
He fights to lift an arm, biting through the intense pain as his shoulder joint creaks, just making the damage there worse. But if he can just raise it enough, fire off a shot...

Well, that is certainly an efficient manner of dealing with the situation. "Excellent, Grimlock!" Perceptor praises, as his fingers fly over the controls. He catches a glimpse from the corner of one optic of Assault struggling to bring his weapon up in line; at this range, even Assault, in his condition, cannot miss.
Perhaps it is Perceptor's imagination, but he can almost feel the heat of that weapon as the glow deep within the bore of Assault's armgun grows...
Perceptor slaps his hand down roughly upon a rather conspicuous button; There is a flash of white, and Assault vanishes.
"Now, again, Grimlock!"

On the swing-back, Grimlock lets Brawl fly at the same platform. However, he still got shot in the face in the process, as well as in the collar. For the moment, he's dealing with the pain of getting pew-pewed in the face. Dinobots might be hard-headed, but Brawl is is made for combat!
